Took my bike in to get serviced, and replace the chain assembly. Admittedly my bike was in VERY rough shape when I brought it in, but the mechanic (Derek) who helped me was very polite, honest and helpful. Gave me a rough quote when I brought it in and when they found another issue, promptly called me to ask how I wanted to proceed with it. After dropping my bike off, it was repaired the very next day. What an easy and smooth process! The folks on the phone were also just as helpful. Definitely going to make this my regular bike shop!! read more

Left feeling disappointed I was unable to shop at a local business. I went for a thousand helmet and some Shimano ic5 spin shoes. I left with nothing due to no sizes being available. I would have gladly ordered some and bought a helmet but felt like the customer service preference was we just leave. I'm not saying the gentleman who I spoke to wasn't polite but you sell shoes? You are unable to offer to order some or get that money in your till with an alternate suggestion? Just felt let down because I was maybe not the usual shopper here. read more

Two follow-up experiences were very positive. My lock failed on the front shock. They will get the part then call me for warranty replacement that will be done within 3 hours. A wobble had just developed on my 2-month-old Fuji Nevada 15 with 29" wheels. I took it in and they immediately assessed the cause to be loose spokes. They tightened them up while I waited. 20 minutes later the bike was fixed. They had torqed the spokes to spec. While I waited I got excellent sales help about carriers and bags. They were also able to update me about a rear rack that I was interested in. They had sold the last one as I had entered the stored a few days earlier. They had just confirmed the supplier had a shipment arriving in 3 days and gave me a date by which new stock would be in their store. read more

I made an appointment to have my bike serviced and waited patiently for 4 weeks and when the day came to have it picked up Redbike was a no show. They made me wait 4 weeks only to tell me that they can't pick up my bike. No Integrity. Period! Take my advice and go elsewhere for your biking needs. read more

So I was in the market for a new helmet and thought I'd check out Redbike because it was close and I like to support locally owned bike shops. After roughly 20 minutes of looking at helmets and having no salesman ask if I needed help or had any questions, I broke down and asked one of the guys behind the counter for a hand. He seemed annoyed at this because I interrupted his conversation with another salesman. He was quite knowledgeable and helped me pick out a good fitting helmet. I thought that while I was there I would ask about some of the full suspension bikes they had. Again he acted quite annoyed. He gave me some information but I could tell he didn't want to talk to me about it. I bought the helmet which I still regret doing. There were 3 employees in the shop at the time and I felt like they didn't want me there. I've heard several other people say that they felt Redbike is an "exclusive" bike shop and I now understand why. Yes they have great products, and maybe even a good repair and service crew but their front end sales sucks. Made me feel like an outsider. I would spend more money at another locally owned store rather than there again. read more

The first few times I wandered into RedBike I must admit were a bit of a rough-go. Everything I wanted was out of my price range or not what I had pictured. And, I had found the staff to be of the bike-snob variety. However, on my last visit there I was definitely impressed! I was looking for a new bike for myself having just sold my old bike. The salesman that helped me (wish I could remember his name!!) was AWESOME. He showed me a variety of bikes, helped explain them to me, tried to get me the best bang for my buck possible and even let me ride them around the block. My experience was going so well that I didn't even realize we had gone long past closing time. I felt so bad! However, the salesman was not bothered by this and wrote out all my choices on a card with their corresponding websites. Although I have not yet decided on a bike I'd have to say RedBike definitely helped my decision making process. I'll definitely be going back here for a purchase in the very near future. read more

I took my bike in for service at Redbike this week after a few rave reviews from friends on their attitude and service. I am not an avid biker and will admit felt a bit out of my element. The staff was friendly, took a look over my old bike, gave me an estimate on the spot of what I needed done, and then when I picked up my bike, the bill was cheaper than quoted. I recently went to RedBike for some cycle repair. The staff there are incredible, honest and professional. They assisted me in getting work done on my bike and even suggesting other parts and fixes that in then end saved me money and where cheaper as well. I love their attitude, I love the friendliness atmosphere and their overall attention to the customer than the pocket book. Most places are in for the money. They are in for the experience. But what made my day and struck me the most was the fact that they were able to recycle used parts to use for others instead of throwing them out. Redbike is very eco-friendly, and they exude a service that no one else can match. I would have paid nearly double at other places. They were affordable and complimentary on rates. I highly recommend Redbike over any other bike shop and store in Edmonton. read more

