Jackie at Jeweler's Workshop made the wedding ring I dreamed of. Beginning with using both the white and yellow gold from my original ring and ending with a design that incorporated my vision. When she said she would make leaves out of the white gold, I trusted her confidence even though I couldn't imagine how she would do it. They're so delicate and catch the light like gemstones....adding to the sparkle. Thanks to her artistry it went beyond my expectations. I wanted a ring that was a reminder of what my marriage means....from the hint of a heart shape for love to organic sense of growth....it was all there in a small piece of wearable art. AND the topper, Jeweler's Workshop found the alexandrite stone I wanted to add to the ring. A stone energetically about change and joy. They found several for me to choose from. I came to the jewelers workshop because I had a feeling they possessed the kind of creativity it required to make adjustments to my wedding band in order for my rings to look and feel like a set although they were purchased separately and not quite intended to be worn together. When my (now) fiancée and I started talking about the engagement ring we knew we wanted something unique, or at least non-traditional. She was specific in saying she didn't want it to be shiny or flashy, and that the diamond should be a black diamond. Obviously not something found in a display case at jewelry store where the standard is borderline Rococo. I met with Rab Bauman who clicked into what we were looking for immediately. Going in I was pretty nervous about being able to communicate what we were looking for, but after our first meeting it was clear I was in good hands. In the end we couldn't be happier with the outcome. If you're like us and are having trouble finding a ring that is outside tradition, I couldn't recommend the Jewelers Workshop enough, and especially Rab Bauman. Even if you are looking for something quite ornate, something that captures light and makes the ring practically luminous, I have every confidence that you'd be in capable hands here. This place ROCKS!!! (Pun intended) I stopped in to talk to them about designing an engagement ring and I couldn't have been more impressed. I was able to sit down with Rab and we went through some ideas I had floating around in my mind. He was the best....he walked me through his thoughts on my ideas and together we came up with a rough drawing and about two weeks later he called me to come in and look at some more detailed drawings he had in mind. I have to admit that at first the drawings he put together didn't jump out at me as the perfect ring and we had to go through a few more ideas before coming to the final design. The best part was that he had absolutely no problem with working with me again on tweaking these couple of things and bam....it was a perfect design. Now came the tough part...putting the drawing into the actual ring..... To say I was nervous when I received the call to come in and pick up the ring would be an understatement. I had all these thoughts going through my head of what if it isn't what I wanted, what if it looks completely different, what if someone took some "artistic liberty" and added or subtracted from what I wanted??? (Oh yea...and of course don't forget the biggest question going through my head, what if after all of this....she says NO???) All I can say is I couldn't be more impressed with their work!!! The ring was absolutely beautiful. It had all the design features I had wanted and it looks even better than it did on paper. It really sparkles and still has that "old soul" feel to it that I was going for.... I can't thank Rab and his coworkers enough!!! And in case anyone was wondering.....she said YES! read more

I regularly pop in for a (free) cleaning of those rings and the staff is always super friendly & remember me & the Mr. They've got lots of unique pieces and are able to tweak something to whatever you are envisioning. Jason Braden (one of their jewelers) re-worked my wife's engagement ring exactly to our specification. I showed them some pictures of what I wanted; a cathedral style ring with several extra little diamonds embedded in the sides with our 1 carat diamond in the center. They gave me & my wife exactly what we wanted and the price was reasonable. It took a few weeks (but I think that's standard for custom work). I actually went to several other shops in town before choosing Jewelers Workshop ... I read some positive reviews on Yelp! before choosing them as well. Like previous reviewers I also recommend this shop.... I'm extremely happy with their work. They were very polite, professional, and they did an awesome job. read more

Love this place. I'll never be able to thank Jackie enough for her work. I love simple jewelry and have a very hands on profession that does not allow for big stones on a ring. My (now husband) went to her with an idea and a price and she made dreams come true. She inset the stones to be flush with the metal so it doesn't catch on latex gloves and used purple sapphires (my fav). The best part has to be the detail on the dragonfly design. The wings, eyes and body are all precisely molded to make it look elegant while being uniquely mine. Bonus points for letting my five year old son in on the design and stone selection. read more

