On arrival, the 1st young lady was very kind to me. The employee walked me through the menu and helped me feel less nervous than I was concerned about. I asked if I could try a sample, and she said yes. The young lady asked her partner for a small selection for me to taste. The employee, now known as Priscilla, informed the coworker no. Priscilla approached me and said I couldn't get a sample because they just got a big catering order and were low on the items. Wow, I was blown. What that has to do with me, I thought to myself. I have gone to this smoothie place the most out of any other because it's near my job. Typically I order the triple berry oats or the detox island green smoothie. I use the tropical smoothie app every time I purchase something because eventually I'll be rewarded with $5 off. Overall the smoothies are a little gritty (and expect to find a seed or two in your teeth), but they are tasty. I do sometimes miss my dear Smoothie King that was next to my house in south Florida because the smoothies were a bit creamier, but overall this establishment does not disappoint. The menu provided many options for smoothie lovers except they didn't have any peaches left!!! Ohmgosh!!! I was very disappointed so I asked for something else (mango and pineapple) and unfortunately the smoothie was so watery, bland, no delicious smoothie taste. Again I was disappointed and felt like I wasted money. I'm not sure if I want to risk going again since the smoothies there are quite pricy. One good thing is that I got $2 off for checking in!!! I really like the smoothies and food available here. I usually order one of the smoothies that comes with a scoop of protein to really make a complete meal. The Korean tacos were amazing! I just moved over here from the West Orlando area. I would always order from the Kirkman location. I've been ordering from this location very often for the past few weeks. When it comes to the smoothies, it really is a hit or miss. I always order the Island Green. About 50% of the time, the smoothie will not be sweet like it's supposed to be, it will taste more grassy. When it comes to the customer service, it is really sub-par. Employees are always goofing off. Today for instance, I ordered on the app the Island Green smoothie with a TBR sandwich. My smoothie was ready for me when I arrived and was sitting on the shelf.so I assumed someone was working on my sandwich. I say that I was standing there for almost ten minutes while they were laughing and goofing around with no acknowledgement at all. Finally I say "Excuse me, but I ordered a sandwich as well." The lady looks up at the screen then says "Oh yeah sorry".(with little meaning). Even though this location is less than two miles from my house, I'd rather travel a little further out to the Winter Park location. I love Tropical smoothie cafe, if I had done this review earlier with would have had a higher star level. However, they just raised thier prices & I am not happy about that. I usualy go here when on the go and want something healthy. I usually just get smoothies. My favorite is the Totally green with added in soy protein. Add-ins cost extra. If you sign up for their txting club you do get discouts at times, but nothing regular. Their staff is very friendly and nice. They have made mistakes on my smoothies twice, forfetting the add-in I paid extra for. But they willing fix it or give you a free smoothie next time. I work in the service industry. I've had guests come in 15, 10, and even 2 minutes before closing in a full service restaurant. Sure, it can be disappointing when you've done all your side work and it's been a long day, however, you work the closing shift, it's bound to happen. The young man behind the counter said something inaudible when my mother and I walked in. Here is the convo word for word: "You guys are such fail masters!" *no smile, no just kidding, no laugh* Me: "Excuse me?" "Fail masters. I already cleaned my station." Me: "Already? That's early. Its 8:50. If it makes you feel any better we're just getting smoothies." "Not really. I already cleaned that too." Me: "Well I appreciate you accommodating us." ....*crickets...crickets* And then we proceeded to order. I truly am the person to tell friends or family to let things go when there is a mishap at a restaurant. However, this blatant *fail* at customer service was just too much. If the closing time posted was 8:50 PM we would've not stepped in the door, however, closing is 9pm. All he had to do was say "hello. What can I get for you?" Pretty sure he still was able to walk out the door at 8:59 after cleaning the two blenders. Don't think I'll be visiting again with that attitude. read more