I ventured into Redbike for the first time today. The small store and shop is a bicycle enthusiasts dream. Dream, I say, because most of the prices are beyond the means of most avid peddlers. I saw a very sleek mountain bike for $4000 and some very comfy cruisers and commuting bikes, also for high prices. There is a selection of accessories, clothing, and tools, and the service area seemed quite busy. Still, I had a fun time looking, and if I ever came into money I would consider getting one of the stylish cruisers. read more

Purchasing one of the more expensive bikes, we took our time and "test drove" (well, pedaled around the block) a variety of bikes - and all the while, the patient salesperson was friendly and kept offering helpful suggestions. What a cute little store! I'm in the market for a bike and when I have saved up enough I will definitely be headed to this store. The bicycles here are adorable and so European. They have a wide variety of baskets to put on your bike (ADORABLE!) and the staff are so nice! The bike i want is Tiffany's blue and I would look so perfect riding it to University. I want to ride that bike to picnics and through the river valley with my future puppy. I think it's safe to say that I love the bikes here. My only criticism is that the online store is tough to navigate and doesn't show all the bikes they have, or the prices. Other than that I'm a huge fan of Red Bike! Five stars from me! read more

My experience with Redbike has been a wonderful one... I purchased 2 Brompton folding bicycles from them after researching folding bicycles for two years. I have a wonderful relationship with the sales and service staff at Redbike and I highly recommend this bike store to anyone considering a new or used bike. They also have a top notch service department that will keep your bicycle running in top form. Redbike is located very close the the U of A in Edmonton. Upon entering the bike shop you will find yourself overjoyed by the almost magical atmosphere... hardwood floors, brick walls, and wooden structures house the large selection of bicycles, displayed in an old world fashion. You will find the sales staff extremely helpful, and you will be asked a series of questions that will guide you in the process of selecting just the right bike. Cliff and Brent are the owners of this bike shop, Mark and Jay are the seriously devoted employees with a great deal of knowledge and dedication. Derek and Kim are in the service department and they are fully dedicated to fixing your bike so that you will have the ultimate bike experience. I have to give them both 5 stars in their abilities as competent bike mechanics. If you are considering a bike purchase make sure to stop in at Redbike and give them a try. This bike shop charged over $80 to put a bicycle in a box, something any good bike mechanic can do in less than five minutes. Charging over $80 to put a bike in a box is obscene. On top of that, they told the person who asked to have the bike boxed it would cost $130 to ship it, and they would use a courier. They then shipped it via Greyhound for a cost of $44.30. This bike shop are gougers and should be boycotted. read more

Having looked at 2 other stores with Norco/Specialized, I went in to do a comparison. The bikes in this store, with same features, cost more because they are 'Canadian'. When I asked the salesperson to give more details, he said the bikes are likely made in the same Chinese factory as the competitors, but cost more because the office is in Canada. According to their sales team, the product is not worth the money. read more

I've been into Redbike three times now, and come out annoyed each time. As other reviewers have noted, there's a very "exclusive" vibe to the place...aka brooding employees and generally bad customer service. The only time anyone is ever happy is when they're taking my money. I find them incredibly overpriced for both items and service, and they act like you're putting them out when you ask questions and betray the fact that you're not as knowledgeable about biking as they are (big surprise). Beyond being overpriced, it's the only shop I know of that will charge for the installation of accessories/components bought at the store. I was going to buy a basket there once, for the bike I had ridden to the store, and asked if they could install it on my bike so I could get it home. For a 30-second procedure, they said it would cost $5. For a $50 basket I was buying right then! Needless to say, I didn't get the basket, and actually found a better one at MEC for $24. Avoid this place unless you enjoy pretentiousness and have money to burn. read more
