The atmosphere is top tier, bustling with high-end with service to match. Our servers were on top of things and it was rather busy. The food was good, but it ought to be IYKWIM. There's more adventuresome (and reasonably priced) dining to be had elsewhere, but I'll put my thumb on the scale due to the high-end service and environment. read more

This is a great place for apres- ski and or breakfast with beautiful views of Deervalley. A comfortable wood lodge feeling that is super cozy. I very much enjoy the cabin feeling that remained me of Austria. The service is impeccable. Had a delightful breakfast with a salmon omelette and a bagel. This is a highlight for me at Stein Eriksen. I'm a HUGE fan of the Swedish meatballs and they always make a great cocktail. There are stunning views of the slopes outside in the winter and the service is always top-notch. The wife and I go to Troll Hallen with some friends whenever a local band called Mr. Sister plays there. I realized that I had never reviewed. Located in the Stein Erikson Lodge in upper Deer Valley we enjoy the experience of sitting in the bar, having dinner and drinks and listening to the band. The bar area is fairly with family dining being located below and to the right. In Utah children can't dine in bars, hence the separation. During winter the family area is packed while the bar is usually open and easy to get into. I find the service to be quite good, with the staff being a combination of locals and J1 (foreign workers on a J1 visa) folk. The menu is made up of starters, mains and desserts. Notable items are the Stein's Burger which weighs in a 1/2 pound with what seems to be another 1/2 pound of very tasty french fries. It is cooked to order so if you rare or medium rare you can get it. The wife loves the chicken caesar salad while our two friends typically go for salmon or snapper or the wagyu bavette and fries. I would comment on the desserts but we are always stuffed from main so never make it that far. It's a hotel restaurant - so would I drive up the hill to eat there if I wasn't going to hear some live music? Probably not, but if you find yourself in upper Deer Valley you can get a good meal at a decent (for a hotel) price here. read more

C'mon, this gorgeous, lively, casual and wonderful apres' ski meeting place with ever-friendly service and comforting food, (like the beautiful raclette platter!) is a must-do when in Silver Creek... but whoever selected these performers... well, "Stickk!" We reserved one of the Alpen Globes which is not cheap at $200 for only 90 minutes. Our service was so poor though. We waited a long time to get waited on, one of us never got her cocktail order taken, and they never asked if we wanted dessert. Our waiter didn't really check in on us until the end, so by then it was too late. We got the grilled cheese and it was good and the globe itself was cool with nice views, but an overall disappointing experience. read more

We had such a wonderful dining experience here. The food was incredible - highly recommend the Swedish meatballs, pot roast, and pasta. Wonderful views and fall colors from the patio which also has heaters. They do not take reservations, but there were plenty of tables to choose from on a weeknight. The service and hospitality, from our waitress, to valet, to the host was spectacular. We did not stay here during our trip but valet was very easy in order to eat at the restaurant. read more

If heaven were a dish, it would be the pot pie at Troll Hallen. The flakey, golden crust is nothing short of a masterpiece. Each spoonful was pure comfort food bliss--this is pot pie done right. My Bloody Mary was also excellent...it had crispy bacon! read more

Very nice restaurant in the hotel. We ate here twice, for lunch and dinner. Their signature burger and truffle fries are great! Good sized positions of both. The fry sauce is delicious! For dinner I tried the vegetable Mac and cheese which was a huge portion size but packed full of delicious veggies. The cheesey base and noodles were perfect. My husband and I shared two desserts, the creme brûlée and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were excellent but my fave was the sticky toffee pudding. Our family of five people came here for dinner. We are staying at the Stein Eriksen Lodge, so we decided to try all the restaurants at the Lodge today. It's right next to glitretind so maybe people are reviewing that instead. Anyways, I was thoroughly impressed with my meal today for lunch at Troll Hallen. We sat on the patio and the weather was gorgeous, the views were awesome, and the staff was very friendly. Overall great ambience. As for the food I was also impressed. I had the bbq chicken sandwich. The coleslaw was great and so was the shrimp chowder I had as my side. My boss had the stein burger and said it was AMAZING. From the looks of it I would agree with him. We also had this sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was great. I'll definitely be back to Troll Hallen for lunch! read more

Came here after a long day of skiing. We got a couple of cocktails that were excellent. Then got the fondue and it was honestly the worst I've ever had. It was so thin and did not stick to any of the dippers. We literally could drink it through a straw. The taste was inconsistent and overall a below average time. read more

I ventured here for a solo dinner when the restaurant in my hotel was closed and I didn't feel like heading down into Park City for food. The lounge is next to a fine dining restaurant that looked lovely, and I was able to sit on a large, comfortable patio with nice views of the surrounding mountains and ski hills. The service here was outstanding, and I was well attended to during my short dinner. The menu is pretty small, with as many desserts as main courses. They have an on-staff pastry chef so I think that desserts and drinks are their main attraction. I got a chicken Caesar salad and it was great, with little cheese toasts on the side. I didn't go back because of the limited menu choices, but I loved my meal, and it was a nice relaxing place to end the day. As a bonus, if you are staying at the Chateaux down the road you can charge to your room, as they are under the same owner. read more

For a restaurant under the name and expectation of "Stein Erickson" the service is less than one star. We are locals and treated ourselves to a bougie day at Deer Valley and wanted to end the day with a glass of wine and fondue. We went to the Troll Hallen around 230/245 to get the apres special. We talked to a host inside who told us to talk to the hostess on the porch if we want to sit outside. Fine. We talk to a young hostess and tell her we would like a seat outside and we'd like to have a drink before the apres deal starts. She puts our name on the list then informs us that she is going to go look for an open table. She never came back. Then another hostess comes over (I believe her name was Vensa? or something spelled similar) and checks in 3 other groups and seats them before us. So after 20 minutes of waiting I go to talk to her and I swear this woman is a robot. No emotion, no eye contact, no willingness to discuss what we were looking forward to. We tell her we would like to get a seat and have a drink before the apres deal. She goes into her robotic response that she told the three parties before us. "You can sit here but apres doesn't start until 3." That's fine but can we get a drink while we wait? Oh, and she tells us now, at 255, that apres won't start for another half an hour????? I understand there is a transition period but you have to be willing to still serve people if you are seating. If you can't handle that close for an hour in between. Well, we finally get seated. Wait twenty minutes. Watch two servers walk past us multiple times each, both turning their backs on us as if they don't want to make eye contact and have to serve us. So finally at 330 we left. We went to the High West Saloon just off of Main Street. And guess what..! They have fondue!! And better/friendly service for a fraction of the cost! read more

The Shrimp with Pork Belly Grits boasted large beautiful prawns over the best cheesy grits I have ever had. The pork belly flavour wasn't overly pronounced but still the dish was fantastic. The misses wanted to order the Swedish Meatballs and I have never had Swedish meatballs like this. My girlfriend and I had a bite to eat in this lounge based on a recommendation from one of the owner's at the Residences. He highly recommended the Stein-burger, seconded by the bartender at the Chateaux. Apparently, the Stein-burger is the signature item on the menu as it I offered on both dinner and apres-ski menus. We both ordered the burger and after the food arrived it in no way reflected the above recommendations nor resembled the photo portrayed on the menu brochure. The dish that arrived was basically a compressed, pre-made, thin, frozen hamburger patty. We were under the impression that given the $21 price tag the burger was a 100% USDA hand trimmed, fresh ground, premium steak cut. My partner and I decided not to comment or complain and simply chalked it up to a bad dining experience. read more
