Seriously the owner of this store is extremely arrogant, she followed me around and kept asking me "are you going to buy something? are you going to buy something?". Most pieces lack any kind of feature stone that would have any real value, several cases were full of tacky looking garbage that the owner told me were made by "famous artists". I have always found the staff and owner to be down to earth, respectful and friendly. I ran a successful store for 30 years in Madison. I visited this store in Sept. 2014 with a sterling silver bracelet that has been in my family since the 1940s. I brought it in to be cleaned and resized. I received excellent customer service while in the store. I had three people helping me and discussing ideas on how to resize the item (it had some unique characteristics). I asked about cleaning and the woman brought the bracelet to the back of the store and dipped it in something (I don't know what it's called) and returned to show me a beautiful, almost unrecognizable bracelet. She assured me she would take care of it further before I picked it up and I would not be charged extra for the cleaning. They were able to give me an estimated price the day I dropped off the bracelet (under $100). They told me it would take about 4-6 weeks to complete, their usual time frame for any piece. When I picked my bracelet up I, again, received great customer service. The price actually turned out to be about $20 less than I was quoted, which I was very happy about. The bracelet fits perfectly and is shining like new. I would highly recommend this shop. I thought everyone working there was very nice and engaged in the work they are doing. The only downside I saw is that they do not replace watch batteries, but will give you recommendations for other stores that do. read more

I DO NOT recommend this Jeweler based on their very poor customer service. I brought in three rings: two to be polished and a silver ring to be downsized by a quarter. Whitney said casually when I was in the store "it shouldn't be too expensive." Well, charging me $150 to downsize a silver ring by .25 is more expensive than the cost of the ring. Charging me $150 to polish two very small rings is ridiculous when other places do just as good of a job for $40 or less. When my husband called asking for explanations on pricing, the manager of the store for 30 some odd years told him she would roll back the security tape to show us a little sign in the store stating their hourly rate is $78 and then hung up on him. If this is how they treat customers for small services like polishing ($150) and resizing ($150) rings I would not trust them with any of my other jewelry needs. Background: we are young professionals with experience with various jewelers in the U.S. where we have lived. We don't have unreasonable expectations and are nice people wanting to support small local businesses. This business is a bad representation of small local Wisconsin businesses. _____________ UPDATE: The Studio Jewelers Response to my review is mostly false. It inaccurately describes the conversations that took place and the interactions between myself, my husband, and them. They are accusing an unhappy customer of attempting to blackmail them, which should tell you a lot about them frankly. Very poor experience. The piece of jewelry I ordered was 4 weeks late... and when I went to pick it up it was NOT what I had ordered and was nearly twice the price. Here's another review in the vein of "lovely pieces, indifferent customer service." Several years ago, I received store credit at Studio Jewelers right before I and family were leaving town for a year+. Because the store credit would expire before we returned, I asked the owner whether we could have a cash refund. She refused, but she said that we could have an indefinite extension on the store credit. Now back in Madison, I recently took my engagement and wedding ring there to be resized, and I explained the deal with the store credit to the staff. Later, when the rings were ready, I came back to the store (found the resizing to be nicely done), and I gave the credit receipt as payment. I was then told that I could not use the store credit because it was over one year old. I again explained the agreement with the owner about the credit and waited for 15-20 minutes before a staff member reported that she couldn't find any paperwork, and that I would have to return the following week to talk to the owner. I told the staff that that I found two things frustrating about this: 1) that the owner had assured me that I didn't need a document stating that my store credit would be good indefinitely, because the information was in her files, and 2) that when I took the rings in to be resized, I'd also brought the store credit and explained the whole situation before proceeding, and none of the staff raised any red flags but simply took the rings. Then when I came back the following week, the store owner told me that I had "roughed up" her staff, that my store credit had been donated to charity and was no longer available to me, the ring resizing was a "gift," and that I'm no longer welcome in the store. Fortunately, everything is videotaped in jewelry stores, and those videos will show that I was not abusive to anyone. Studio Jewelers, SHOW THE VIDEOS. I am conflicted about Studio Jewelers. They have a gorgeous selection of jewelry and I love the wedding rings that we bought there. But I regret to say that we found their customer service to be almost non-existent and had a negative experience with them overall. After looking over their lovely selection, I fell in love with the rings designed by Studio Vincent in Minneapolis. We decided to go through Studio Jewelers to have rings custom made from there (I had my grandmother's engagement diamond placed in one of their settings and my husband had one designed to match). We made it clear that this was our first time ordering rings like this, but they offered very little professional advice or information about how it would work or what to expect. When we picked up the rings, they unceremoniously handed them across the counter and bid us on our way, without checking the fit or gauging our response to them. Mine was perfect; I absolutely love it. My husband's, however, arrived a quarter size smaller than he ordered it and almost a whole size smaller than it should have been. It also was not the style he was expecting. The blame for this does not rest entirely with Studio Jewelers; we should have been more vigilant. However, that we were surprised by the style and that it was sized wrong speak, I think, to issues with the way they run their business. Moreover, given that these were to be our wedding rings and that I was handing over to them a very (emotionally, though not monetarily) valuable diamond, I found their lack of communication about the process of sizing and ordering the rings bizarre. Ultimately, we had to have my husband's ring remade, for which we paid. They tried to make up for it by paying the cost of shipping and buying us (a very good) bottle of champagne--a nice effort to fix a situation that I think could have easily been avoided with better customer care. In the end, we're very happy with our rings, but bitter about the experience. If we were to do it all over again, we would have made the drive to Minneapolis to order the rings from Studio Vincent directly. read more

A friend and I drove from Milwaukee to get her ring re-sized and although I am not personally a customer, I would not return because the customer service we received left a bad taste in my mouth. My friend's fiancé had gotten her ring and this was her 2nd time returning to get re-sized. Her ring was falling off her finger and the lady at the counter was very short with us. It felt like we were bothering her when we were asking questions about what size would be best etc. But here's the thing, we're not experts on ring sizing- you are, that's why we were there. Fortunately, it wasn't all bad customer service and it was because of Victoria. She literally gave my friend the rings off her fingers to try on to make sure she was getting the right size. Thank goodness for Victoria who was helpful, kind, and answered all of our questions without making us feel like we were bothering her. My advice would be to ask for her. read more

After the emotional loss of my dearest friend, I took her diamond ring and a couple of my own gold earrings to Chris Keenan, now of Studio Jewelers, and after listening to my tearful tale, he used the materials and stones to create an amazing ring for my daughter. My daughter, her "Auntie", and I were very close and the melding the gold and diamonds into a beautiful and sentimental ring helped us get through a difficult time.
