We would have an event to go to in the evening and to make sure we had at least one meal in our busy day I made a reservation for Afternoon Tea on the website for 3:30 PM on Friday. In that way, everybody could get there from work. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation and were shown shortly to our table. I'm glad that our Afternoon Tea would be indoors because it was quite humid. Noah would be our server. We asked for help with our tea choice as we were debating between Jasmine Pearl and Jasmine Blossom. Noah made a good recommendation with the Jasmine Pearl. We liked it so much that we had 3 pots adding water. Noah also offered a choice of another tea to the delight of the young ladies in our party who wanted a black tea having worked early morning shifts. They chose the Earl Grey. Noah let us know that even though it was a set menu that we could add on other food from the menu. The young ladies seriously considered ordering sesame Dan Dan noodles before the delivery of the 2-3 tier serving stands with sweet and savory delights from the kitchen. The manager or one of the leads from the kitchen introduced the offerings on the 3 tiers. There were 2 savory tiers which are the middle and bottom. The bottom tier has Honey Walnut Shrimp Youtiao, BBQ Pork Puff Pastry, and Tea Egg Sandwich with Taiwanese bread. The middle tier is your vegetable crudite with whipped tofu and chili crunch and flatbread. The top tier is your sweet desserts of mango sago pudding (the ladies appreciated the garnishing with a small, delicate flower), egg tart with raspberry and a fleck of gold, fresh strawberry slices, and black sesame cookies with an extra one for the member of our party with a coconut allergy. Each of the 4 in our party also was delivered a bamboo steamer with 3 plump Siu Mai. The very plump Siu Mai had everybody looking for vegetables which we liked with the whipped tofu and chili crunch which we have eaten in the Mapo Lamb Dip. We liked scooping up the whipped tofu with the flatbread. Other teas give you miniscule portions. The pork puff pastry is generous and we had to go halfsies or we wouldn't have room for dessert. The most favored item was the honey walnut shrimp youtiao which we have not had anywhere else. The tea egg sandwich is topped with a quarter of a hard-boiled egg giving you more egg. The raspberry on the egg tart was fresh and sweet. The strawberry slices were also fresh and sweet. The half of the party that could have the mango sago pudding enjoyed it tremendously. The black sesame cookies were buttery and nutty which was wonderful to have with the jasmine pearl tea. We had plenty to eat and a few pastries and Siu mai to take home. We were in no way rushed so we really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea. Regular customers were seated elsewhere in the restaurant and it was quite peaceful and restful after a hard day's work. This is a great Afternoon Tea to bring a mother, too. My daughter found out that the tea service used was from Williams Sonoma Famille Rose collection. My taste is more contemporary, but roses are my favorite flower and it was still a nice tea setting. I loved my belated birthday tea as did everyone in my party even the man of the family. I will need to bring my girlfriends. My father would enjoy this as well. We're so glad that Qua started having this Afternoon Tea.

I walked in and was reminded of my way to cool week in Cuzco only without the crushing headache from the altitude. The place is pretty inside with a beach front vibe to it. The walls are white with murals of fish in schools. The dining room is bright, attractive and filled with comfortable four tops with room to spread out. A cute Bar offers the usual suspects you'll find at a Latin resto to keep your appetizers company. The staff is practiced at getting your food from the kitchen to your table efficiently. Gabriel was focused on keeping the dishes coming and making suggestions when requested or required. At 5:00 PM the place was empty save for waiters waiting for the action to start. Make a nest and in a wink a Server will drop off a basket of house made Potato Chips as good as any Potato Chip ever dreamed of becoming. Salty, super crunchy, greaseless, they was. Truly memorable. Perfect just as they are, there was a bonus...a cup of Huanciana Peruvian Aji Chile and Potato Sauce to take a skinny dip in. Them chips were tasty treats you wish you could stop eating...but you simply can't. A Coconut Daiquri with Plantation Xaywaca (Rum), Salted Fermented Mango, Lime Acids, and Lemon Juice all in an Old Fashioned Glass and a large rock sprinkled with Shredded Coconut. A Rum Yummer and perfect with those magical Chips. The next dish out was the Piqueo Rocoto Mar which was a mas-o-menos tray of four square cups of Causa Shrimp, a fugitive from a bland Jambalaya, Fried Calamari, which were as chewy as an Air Jordon Tongue, Ceviche Mixto (with unknown raw fish) with Salmon Roe, and sadly none of this was remarkable. The last cup offered Grilled Octopus Tentacles which I stopped eating since I watched My Octopus Teacher twice. Being polite I cut off a hunk. It was Octo Chewing Gum. More time in the poaching liquid before grilling might have helped as the Mild Chili Sauce ladled over the Octo arms was decent enough. The Grilled Peruvian Scallops were excellent. Grilled just right, served in the shell with a Buttery Sauce and a sprinkle of Grated Parmesan Cheese. Pry the little buggahs out of their shell, and enjoy each and every one and finish by slurping the juice. Think of this as Peruvian Coquilles St. Jacques. Move the Scallops to the corner nearest you where you hid the last of those Potato Chips. The Acevichado was a Nikkei Style Sushi Roll, (two ample rows) and you know, all things considered, it was pretty good. Bluefin Tuna Loin, Acevichado Sauce (Aji Chili/Mayo Sauce), Sweet Potato Crunch (MIA), Togarashi (Japanese Chili Powder), and Panko which must have eloped with the Sweet Potato Crunch all in two tight rolls. Finally, the finale appeared. Aji di Gallina. Shredded Dakao Poultry Chicken with Creamy Walnut Sauce (masquerading as the ubiquitous Huancaina Potato-y Sauce), Aji Mirasol, (mild Peppers), Mashed Potatoes with Olives. Yes, the menu said Shredded Chicken so that was not a surprise. (Think Peruvian Tinga. I thought fridge clean out). However there were bits of skin hangin' on for dear life, and tendrils of stringy connective tissue like a spider web that followed each fork full that had to be pulled off the chicken. Bottom line it was Pollo de Bandas de Goma, para me, no gracias. Rocoto Pesaca Bar otra vez? Tal vez.
