They make their own unique veggie 'sausage' with a kick (unexpected in MN and appreciated as a non meat eater!) and ingredients seem very fresh. I have made the trek back multiple times and even in the off-season, my partner and my dad are still talking about it! It is all outdoors and the tables scattered around get filled quickly, expect to eat picnic style unless you get there early. There is space to roam/ play (bring a ball, frisbee, etc) and a walking trail. I have not attended their events/ shows or shopped there but I have seen they have a variety of activities advertised if that's your thing. Tips: *Arrive early - they do sell out of pizzas *Bring cash (as of the time of this review) *Bring drinks and appies because the pizzas take a while to cook (1h +/- 15m in my experience) *Plan to haul in/ haul out whatever you bring *Expect to lose cell service (remember those last few turns if you usually rely on maps and pre-plan a meeting spot if you're driving separately from the rest of your group)

The vegetarian sausage was very good. Bring your own garbage bag, plates, beverages and some extra chairs. They have picnic tables but most were taken when we got there around 5:30. Get there early to place your pizza orders! We got into line around 5:30, ordered at 6 and received our pizzas around 6:45. It was a perfect place to relax, visit, and enjoy the beautiful scenery so we didn't mind the wait. There isn't cell phone service so make sure you communicate anything you need to before you arrive. We will definitely be back!

I don't eat desserts, so getting bite size chocolate candy is the perfect treat. I love the bar atmosphere and the way it is decorated. It is clean, classy, and comfortable. The service is fitting for a bar. I love that the owner comes out and talks to his guest. Last night it was to confirm how Tony wanted his raw burger done. This place is an absolute gem!…read more The parking lot is small, but it's conveniently located at the top of the hill. There's also some additional parking on the other side of the restaurant. We've never had any trouble finding parking, but we usually arrive around 5 or 6 PM. If you're a fan of red meat, this is the place for you. I've tried both the ribeye and the prime rib, and both were absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes are generous for the price, so I always end up with leftovers. The prime rib is perfectly seasoned with a nice crust. I usually order my steaks medium rare, and they've always come out just right, except for one time when I got an end piece that I sent back. They quickly replaced it and agreed that it was more medium than rare. The jalapeño poppers are delicious, and the house salad is equally tasty. I always get the hashbrowns as a side, while my friend usually gets the brussels sprouts and the au gratin. I've never tried anything else, but I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you order. But the pie is the star of the show! Get the French Silk pie, made from scratch by the owner. The crust has just the right amount of saltiness to complement the rich chocolate mousse filling. The mousse isn't too dense, but it's not as light as meringue either. If you're a chocolate lover, you absolutely must try it. Pro tip: If you're there on a busy night, it might be a good idea to order your pie when you order your food. I did this one night because I was dreaming of the pie all week, and I'm so glad I did. Unfortunately, they ran out by the time the rest of our table ordered dessert, but my waiter had set aside my piece just for me, so I was able to enjoy it.

Sometimes teeney tiny towns simply have the best food! The Wolf's Den is just such a place!…read moreDuring our stay close to Ostrander we were getting ready for our niece's wedding which would be where we were staying. Steve's sister was getting pulled left and right on the wedding details and had other social events to attend to besides that. One night she went to the Wolf's Den for one of these social events. She brought home leftover pizza from the Wolf's Den. We all tried a piece and we instantly fell in love with it. The pizza slices are huge, the toppings were fresh and the crust and pizza dough were standouts! And that was left over pizza! We were told of the Wolf's Den for sometime now through phone calls with his sister. After trying what it was like cold we had to make a stop here for good, hot fresh pizza before we came back home to Washington. And we did. We stopped by here one evening and ordered a Supreme pizza and a Pepperoni pizza to take back to where we were staying. The fresh pizza was simply amazing and all those features that we liked on the pizza slices were magnified when it was fresh and hot! It did not take long after chowing down on a couple of these slices and we were full as ticks! Steven and I often drag our feet when it comes to going to visit rural America but whenever we go see his sister, Judy it will give us an added spring in our step because we will insist on having to fit in another trip to the Wolf's Den! P.S. The Wolf's Den is also a bar and serves other food as well besides pizza but it is unavoidable not to try the pizza at least once!
