Quaint little mom and pop brewery in small town USA. Took a little road trip down to Southeastern Minnesota with my sights set on visiting Trout City. Found out from the owners the building used to be and old bank, then a antique store, and now a brewery. On my visit they only had 4 beers they brew themselves and another handful of guess taps to keep the locals happy. The son of the owners does all the brewing on the weekends as his side job. Worth the trip down to Preston to visit a true family owned and operated business!

Two Fathoms Brewing is an independent craft brewery in Winona, MN, located in a restored 1883 freight station in the historic Driftless region. they offer a rustic taproom experience with some great brews. "Anybody Want a Peanut?": A Porter made with real peanut butter and milk chocolate giving it the depth of flavor with none of the artificial tastes. New Riders of the Pilsner Haze: A New Zealand Pilsner hopped with Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin, and SubZero Hop Kief. The Owl Farm Experiment: An Experimental IPA brewed with Strata, Mosaic, and Galaxy. Tropical fruit smacks you in the face with citrus and peach coming in the next round. The Diesel Fitzgerald: A Dunkel using Midnight Wheat and Dark Munich malts. It is a beautiful Dark Wheat lager that is light in bodied but full in flavor. Crooked Slough: A Barrel Aged Stout aged Eighteen Months in Bourbon Barrels that were still wet with Vermont Maple Syrup. Very maple forward, but not hot or overly sweet. ___

I got a flight while the kiddo got a northern soda (grape). We didn't stay long enough, had camping reservations but will definitely be back, hopefully. Staff were very friendly, plenty of parking. They even have a couple pinball machines to keep the kiddos entertained.

The brewery itself is really well-built with a cozy, welcoming vibe. There's plenty of seating inside, plus a great outdoor area that I can imagine would be perfect on a warm day. They offer a great variety of beers to suit most palates. We tried a flight that included: * Lanesbrew American Lager - Crisp and super refreshing, one of our favorites. * Willow Citrus Wheat Ale - Light and citrusy, great for an easy sip. * Gnarly Old Ale - Rich, flavorful, and full of character--definitely a standout. * Butterbeer Weisse - A fun, slightly sweet way to wrap things up. It made a great final note to the tasting. On top of the drinks, they also offer pizza and a few snacks onsite, which is a nice bonus if you're feeling a little hungry while you sample. Overall, Sylvan Brewery is a solid stop if you're in or around Lanesboro. Great beer, good vibes, and I'm sure the view gets even better as the season turns. Would definitely return!

They provide traditional styles, a great space both inside and out, and a very welcoming staff. I grabbed a flight and went outside to soak up sun and enjoy the beers. Lazy Day IPA: A Juicy New England IPA with medium citrus and medium-low bitterness. A hint of spice and a bit of sweetness from a lactose addition. Frontage Road Toasted Coconut: A Stout with toasted coconut additions - a variation on their standard Frontage Road Stout. Medium-high coconut and toasted nut flavors, low dark coffee bitterness, and hint of vanilla sweetness. Body on the lighter side which makes it possible to enjoy on a warm sunny day. Golden Coffee Ale: A Golden Ale with medium-high coffee bitterness, light black pepper, and mild nutty / floral finish. Very refreshing with strong coffee flavors in a lighter bodied beer without being astringent and my favorite of the four! Serendipity: A house made Ginger Beer sitting at 4.6% ABV. You don't see a Ginger Beer on tap very often so I had to grab it. This one had lemon and lime added, and they use it as a base for ginger beer based mixed drinks as well. This had a lighter ginger flavor with high carbonation. Would love to try it in a cocktail! ______________________

Kinney Creek stood out because their seltzers not only had the longest sample lines, but their flavors/taste easily surpassed any other seltzer brand that day. Every seltzer I tried that day tasted artificial and fake. Kinney Creek's seltzers stood out because they were smoother and tasted more natural. I was super bummed out when I googled to find that their taproom was only in Rochester. Chances of me being anywhere near there was slim to none unless I deliberately drive to Rochester. Fast forward a couple months, we find ourselves conveniently driving through Rochester enroute back to the cities and happily made a stop. The taproom surpassed my expectations! Lots of seating available - leather sofas, high tops, games galore, build your own 6 pack seltzers, pizzas and snack foods on menu, large beer menu (shout out to the beermosa). This is the type of place where you want to take your friends and just chill for hours. It's such a inviting atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. My only regret is that it's not closer to the cities - please consider opening a taproom in Minneapolis!
