You can always sit and enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee.

Every time I come to Monterey, I have to visit this place. Their Turkish delights are exactly like the ones I had when I visited Turkey. I searched everywhere for that distinct flavor and I have only found it here. They have recently expanded the store, and now it's like a true Turkish bazaar. Service is great, especially Hussein, he has always been extremely helpful. You can sample the delights to find which ones you love. Lots of flavors to choose from.

Was walking by when I spotted this spot , it's gorgeous. And the display of all the different treats had me intrigued. I only had Turkish delight one other time in Carmel and did not like the rose flavored candy but I decided to try the rose flavored Turkish delight they had here - I enjoyed it so much more !! I also had a Turkish coffee , it was very .... Earthy . Tasted clean and not artificial. Very strong too! I purchased some baklava as well and it was delicious. Service was great the older gentleman explained and told me to sit and he would bring the coffee out . He gave me a few samples too . I will definitely be coming back . Warning it is a bit on the pricey side .

I was walking Cannery Row when i stumbled into this one of a kind shop. Very clean and very friendly staff. The unique candies are very colorful and quite delicious actually. I really was amazed at the variety of baklava offered here. I had no idea so many options could be created. I really loved this place.

From the moment we walked in, the hosts were friendly, inviting, and genuinely happy to have us there. We were encouraged to taste several halwa options, which immediately set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable visit. A special shoutout to Zainab, who helped us big time during our visit. She was incredibly patient with our tasting requests and took the time to walk us through a wide variety of sweets, explaining the differences and helping us find what suited our taste best. There was absolutely no rush, just thoughtful guidance and great hospitality. We eventually settled on a couple of baklava varieties along with Turkish delights filled with nuts, and everything we picked was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. If you're in Monterey and have a sweet tooth (or even if you don't), this spot is definitely worth a visit.

We loved every bite we had at Troya. The pomegranate tea was on another level, so refreshing and flavorful, and the baklava was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and well made. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

So this is definitely a tourist trap. Do you like traps? Up to you right? I did get some samples. And the samples were good enough for me to spend $25. So the little square cubes of plain Turkish Delights were quite delish. It's quite quite the soft chewy gooey texture. It's a bit more thick and richer than other cheap ones where the texture feels more gummy or gelatinous. When I inquired about the ingredients, they said that they used molasses. I see why and how Edmund fell to Turkish Delights. I also got the other more fancy TDs that had other ingredients including pomegranate and marshmallows (separate, not together). They also served Turkish coffees with fancy cups. I should have gotten it. But I didn't. Maybe it's bc I knew this was a tourist trap and I was only willing to be trapped by the TDs like Edmund. But there were others including Turks whom patron the coffee. My friend commented that this place was more expensive than another Turkish store. But it is what it is. And you get what you get. The store was super clean, lots of nice wares, nice decoration, full of friendly staff and a good amount of samples. B++

I was out exploring Cannery Row and decided to pop in to Troya. Troya is a Turkish cafe offering traditional coffee, pastries, and more. The store is bright and colorful, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I love baklava, so I immediately gravitated towards their different baklava options. I went with the most original looking one. The slices are big, so I only opted for one slice. I brought it back to our hotel to share with my husband later that evening. It was delicious! Perfectly flaky and not too sweet. Though they're great for sharing, I kind of wished I got two slices!

I've been coming here for years, at least once a year, and Troya is still my must-stop spot for Turkish delights and coffee. The lokum are excellent -- the green pistachio roll and the dark cocoa/black roll are absolute classics. Other newer flavors are fun too, but those two are my staples. The owner is generous with samples -- not tiny bites, but big pieces -- so you can really taste before you buy. Even though I'm not big on sweets, I always end up leaving with a box (or two) to enjoy slowly at home. The Turkish coffee here is the highlight. I usually brew mine with Najjar Green using a traditional cezve, bringing it up and down three times to get the proper thickness and cardamom punch. Too many cafes only do one boil, which makes it thin and flat. Here, the coffee is rich, aromatic, and full-bodied -- just like how my Middle Eastern friends make it at home. I've never been to the Middle East myself, but stepping into this shop -- with the lamps, colors, and atmosphere -- really feels like being transported there. Hands down, the best Turkish coffee I've had in the Bay Area. Maybe LA has more options, but until I try them, this remains my gold standard. -- Dr. C Only writing for what truly earns the stars.

Service was very friendly when we stepped in to check it out. We were offered sampling. The decoration of tiles floor and a beautiful chandelier style head light captured my gaze. The Turkish delights at the counter display were also eye candies.

