It is rare for me to find a spot that keeps my palate this curious. The menu is is delcious and…read moredifferent - they use ingredients you just don't see everywhere, but it never feels like it's too much. Every time I visit, I end up ordering something different - and I haven't had a bad dish yet. The cocktails are expertly crafted. The service has been great (we sit at the bar). If you're tired of the same old menus at every other restaurant, go here. It's easily become my favorite reliable-yet-exciting neighborhood spot.

We've come here twice and ordered the following- First time…read morefor brunch: chicken and waffles, mushroom omelette, and a side of beignets. Overall, everything tasted great (esp the fried chicken and home fries) and the portions were massive to just right. If there were a few kinks to iron out, I'd say that the beignets weren't really airy and some of the mushroom stems in the omelette were really tough and should've been discarded before cooking. Next for dinner: their fried chicken dinner which came with Mac and cheese, collard greens/broccolini, cornbread, and the tempura hake, and a side of cornbread with pecan butter. That pecan butter was delicious, we definitely asked for more. The fried chicken dinner was also amazing, every single dish in it. The hake while crispy, didn't have enough salt. The server fixed it immediately with a side of garlic aioli and that was great. If I could make a suggestion, I would say they should swap out the celery root slaw for something that goes better with the fish. Service was excellent both times. Very friendly and accommodating, always asking if we enjoyed our meal and they were quick to make things right if we had requests. Ambiance is really nice, very warm, inviting, perfect for a sit down meal. Apart from a few kinks in their dishes (which I'm sure they can resolve), I'd give them 5 stars.

These ladies (though both fairly new to the bar) were warm, engaging and respectful - checked in just enough to make sure we were happy and enjoying, but were never disruptive or intrusive. The food was delicious, as were the mocktail/lemonade we ordered. Multiple managers also did a quick table (bar) touch to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. Great time all around, would highly recommend, thank you

(Shout out to Dj Khalid) She was the hostess with the mostest!! She knew everything excellent to order, was attentive w/o being intrusive, and her bubbly personality was a plus. Now. About the food. Fluffy Eggs althoughI couldn't taste the jalapeno cheese, excellent pork sausage, french toast and pancakes were awesome. My sisters complaint was about the jalapeno cheese. Y'all gotta get a better jalapeno cheese or add a real jalapeno to it. The other issue was, the smashed potatoes were inconsistent due to the salt content. However, everything else ordered was very good. By the way. Met the manager. Her name is Ms. Abigail. Talk about accommodatingly awesome! With her confident and compassionate customer service acumen, she made everthing perfect. We'll be back soon. Hope to see y'all here in the near future.

A shockingly enjoyable experience…read more We were looking for a restaurant in the area, and weren't feeling any of the other options. The staff was super nice when we came in, We had the Jerk Berger, Garlic Fries and Baby Back Ribs with Plantain fries. Both were cooked well and had a really good flavor from the meat, and also the spicing and flavor were quite good. It sounds like they may be refreshing the interior, I would agree that would help as it felt a bit lost in design, and also a bit tired. I would definitely go back for the staff and the food.

It pains me to write this review but I hope it's seen by management and they address this issue. I had a friend visiting from another state (drove for 10 hours in snow and ice). I was excited to bring them here for brunch. I made a reservation online the day before just in case. We arrived at 10am and the doors were locked. The hours said they'd be open at 9am. Tried getting the staff's attention but it seemed like we were being ignored. I called the phone number several times. No one picked up even though I could see staff inside. I even tried sending them a message on social media but no response. We ended up going to the breakfast spot next door. When we were done, we walked past the restaurant and of course it was open then. Needless to say, this experience was super disappointing. Communication about updated hours or picking up the phone isn't too much to ask for. One bad experience isn't a dealbreaker but two will be. I hope management fixes this quickly.

My late…read moreSunday morning visit had stress potential due to a line, but they banged it out effortlessly and I was seated in no time. Typical nostalgic decor with entertainers of the 1950s, keeping with the diner's name. -- Patty Melt: This is the reason I came, as I'm searching for great ones, and theirs is right up there. American cheese (a little outside the standard Swiss), choice of bread (I went marble rye), and optional add-ons (I chose grilled onions, which you'd think would be standard). Excellent execution. Griddled bread with just enough butter, just enough crunch, and no sogginess. Beef soft, with a loose grind, cooked to a juicy medium rare, and with nice beef flavor (too many diner versions use stiff, el cheapo patties; this was quality sourcing a couple steps up). And melty cheese and soft onions complementing while letting the beef sing loudest. No one ingredient was artisanal-level premium, but every aspect was handled beautifully. -- Fries (included with the Patty Melt): Alas, the dreaded "coated" kind, an obvious frozen product. Hot, crisp, and plentiful, so it could've been worse. No biggie; the patty melt was good enough for this not to matter. I can't emphasize enough how well-run the place is. The friendly veteran servers move like clockwork and could easily drop a "honey" on you with every interaction, but that would merely add a delay. Instead, they show their dedication with sincere smiles, initiative, and time-learned precision. It's a joy to behold. Normally I'd hold off on a 5 based on such a small sample size, but the food and shakes I saw going out all looked good, and that service excellence cliched it.
