I spent an hour in the area and then I called to ask how much more time is left (not to be impatient, but to see what things I could do while waiting) and I was told it would be another 45 minutes. I started doing something else, and 10 minutes later, I was told it was my turn... that was really unfortunate. When I got there, the staff was super nice and helpful! However, I noticed that I wasn't given all the info other customers were getting. They were told about things like the tools to make textures and what not, but I didn't hear about it until halfway through I was done glazing. I wish there better communication. A great spot though for a calming indoor activity.

The shop/space in Madison houses about 10 or so artisans who work tirelessly honing their skills. One One Thousand offers various classes to the public where these artisans teach others their craft. From quilting to wood carving there is a class that could interest just about anyone. These creative workshops are the center of what One One Thousand is all about. The concept of such self motivated craftsmanship is a rarity these days. In a world of big box stores ruling the world, or at least America, getting back to the roots of doing it yourself is a breathe of fresh air. The space is big and bright and there is so much to look at around every corner. All the goods are displayed and available for purchase in the space as well. The variety of merchandise One One Thousand has to offer is phenomenal and the quality of craftsmanship is second to none. Whenever we are in Madison it's a must to stop by and see what's going on there.

I only sell items that are nickel free. Do you honestly know of anyone who buys jewelry with nickel in it these days?" Well, yes I do. Nickel free is still the exception at larger stores and there's nowhere in her store that claims the jewelry is nickel free. I walked out quickly and will never be back.

Truly everywhere you look there is something wonderful and unique. Party supplies, home goods, gifts, cards, candies, beauty and self care items and lots more. Throughout the day of their grand opening celebration they had a craft event, hot chocolate bar, and wine tasting. We stopped by for the wine tasting and also entered a raffle. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They had some really cool balloon displays throughout the store and have plans for more in-store options and ways to help you have them at your own party. I'm surprised to be the first to review Wheelhouse! This is a wonderful perk of being a Union…read moremember and a student at UW Madison. In the basement floor of Memorial Union, there are 3 artist spaces that make up "wheelhouse studios" for people to use and make crafts. I've used the pottery studio and it is a great way to relax and make beautiful projects. You can buy and store clay, but then all the supplies and tools are FREE to use, including have projects fired in the kiln. Make sure you clean your spaces afterwards for the next artist, but go use Wheelhouse if you can!

Tried taking a photography class. Last week with bad weather (even clinics closed so shouldn't be…read moreon roads) wasn't able to get to class. Asked for the information so that I could catch up, 5 days later still waiting to hear anything. Found out today that I will be on jury duty for class two. Asked to be deferred to another class. Was told NO we are too far into the class. Really 1/3 of the class happened and really shouldn't have because of weather. So asked for the handout so I would get something for my money. Was told we don't have anything like that. Again, really nothing for me to make notes on during class. Nothing handed out. REALLY should be a refund. It doesn't sound like the class is very well organized.

Each month the "market" has a theme and is only open a few select days a month. Because of this, the store is very, very crowded, so be prepared to get cozy with the people around you. The nice thing is that with such a beautiful setting, everyone is in a good mood and friendly and you'll have a few random conversations about the goods you're looking at. The owners seem like super sweet people who are enjoying living their Parisian dream with their customers - on our visit they were co-manning the checkout counter to get everything wrapped and added up in quick fashion and were very friendly and gracious - they exude appreciation that you're there and make you feel like a regular that's stopped in a corner shop as opposed to a stranger in an airport. I came away with a lovely greeting card featuring a fox and floral design, plus a ceramic bird teapot for my mother for Christmas. After getting home I flipped the pot over to see who made it, and was a bit disappointed to see it was a mass-market made in China piece. The store's tagline is "Authentic. French. Vintage." and this was none of those things. The inexpensive price probably should have tipped me off ($17), but at the end of the day it was a great, affordable find that I think the recipient is going to love, so who cares? Looking forward to stopping back in again, and I'm excited to go during warmer weather so I can sit out for a bit and watch the planes come and go!

The shop owners visit paris once or twice a year and work with french and local vendors to fill the shop with delightful treasures.