Enjoyable spot in Cannery Row. Their Turkish coffee was very smooth - no sour notes, but a mellow bittersweet. Plenty of tables outdoors, which is great because I had my dog with me. Not only was the baklava delicious, but I was also given extra treats. I'll be making a visit if I'm ever back in the area.

    1/24/25 FYI. Todays options.

    Ask the Community - Troya

Are the baklava vegan, or do they have honey?

You can find detailed list of ingredients for each of their products on their website: https://troyamry.com/Products . Looks like most of them contain honey or cream thus not vegan.

    Are the turkish delight vegan?

Real lokum is completely vegan; it's made with cornflour - there really is no need to add gelatine, especially as doing so would render it non-vegetarian, much less vegan.

It didn't look like it died down which is awesome for this business. I believe I waited 20-30 minutes in line before I reached the display case. There were so many delicious things to choose from, it was a challenge to decide! I opted for a croissant sandwich, a blue corn cookie, and some sweet treats for the beach. I also ordered a seasonal latte, I believe it was cherry chocolate with oat milk less sweet. There's a nice outdoor seating area with many tables in chairs. Since the weather was nice we decided to stop and eat for a bit. The ambience was very nice and calm. The food was delicious and their house made pickles were fantastic. They were crisp, fresh, and complimented the turkey sandwich so well. The blue corn cookie was very interesting and reminiscent of a tortilla chip. I'd definitely come back here if I were in the area.

Latte was decent, not too bitter or acidic and it was creamy They try a lot of variations for pastries, both savory and sweet! The savory danish was really tasty and there was some pickled / citrus component that added more depth and made it super interesting to eat! The salmon croissant was alright, had a really nice flaky crust but the filling tasted kinda gamey , would've been nice to have another component to balance it out. Cookies were niceeeee the buckwheat choco cookie had nice amounts of sea salt and was like a brownie texture on the inside. Choco chip cookie was thin and crispy on the outside with chocolate blobs spread around, quite sweet though There was a line going out the door but only had to wait around 15 min!

After lunch at Sand Dabs, we stumbled across this really cute café, and it ended up being the perfect stop. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was that they were making fresh taiyaki, those sweet, fish-shaped pastries. The fillings offered were red bean, Nutella, and Oreo. There's a small discount if you order two, so we started with the red bean and Nutella, and honestly, they were so good that wished we ordered the Oreo too...warm, freshly made, and really delicious. I'll admit, I've had Taiyaki desserts before and was never a huge fan, sometimes they're bland or overly sweet. These were different. Even my friend said the same thing, we were both pleasantly surprised by how good they were. We both ordered hot teas, which felt perfect for the rainy weather, and I was totally intrigued by their ramen vending machines. You pick your ramen, choose your toppings, place it in the machine, and it fills with hot water and cooks right there. A few minutes later, your bowl is ready. It felt very Asia-inspired and not something you see very often around here, especially in a café setting. This spot is the café version of their main restaurant, which I believe is on Alvarado Street (I haven't been there yet). The service was genuinely great. The guys working were friendly, patient, and took the time to explain everything to us without rushing. You could tell they enjoyed what they were doing. Because it was raining, it wasn't crowded at all, which made the experience even better. We ended up hanging out for about an hour, just chatting, sipping tea, enjoying dessert, and looking out at the water. They also carry Marianne's Ice Cream, so I'm already planning a return visit on a warmer day. And honestly, next time I'll probably try the ramen too, if only for the fun of it and all the topping choices. Parking around the wharf is paid. We parked in a nearby lot and walked over, which was pretty easy, just something to keep in mind. Overall, the vibe was fun, cozy, and relaxed. Great desserts, a unique experience, kind staff, and a really nice place to spend a rainy afternoon by the water. I'll definitely be back.

I ordered the mango matcha latte, which was a whopping $8.75 ($9.55 after tax). I gulped pressing the "pay" button; part of me wanted to swallow the doubt and see if it was any good. TLDR: it was bad. I'm not sure what the mango is made out of, but it is not smooth like a mango jam or puree. The texture is like blended up unripened mango meat. I will say, matcha taste is there, but the entire drink was just extremely sweet and there was little to no mango taste, besides chewing on the chunks in each sip. It's as if the drink was purposely made extremely sweet to hide the quality of the matcha and fruit. I tried finishing the drink since I paid nearly $10 for it but I couldn't, and had to throw the rest away. However, the worker who made my drink was kind and seems very friendly. The interior is very simple and cute, and there is a nice view of the ocean from the outside seating. I just wouldn't recommend the matcha here. Especially for what I paid for, I am pretty disappointed! :(
