After being sick over the holidays our family made it out to Monterey for some overdue family fun. Dropped by Troy's after dinner and was pleasantly surprised by what we saw- a vibrant shop full of pastries and sweets, teas, pots for sale, and of course coffee. We ended up leaving with some sweet treats and I picked up a cup of cardamom coffee for our walk back to the hotel. Didn't get a chance to try their delights but we will be back! It was my first time visiting AOR~ and I'm so sad it's not close to home! This is definitely a place I'd love to visit frequently, but it looks like I'll stop by every time i get the chance since their Turkish delights are amazing & pastries !!! The service was great & i love that they offer samples & they seem endless TBH. I only purchased chocolate/pistacho baklava, honey walnut baklava, walnut baklava & pistachio baklava. I can honestly say it was reallly really yummy, but not the best chocolate pistachio baklava I've had & it's already incredibly hard to find, especially fresh & authentic kind. It could be because they are previously baked a week ahead & then frozen until they put out a new batch. Luckily, they're still pretty fresh & don't lack in taste! So glad to have discovered this place on Cannery Row in Monterey. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and quick to offer samples of the yummy treats. They have such a huge selection! I highly recommend the Dubai chocolate cake, which was extremely good! I also enjoyed the chocolate baklava and halva. There is a nice atmospheric seating area in the back but most people order for takeout. This will be a regular stop for us whenever we're in the area. read more

To start this post off... my boyfriend and I went here 3 times within our trip (we were there for three days, so everyday) and bought multiple boxes! The Turkish delights were super good, my favorite were the blueberry and Dubai chocolate flavors! The staff there were super nice and very helpful with variety of samples and recommendations! The baklava is defiantly the best this there and one of the reasons why I had to keep going back! I didn't get pictures of the inside but it is so beautiful with the artistic lamps hanging and great ambiance! Will always come back to this spot whenever we're in Monterey and will be ordering from them to ship to own home as well! read more

This little Turkish Coffee and Desert cafe is great. They have a coffee bar with 3 seats and a few small tables. The ceiling lamp is a piece of art. Got the some Pistachio Baklavas, that had to be one of the best desert I've ever had. Not too sweet!! Perfectly made. The Turkish Coffee was very strong and tasty. Was recommended to come here by my cousin and his Lebanese wife. His Lebanese wife's mom from Lebanon also really likes this place which is telling. We came an ordered a little box of some different options. All were delicious - just wow. I'm not even that big of a sweets person, but this place is a must! You definitely pay for the location for sure, but a nice treat that's pretty authentic too. The man behind the corner who helped us was also really nice. read more

Stopped by for some baklava, ended up buying more than just the baklava. I thought pistachio baklava was my favorite, but the walnut baklava here is actually my favorite. Also got the kudaifi and tried some Turkish delights while in store. None were overly sweet and perfectly satisfying. Next time, we'll have to stay for a cup of coffee and tea. read more

Hubby wanted Turkish coffee so we stopped by this little shop on cannery row. The Turkish delights were so stunning!! And all imported from Turkey. We grabbed some for my Dad in a box to go. Ordered a couple of Turkish coffees which if you've never tried it, they're small and strong. They have several types of baklava and halva as well. Ambiance was stunning with the lanterns. It was relaxing to just hang out there. read more

Troya is a beautiful Turkish dessert shop on Cannery Row. I was drawn in by the beautiful decor. The service was friendly and we were offered samples of the Turkish delight. There were rows and rows of different flavors plus another area of baklavas. I love pistachios and left with some baklavas and my husband couldn't resist getting some Turkish Delight. Absolutely fell in love with this place. I was in Monterrey for 4 days, and came here every day. The coffee was the best coffee I have had. It was so creamy, and smooth, with a flavor that I still crave. They have a vast variety of treats to choose from, and they will literally let you sample every item they have. We loved everything in this shop, especially the Turkish delights. They have the basic ones and the more elaborate fancier ones that are really scrumptious! It helps that they serve strong earthy Turkish coffee to counteract the Turkish delights. It's the real coffee, not like one of those fancy whipped cream-topped coffee elsewhere. Am taking a point off only because they have limited seating. Guys, could you have more seats and tables so we can enjoy all the yumminess your shop offers? read more

