I ordered a Parka, as a gift, from MEC's online Black Friday sale on November 29, 2024. Having…read morebeen in the Edmonton south common store a few days before, and observing many in stock, the deal was too good not to order. As I placed my order, it indicated that the downtown store was "Next Day Pick Up". Given that I wanted to pick up as soon as possible, I selected the downtown store, even though the location is terribly inconvenient for me. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. I've been a supporter of MEC for over 25 years, and have never seen such awful customer service or a absolute lack of responsibility in fulfilling an order - for that matter, I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing exchange with any store, ever, than this experience. I will never again shop at MEC. Shame on you, MEC. Not the MEC I once knew

BE WARNED!!! I recently bought a bike online, and when I received it, the bike had different…read morecomponents than was listed online. It had 3 different, cheaper components. When I inquired about this, they stated they are not responsible for their online listings. The only solution they offered me was a 20% discount through their website if I want to buy alternate parts, though most parts are out of stock. They refused to admit fault nor apologize (after giving them ample opportunity to do so) and after reaching out to the owner, Paul, he essentially said I should be grateful to recieve a shipped bike and that it was packaged to begin with (no jokes!). They made it clear that I was in the wrong for not being grateful or happy with their solution. So if you buy something online, you might not get what you ordered, and you will be stuck (and it will be your fault).

Wait times are weeks, so you need to book early. The place feels more upscale and they likely are paying higher rent. A basic bicycle tune up is now $150. And it doesn't include the wheels. A nearby bike shop is only $100. And they quoted replacement sprockets and chain would get me over $400 dollars. So this place seems expensive in my view. For that price I could just buy a new bike. Hippy types at the front counter in hoodies, wish they had clear identifiable work attire. Selection of bikes and accessories is good so I would go there for that but I would seek bike service elsewhere.

The sales person said it was all checked out by their technicians. Furthermore, I found the manager of the store to be arrogant from the store in St. Alberta base on his attitude. This bike store is suppose to specialize in bikes, but receiving it with flaws after they told me that is check by their technicians is unacceptable. If they cannot address simple matters than what more can they do. I would suggest going to MEC for your future bike purchase.

My…read morelatest experience there really solidified a 5-star experience as I went in a little glum after having a bike stolen yet left Revolution excited at the prospect of getting a bike. Revolution has an enormous selection with bikes that will serve every function along a wide price spectrum. They specialize in Cannondale, Scott, Specialized, and Cube with a few other makes in the shop. Whether you're looking for a sleek road bike, something for downhill, or a fat bike to keep riding year round their selection is very very comprehensive. I was shopping for a new commuter and I was incredibly impressed by the product knowledge of the staff and their ability to help me think a little outside the box when it came to shopping around. I found the staff to be impressively able to rattle off detailed product information while also translating that deeper knowledge into the more tangible rider experience. I ended up buying a Cannondale touring bike which was steeply discounted due to the rapid approach of winter. Revolution has some pretty great sales so if you're savvy enough to shop in the off-seasons, you'll get a lot more bang for your buck! In addition to selling bikes, they also have events and classes and some pretty great space downstairs for their events. Overall, this is a great shop with a variety of services and I'm thrilled with the bike I ended up with and the price I paid for it.

They also have state of the art bike fitting, which is a must if you are planning to spend $4000 + on a bike... The guy working at the shop was very helpful and informative. He showed my around the shop and their fitting machine. I wasn't there to commit to a bike, but only to look. That being said I would definitely purchase through them when I decided to upgrade. I like the small custom shops, as they are more attentive to your needs, and if you have the funds and are looking in this price range, you want a shop that will take care of you. These bikes can last a long time if well taken care of.

For the rest of us, the bikes here are likely beyond our needs.

We went for specific shoes and were brought multiple other shoes and only one in a size close to being what we asked for - close being a weird thing in reference to asking for a shoe size. Anyways. We felt like we were begging to buy something. Is it your shops practice to not offer other sizes other options for ordering or the correct thing? I was met with the feeling "we are done here" or maybe confusion? every time I asked for help to buy something. I wanted a helmet, maybe a water bottle holder, some shit to spice my spin bike. Let me? As a business owner this would be discouraging to hear, especially with covid - but we literally have to buy elsewhere as your associate gave us zero options for a product YOU SELL. So heads up. People want to buy locally and from your business - it's not easy.
