We took our boss today for his birthday and we sat outside. It was awesome!! The sandwiches are incredible. Can't wait to go back.

Troll House Cottage is a Donelson favorite and a truly unique place within Nashville. Tucked away in a charming cottage this cafe functions as a store and restaurant. The food and coffee is reasonably priced compared to other spots in Nashville and the store is beautifully curated; you truly feel like you've stepped into a coffee shop in some faraway fairy tale land. I only wish they had more parking because it can get full during tea time. I always bring people who are visiting here and they always love it.

I booked an afternoon tea reservation at Troll House Cottage to catch up with a friend before she moves. It was both of our first times, and we both were so impressed by the charm of the place. Booming a reservation isn't as tech technologically advanced as some spots, but it wasn't a difficult process. You select a date and time online, include any allergies in the notes, add the name of the guest, and then you'll receive a phone call to confirm availability and take a 50% deposit over the phone. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but luckily I had no issues finding a spot and there was some parking on the front lawn people with trucks or larger vehicles took advantage of (but I don't know if it's officially extra parking). When you enter the building you'll quickly get distracted by all the great items for sale at the shop (it's like a little local gifts and things shop). Once I looked around I went to check in and was told where my table would be and to take the opportunity to check out the wall of teas to pick my choices - the tea comes with 2 varieties per person. The wall of tea was impressive, with so many options. My decided my two teas, and my friend arrived shortly after and unprompted picked the same ones! We were with the elderberry cherry cobbler and the Tennessee honeysuckle. We went to sit at our table and someone came by to ask which teas we decided on. Shortly after they arrived with our tea and hot water. We caught up as the tea steeped in our cups and then the tower of treats arrived. My understanding is the offerings change frequently, but at the time it was completely free of peanuts and almonds (they did have pecans on one item). All the food items were great! I think they were all well executed and a great balance of bottom layer savory, middle layer sweet, and top layer that cross over (shortbread can lean both ways for me). As our tea got low, our second choice was brought out. The timing was perfectly paced. If you ask for honey (I love honey) it comes in an adorable little swan container (I didn't get a picture sadly). Both teas were great, but I think I preferred the honeysuckle, the cobbler had a more pronounced star anise flavor - which taste similar to black licorice to me and isn't my favorite. Service was superb. The price point was inline with what I expected for a meal, drinks, and an experience (and cheaper than most afternoon tea in London - and MUCH cheaper than high tea). Even if you just wanted to check out the gift shop and grab a tea to go or sit down for lunch, they had the option to do all the things. It's worth checking out if you are in the area. Also, if you appreciate the human form in creative ways the wallpaper in the bathroom is so great - just imagine, legs, butts, and a mushroom top - man I love when artist are creative!

Such a cute little spot. Love that they have different vendors to shop from. The decor is so unique and the food was delicious. I really loved being able to pick my tea from the numerous options as well. Definitely coming back.

Great little brunch restaurant. Teas, Coffee, baked goods and shops with neat items. Teas are really good and reasonably priced with a wall of tea leaves for brewing.

Absolutely love this cottage! It's such a cute place to sit and catch up with a friend for hours. Their tea and food is DELICIOUS. I can't wait to go back sometime!

Black Tea (side of almond milk), plus Cauldron Pie special

Aww I absolutely loved this place! For food, I tried the Cauldron Pie special (kind of a chicken pot pie, but it's biscuits) and it came with those skinny potato straw chip things. I love anything on a biscuit, and this was pretty great! To drink, I got a black tea - wish the water was hotter, but the tea was lovely. You're able to take a whiff of the one you want before picking one, and they bag the loose leaf tea in front of you so you can let it steep the right amount of time. I found a seat at a cute little table next to the window. There are multiple open rooms and there's a whole bunch of local items and other handmade things. All random, all cute.

The cutest little cottage with a good selection for food. Don't expect a huge menu, it has a few items but all delicious, that's for sure. We stumbled upon it by accident and decided to have a quick little breakfast there and so glad we did. We found it very reasonably priced and would return if back in town. Oh and the bathroom, loved it!!

The cutest little house/cafe. It wasn't my ultimate favorite tea service, hut the food was good and the staff was the sweetest! I like their selection of teas, I hope they move into brewing the loose leaf tea in a kettle rather than tea bags but it was still yummy! I would definitely go there for lunch again soon!

We are very picky about Tea having lived in Europe for a few decades. This place has a very nice selection of teas and pastries and savory foods. We ate the razzle berry muffin and Brekkie - cheese ( your choice) with egg and turkey sausage on fresh biscuits. We were hungry and didn't stop to take a photo of the food.

I really hate leaving bad or indifferent reviews, but overall this high tea service was absolutely not worth the money and time. I'm also leaving this review to hopefully see change from Troll Cottage so it can be the experience you want it to be for your customers, not to bash you. If it changes for the better and is worth a return, I'll edit my review. (Please do not leave the same copy / pasted comment on this about your infancy.) Pros: - adorable shop with a lot of local vendors and items of all kinds to buy - good tea - we got served first because we sat right next to the service counter - delicious lemon pound cake - loved the porch swing - people working seemed nice Cons: - Expensive when the same service at a close by location is half the cost and better, attentive service and staff - Going off this, not enough staff. They were not only hosting tea service but also open to the public, which slowed everything down and felt disorganized and interrupted. If they'd close to the public during high tea or have another staff member to help, this could be alleviated a bit. I know staffing is great everywhere right now, but this felt very off. - No one is specifically serving you or tells you what the process is, when the food is coming, how to get your second tea/coffee, so it's a big guessing game. Thankfully we sat right next to the kitchen (well, I mean, wasn't the best but for this reason it was) so we could ask for things in between outside customers. - We had a party of four but were split up into two small tables. Same room but that's where all the outside customers came into so it was constantly busy. Couldn't really talk to each other without being loud. - I wasn't too impressed with the food selection. All bread. I was so excited for the fresh baked croissant but it was undercooked and doughy (I did eat it though, by the time we got the food I was starving) - We were told we could get coffee instead of tea for our second drink so I asked for an iced coffee and they were all out of both kinds of iced coffee they had, which doesn't make much sense to me being a coffee shop that also had another sitting after us. It wasn't that I was told to wait and they'd make it, it was just that they're out. We had all warm drinks and were falling asleep, something cold would've been nice. I skipped the second drink because of this. My friend managed to get one before it ran out, I guess, so that's good. I'm being picky here, but for a $55 service, this needs to improve.

This hidden gem is newer to Donelson, and has been on my list to check out. It's a super cute cottage converted into a gift shop with a small cafe. I saw they've been offering high tea the past couple of Sundays and called to book the latest one. The high tea was lovely... they had a selection of @highgardentea to choose from, and a tower of snackies which included a havarti grilled cheese with fig jam, sausage balls, biscuits with jam, black forest cakes, and chocolate truffles. This is a place I will definitely frequent to sit down with a good book and have a tea/pastry!! Highly recommend checking it out!

Went for high tea and enjoyed the setting. The food was fantastic! Adorable shop, would he a great place to buy a local gift. Had to wait about 45 min for our food despite having a reservation.

Lovely setting and great service. Many choices for tea. Food for tea service was more for breakfast than lunch.

This is a small Cafe and store with only a few tables. I had a pot of tea with breakfast. It was good and the service was nice.