This place is fine for resizing and settings, but if you wish for more, the workmanship is unrefined and poorly executed. If you want them to create a setting or perform any metal-smithing beyond the basics, the work can be asymmetric, lumpy, and crude. I have had several pieces made here. Mounting stones in prefab settings was fine. Casting was ok. Where we ran into problems was custom work where I provided photos and drawings and when the resulting piece ended up looking nothing like the original blueprint. What really bothered me was when I was charged for each revision, and the custom piece ended up costing more than double the original estimate. read more

The Jewelers Workshop is a phenomenal local jewelry shop specializing in high-end repairs and custom design. I brought in a ring that had a couple of cracks in it and needed to be resized. Richard instilled trust in me immediately and is obviously an expert in what he does. The work they did was beautiful, and while it cost a bit more than other places in town might, it was all well worth it. Would highly recommend and will definitely be using this place in the future for other kinds of jewelry needs. Way better than a conventional jewelry store! read more

We recently got married and after looking around town ended up getting a custom wedding band from the Jewelers Workshop and having them resize the vintage ring that my now wife had to have. The staff was super friendly and patient with us and really took the time to offer suggestions while listening to our admittedly finicky requests. The turn-around time on the custom band was very reasonable and the results were exactly as we had requested. When we picked up my wife's resized (platinum) ring and it was still slightly loose they insisted that we give them the opportunity to re-resize it again at no cost. Beyond following through with the work for no charge they had it done before we could believe it and additionally they found an issue with the setting and also repaired it for free. I can't say enough complimentary things about the staff and the product. Look no further than these folks! read more

We have found our local jeweler. We were worried about who would service my wedding ring that was made in Montgomery, AL. My husband called this place, and we went by a few days later. The woman that helped us was very warm and thorough. She brought one of the jewelers down from their upstairs chamber who was also super nice and told me what she would do with my ring. The problem was that the ring was spinning too much, and we wanted my engagement and wedding ring joined together as one. So I left my ring and a little over a week later I got a very friendly call that it was ready. I picked it up and was SO happy, it was the best 60 dollars I ever spent. Also it should be noted that the shop assistant, Casey, is a wonderful person and goes far above and beyond the call of duty in the name of customer service. He helped us find something in the community that had nothing to do with jewelry, and also remembered my baby's name and asked how he was doing upon my return. Also there is beaaauuuuuuutiful jewelry in the case that we can probably not afford. read more

I live in New York but went out of my way to go to Jewelers Workshop in my hometown of Madison to make an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I had a very specific design in mind based off a vintage ring I'd found and the staff was extremely helpful in translating my ideas into a beautiful design. The communication and attentiveness throughout was outstanding, with Jason sharing CAD renderings of the ring over email and calling when he had questions about adjustments. Let me start out by saying I'm not a guy who typically wears jewelry of any kind. I recently got married and hadn't planned on wearing a band. My wife came to Jewelers Workshop and worked with a young lady named Jackie who designed the most amazing titanium ring. Half of it had landscape of arches national park where we got married and the other half was the landscape in rocky mountain national park where we got engaged.. all blended seamlessly and with impeccible detail... Detail I never imagined could be engraved into a little ring. I'm now a believer and haven't taken the ring off. I have a picture of the ring next to the arch she engraved and it looks identical - if i could upload a picture, I would. Made me realize that they can basically do anything. When it was time to have my late Mom's wedding ring reset, I knew where to go : Jeweler's Workshop in Madison. In the early 1990s, they did a gorgeous wedding band for my husband and although there are many fine custom jewelers in Chicago, I happily made the trek. Today I picked up spectacular custom diamond hoop earrings and a lovely custom ammolite ring. From the initial meeting, through the several redesigns, I enjoyed exceptional professional attention from individuals who took pride in their knowledge, their artistry and their attention to customer service. I was listened to and more importantly was educated on the possibilities for a very sentimental piece of jewelry. There was no pressure and no rush. Instead, appropriate time was taken to make sure that I was pleased with the piece and process. I am thrilled with the final results and signed up with Yelp this evening, just so I could convey my thanks to the Jewelers Workshop staff and make my recommendation known to those of you who read this review.