Dad gummit! We left the aquarium and like heat seeking missiles my kids ended up at the Unfriendly Candy Store and they got their sweets there. Had we simply walked a few doors down we'd've found this place and loaded up on baklava and the like. Maybe a little apple tea to boot. Or, get there in the morning and get some coffee (after noon and coffee keeps me non stop chatting at night). Do yourself a favor and just go here for a little afternoon sweets if you need it. Expensive for the food and stuff that they're offering. Their Turkish delight is $35/lb which is basically a bit over a dollar a piece. Their baklava is $4-6 a piece which is also expensive. The Turkish coffee isn't made through the expected Turkish way with sand that's heated but they do sell the container that it's supposed to be made in. I was left disappointed read more

We stopped in to check out the plethora of Turkish delights and was so overwhelmed. The staff was helpful and friendly and even let us sample a few items which we were appreciative of. We ended up getting a few marshmallow rolls (sold by slice) and baklava. They were all pretty good. The best baklava we have ever had, we devoured them. Highly recommend this place if in Monterey to support this small business and try the best baklava ever. read more

A $12 wedge of pistachio or walnut baklava will take up half of their box. I had not yet read the tip that the baklava was imported from Turkey, so it felt that was being charged tourist prices ($3-5 for a square) I liked lemon hazelnut as well as pomegranate, but I was here for coffee and baklava. I prefer cream and chocolate coffee because a cup of the original is still bitter with a spoonful of sugar, you just have to get used to the strength of Turkish coffee. They will cut samples of Turkish delight for tasting. read more

First time I've tried Turkish delights. Troya leans heavily on the assumption that everyone knows about Turkish delights because of the Chronicles of Narnia movie. They're right in my case. Ask for samples of the Turkish delights. I tried three different flavors. Avoid this place if you have a nut allergy because almost everything has pistachios or walnuts hidden inside. The mulberry delight was the best one. The saffron Turkish delight also looked appealing. The baklava was good, but each one costed a hefty $4 each. They also sell Turkish coffee. If you like strong black coffee, then add a cup to your order. read more

A must-visit spot when hanging out on Cannery Row. Really friendly crew and a feast for your eyes everywhere you look in the store. You immediately get greeted by an attentive and welcoming member of the staff. He was very knowledgable and was considerate of allergies that people in the party had. He knew a lot about the products they were selling and they do allow sample of some of their products. The baklava was delicious and soooo buttery, it just melts in your mouth. The rose petal turkish delight with pistachios was amazingly delicious and we ended up buying some things. I highly recommend stopping by because you'll definitely find something you'll love. Just be aware if you're allergic to hazelnuts or almonds, the majority of their products might have one or both of those in the ingredients. read more

Confectionery perfection! I have never seen such a beautifully decorated dessert shop in my entire life. This specialty sweets shop (mainly for baklavas and Turkish delights) was such a treat to look at while we were shopping in the famous Cannery Row in Monterey last week. Turkish tiles on the floor, Turkish lights on the ceiling. And a display of umpteenth number of Turkish Delight rolls and Baklavas will quickly steal your heart once you've entered the store. You can get samples of whatever rolls that catch your eyes, but you don't even know where to start. The guy behind the counter was generous enough to give me more than several different samples. They all tasted good so he stuffed two-inch size of four different kinds into the smallest box I could get. A little over of a pound of four different Turkish Delights came to $36 with a change. Well, this ain't cheap but the quality is guaranteed. Even if you don't think you'll buy any, just step in to see how beautiful the entire store is. It's like gemstones spilled from a treasure box. I didn't get any of the beverages though. I wish I did. If I'm in town next time, I'll definitely sit down and have a cup of Turkish coffee with a few different types of Turkish Delight and/or Baklava to enjoy my little afternoon. Crossing my fingers for that to happen!! read more

First time trying Turkish Coffee and Tea ^.^ The ambiance is warm and homey. Lots of colorful decor. Sam assisted us and was super friendly. I asked him for a menu and he said, "I'm the menu" and he definitely was. If not, better! Haha He went through all their beverage options, describing flavors and sharing general info. The coffee was strong but good! The Rose Tea was my fav between the two. A bit on the sweeter side but still really good. Eating the little rose petals floating at the top was my favorite part. It taste better than it sounds, I promise! We got to try a few yummy Turkish delights, courtesy of Sam. Tyty! Really pleasant experience, through and through. My husband and I were walking down cannery row and stopped by this cute little Turkish shop. Ambiance here is so warm and cozy. We ordered a Turkish coffee (which was $6 for a teeny shot like cup, so it is pricey). This was my first time having a Turkish coffee and let me tell you, it's STRONG. I can see why the coffee cup is smaller than your average cup of joe. I'd say this probably isn't for everybody and you'd probably have to be a black coffee drinker as is to enjoy this, but I thought that it was decent! Outside of coffee, they also offer a ton of Turkish pastries here in different flavors. Service here was friendly and we were offered a sample of a pastry of our choosing, which was really nice of them. The pastry was delicious and unlike anything I've tried, so I'd recommend it! read more

