We usually sit in the table as you walk in at the end by the desserts cooler. I get there standing waiting when I finally get asked and I question about a item and it wasn't to my want, I chose something else then she takes my card charges me and walks away and I didn't even get my coffee while the other attendants were all talking with people about the cops that were at the corner. unfortunately I threw my bag back grabbed the merchant copy and calling my bank to cancel the transaction and will make sure I buy a coffee machine and just make myself mine since everyone here gets lost in space with or without a phone in there hands! read more

Tropic grill use to be my every morning hangout spot for a quick Cuban coffee or some breakfast. The girls are really nice and always want to make your day better. The breakfast is super affordable and food very well prepared. I love the Cuban tostada they always have the best bread and they make good Cuban coffee for the cafe con leche, the place just renovated the ventanita where they sell the coffee and pastries to go, they also have a bunch of huge TVs now inside playing news and sports. Ordered thru the outside cafeteria window area. The staff was quick, friendly, and seemed to have a lot of regulars there. I got a menu to go as well because many people call their order ahead as to just quickly pick it up...which is better than standing and waiting outside in the heat in AUGUST! This is a quick spot where you can kill two birds with one stone - fill up your gas tank and grab some quick Cuban food. Located in the Exxel Gas station, it's been here for at least a decade. There's a full sit-down restaurant section, as well as a corner window where you can get food to go (or eat standing up). Lots of locals like to hang out here and mornings tend to be very busy. I often find myself fighting my way through the people to get my order in with one of the girls at the window during peak times. Service is decent- many of the waitresses are long time regulars, so they know the majority of the customers that frequent there. This causes some lags and delays for non-regulars since they like to talk it up with their regulars. Regardless, service is usually pretty fast, and while they are not overly friendly, they aren't rude either. Food is typical cuban- for breakfast, there's pastries, empanadas, cafe con leche, tostada (cuban toast) and full breakfast platters (ask to see the menu if you're ordering at the window). For lunch/dinner you'll have steak, pork, rice, beans, sandwiches, etc and specials of the day. Prices are the best part- it's pretty cheap, especially compared to other restaurants in the Doral area. It's no frills and in a gas station after all, so at best, would be considered VERY CASUAL dining. All in all, not a bad spot if you want to fill up without spending too much. Unfortunately for them Cuban Sammie's, media noches and pan con lechon are Cuban staples and have to be top notch and this is where they lack. However, why did they score four stars with me? At lunch these were clearly businessmen (two women customers, total out of about 60). But we were made to feel welcome, even though the server spoke very little English. And the food was more than passable, especially the picadillo. With large portions and relatively low prices, Tropic Grill is exactly what I would want if I were in the area at lunch time. I just ordered a Chicken Feta salad that was amazing, being a Cuban restaurant I took a chance in ordering something that is not typically their specialty, and I am happy I did. They serve a huge quantity of fresh spring salad with plenty of Chicken that looks like they cooked with the Chicken that had a tremendous flavor plus they sprinkled plenty of Feta cheese. I have been ordering lunch from Tropic Grill for many years, and I am always pleased with their food. this afternoon, 11/20/2020 I ordered a sandwich for pickup from Tropic Grill on 9700 NW 25th Street, Doral, a place that I often order from. When I got there the sandwich was not ready (I had just ordered it), so I waited at the window. The door to the kitchen has a window, so I was looking into the kitchen, when I saw, the cook that makes sandwiches, and heaven knows what else, standing idly with his mask under his chin, and his fingers INSIDE his mouth. I was floored!!!!!! Told the girl that was waiting on me (by the way she had her mask under her nose, and a tray of croquetas in front of her). She opened the kitchen door, and told the gentleman that people were looking at him. He then left the kitchen, do not know where he went, and the waitress proceeded to hand me the food. I told her I did not want it, and they got upset. Not only is this not acceptable in the age of Covid, but it's not acceptable AT ALL!!! I am flabbergasted!!!!! This local breakfast place is one of few places in Doral that has atmosphere to it. Situated in the Xpress gas station on 97th Ave and NW 25th st, the place has a loyal client base of dockmen and office admins. Upholding the traditional Cuban breakfast window, the place has no chairs, only a wrap around counter. Behind that counter, with salsa and merengue blasting, three ladies move from person to person carrying large water pitches filled with steaming caf con leche. A good choice to order is the most basic Cuban tostada (fresh Cuban bread slathered with an unholy amount of butter, and then flattened in a sandwich press). ok, first of all you seem to be a person that desperately needs attention along with the fact that of your lousy ignorance. As if you didn't notice, this place is called "Tropical Cafe" which by default makes it a Latin place. Now, I'm not saying you have to be Lation to go eat there, but what i am saying is that if you expect every one to speak English than go somewhere else where your guaranteed to get English as your preferred language. I don't know how is that even relevant to the reviews of the place! you obviously speak spanish by your name "Joanna" and if you didn't you wouldn't go there since the "Non speaking english" girls that work there wouldn't be able to communicate with you. Second of all, i don't know if you've ever noticed but they have a lot of people coming by that window probably before you even wake up to brush your teeth. i would like to see you work there for one day and see if you can put up with it. Maybe you need top take a look at yourself before you go judging other people. Be patient instead of trying to get things your way all the time and maybe you would see things differently and not be bothered by things that influence life in the most negative way.
