This is one of my favorite restaurants in Greer. Tropical Grille has high quality food and amazing sauces that the whole family will enjoy. Whenever I go, I order their deluxe bowl. This is a bowl that contains yellow rice, chicken, beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. I then put a reasonable amount of the chipotle ranch sauce on my bowl. Finally, I mix up the ingredients in my bowl. You can taste the individual flavors of all of the ingredients, which isn't the case with all "salads". I rate this restaurant 5 out of 5 stars for its amazing service and food and would highly recommend to everyone. read more

This TCG location has steadily gone down hill over the past few years. Used to be dynamite, now, just so-so. Food is okay but they really need help in this location. Slow service, and the food should be fresher. Certain rice is often unavailable because it's been sitting too long, or the pork is dried out. We brought some of our friends to this location to try it for the first time because we love Tropical Grille...however, this location was FILTHY and clearly not very well managed! There were two full garbage cans right outside the bathrooms that caused a horrible smell, rice and beans all over the floor, etc. We tried to order steak and though they had some they were all frozen and therefore unavailable to order. All over the place was just dirty and cluttered. Thankfully our food was still good but we sure will never come back to this location. read more

Like the food, but when I walk in to an empty restaurant and still have to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me, it's a little ridiculous. I could understand if they were busy, but there are always 2-3 employees just standing around when I walk in. I've been there multiple times and the staff is always rude. I highly recommend this place. There was only another couple there when we came in to eat but the food was still fresh and really good. Service was quick. Got our food in a few minutes. It's a little pricey but the size of the plates exceeds the price in my opinion. I got the regular size Cuban Pork Bowl. Only ate half because I got full. Ate the rest a few hours later. Tried this place for the first time yesterday. Ordered the Caribbean special with chicken. It was enough for two full meals. Also tried several of the different sauces, all which were very good. We LOVE the chicken fresco Bowl and the yuca fries- both with the garlic cilantro sauce! Delicious EVERY single time and very filling!!

I went to this location tonight anticipating and hoping that it would be as good as the other location on Pelham road. Let me tell you the map says that it is 1.8 miles further to the Pelham road location, and I will not be returning to the location on Hwy 14. I agree with another review the gentleman serving the food seems to be mad because he has to serve you. More importantly the food was cold and the pork was dry as if it had been setting out all day, the portion size is different and so is the food quality. Seriously great food! I usually get either the Cuban Chop (chicken + black beans + yellow rice) or the Cuban Roasted Pork Chop (same, but with their UNBELIEVABLE pork instead of chicken). Even with longer lines at lunch time, they get you in and out with fresh food quickly. You get a lot of food for the price, so it's an easy way to eat clean on a budget. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their food - that's not the problem. The problem is the fact they don't cover the food! Despite this, since I initially never saw anything that gave me pause concerning this, I continued to eat there. However, during my last visit (and I do mean last) after I had placed my order, and it was in the process of being prepared my girlfriend noticed a fly around the food. I tried to justify it by telling myself if I didn't SEE the fly land on any of the uncovered food then no harm no fly, but alas, the fly did exactly what a fly does - it landed right atop the grilled chicken! In disgust, I told the server that was okay - we'd be leaving, and they could keep the fly food. Peace! read more

I have been going there about 2 to 3 times a month for the past couple of months. I work at the hospital down the street 2 to 3 times a month and on my way there, I will stop and grab some food. Unfortunately, it is usually around 8:45, right before they close. If I knew it would take a long time to fix the food, I wouldn't do that. However, knowing that it is close to closing time, I try to get one of the bowls that is Cuban pork, rice, and beans to make it nice and quick. Yesterday on 12/11/17, I showed up at 8:50 and the person there looked at me coming into the door, threw the towel on the floor and said, "Are you f****** kidding me" and walked to the back of the restaurant. I just turned around and walked out. I don't think you should get upset because a customer walks in before closing time. It wouldn't have even made him stay late and would've only taken him less than 5 minutes to serve me. That is inappropriate and should never be allowed. read more

This used to be one of my favorite takeout places close to home, has gone downhill. Visited tonight at 8:15, all of the food was already being put up. Ordered Cuban roasted pork chop with yellow rice, guy puts yellow rice in a takeout and then tells he he does not have pork, stands there looking at me without saying anything else. I tell him I guess I will take it with chicken. No apology, no other comment, no nothing but tells me the price. I asked him what time they closed, he tells me 9. 3 out of the last 5 times I have been in they are out of pork (it has been after 8 each time). People working there could care less about the customers. Two customers walked out when he told me he was out of pork, he never even acknowledged them. read more

Great food, but very poor service. I have been here more than once and the lady owner is very rude. Her and the other owner bicker back and forth while people are in line ordering and waiting to pay. They charge way to much for simple condiments like sour cream and salsa, but you need the condidments to add flavor. The tropical chicken with yellow rice comes with any signature sauces, but this does not include salsa, ect. I ordered curry, salsa, and sour cream. She charged my for everything but the curry, and then did nto put the curry in my bag. All the way back to work and no curry. When I called to complain on my way back to pick it up she was very unapologetic and even hung up on me. She then proceeded to argue about what sauces I had asked for. The owner of this place is extremely rude. I had bought a groupon/living social coupon to try this place as my husband and I enjoy cuban food. At the time, the Pelham Rd/Hwy 14 restaurant had not opened, so the only choice was the one down Pelham near E. North St. As we are not familiar with the area, we had to call and find the place, not visible by Pelham Rd. My first call to the restaurant, the owner picked up and asked that I call back because they were busy. The 2nd time I called, I asked to speak to the manager because of the way the first call was handled. I was speaking to the same person. I asked him for their location, a lot of noise was going on in the background and could hardly understand him. As I could not understand him or hear him, I asked for a more specific location (not knowing Bi-Lo had a lower lot - again, not familiar with location. He actually held the phone from his ear, and told an employee a b**ch was on the phone he couldn't hear. Needless to say, I understood what he said. I had my say and would never eat at this restaurant regardless of how good or terrible the food is. Rudeness gets you no where in life. It just makes you look pathetic at the time. read more