I've always been a super fan of baklava and was so glad that I found Troya. They have really amazing turkish delight as well, which are fragrant, chewy, and sweet. I could not resist though and bougt 9 of the double pistachio baklava. Super delicious, and great with coffee! It is a bit pricey though so be sure you're ready to spend a little. The interior is also ornate and just amazing. Great service, and they provide very generous samples. Be sure to support this awesome business! read more

This was a delightful surprise on our quick trip to Monterey. Fantastic Turkish delights and baclava. The Turkish coffee was really good. Not quite as dark as my uncle used to make. I highly recommend this spot. It's much better than the campy tourist spots on the street, the staff is friendly and inviting. The space is relaxing and enjoyable. I really like this spot! read more

There were so many delicious things to choose from, it was a challenge to decide! I opted for a croissant sandwich, a blue corn cookie, and some sweet treats for the beach. I also ordered a seasonal latte, I believe it was cherry chocolate with oat milk less sweet. There's a nice outdoor seating area with many tables in chairs. Since the weather was nice we decided to stop and eat for a bit. The ambience was very nice and calm. The food was delicious and their house made pickles were fantastic. They were crisp, fresh, and complimented the turkey sandwich so well. The blue corn cookie was very interesting and reminiscent of a tortilla chip. I'd definitely come back here if I were in the area.

There's a small discount if you order two, so we started with the red bean and Nutella, and honestly, they were so good that wished we ordered the Oreo too...warm, freshly made, and really delicious. I'll admit, I've had Taiyaki desserts before and was never a huge fan, sometimes they're bland or overly sweet. These were different. Even my friend said the same thing, we were both pleasantly surprised by how good they were. We both ordered hot teas, which felt perfect for the rainy weather, and I was totally intrigued by their ramen vending machines. You pick your ramen, choose your toppings, place it in the machine, and it fills with hot water and cooks right there. A few minutes later, your bowl is ready. It felt very Asia-inspired and not something you see very often around here, especially in a café setting. This spot is the café version of their main restaurant, which I believe is on Alvarado Street (I haven't been there yet). The service was genuinely great. The guys working were friendly, patient, and took the time to explain everything to us without rushing. You could tell they enjoyed what they were doing. Because it was raining, it wasn't crowded at all, which made the experience even better. We ended up hanging out for about an hour, just chatting, sipping tea, enjoying dessert, and looking out at the water. They also carry Marianne's Ice Cream, so I'm already planning a return visit on a warmer day. And honestly, next time I'll probably try the ramen too, if only for the fun of it and all the topping choices. Parking around the wharf is paid. I ordered the mango matcha latte, which was a whopping $8.75 ($9.55 after tax). I gulped pressing the "pay" button; part of me wanted to swallow the doubt and see if it was any good. TLDR: it was bad. I'm not sure what the mango is made out of, but it is not smooth like a mango jam or puree. The texture is like blended up unripened mango meat. I will say, matcha taste is there, but the entire drink was just extremely sweet and there was little to no mango taste, besides chewing on the chunks in each sip. It's as if the drink was purposely made extremely sweet to hide the quality of the matcha and fruit. I tried finishing the drink since I paid nearly $10 for it but I couldn't, and had to throw the rest away. However, the worker who made my drink was kind and seems very friendly. The interior is very simple and cute, and there is a nice view of the ocean from the outside seating. I just wouldn't recommend the matcha here. Especially for what I paid for, I am pretty disappointed! :(

So I quickly explained what we wanted. The coffee was good. A nice smooth roast. Because of the crowds, I didn't get to look around. Is it just me, or has coffee really gotten expensive.

In good french bakery will never advertise $30 for 5 pastries. We ordered cappuccino and cafe a'laite . Worst ever. Bitter and tasted cheap cheap coffee. This is not french bakery/patisserie it was once. I doubt that it is under the same ownership. So very disappointing.
