I am a returning customer and had always had Laurel do my hair I would show her a picture and she would nail it , when I went to have my hair touched up they said Laurel her a family emergency and had Danielle do my hair ! This time she did so good she told me that she just stater she was nervous , I'm a nice person and how is she suppose to get experience if she doesn't practice. Fast forward till Thursday I had already put a light brown color to cover up my hair since my days off haven't left me time to have my hair done since I am going to Hawaii at the end of April I made an appointment in Wich they put me with Danielle and I wasn't concerned since she had worked on my hair prior , I showed Danielle the color and she told me that she would try to get as close to my picture as she can okay fine I expected that but I told her I was fine with that since I wanna come back for a retouch before I go on my vacation , as she is drying my hair I get worried since my hair looks really dark at the roots and orange looking at the ends , she said let me dry it and then see how it looks dry , okay sure but as it was dried I told her I'm so sorry but I really don't like the color it looks like my hair hasn't been one and I don't like the orange looking color she said let me go talk to the girls and come back and try again since I had until Monday off I told her yes sure that's fine after I pay I reminded her about coming back tomorrow and she said well I can't get you in until Wednesday I told her no I'm sorry that won't work since I go back to work on Tuesday , at that point I wanted to cry so she tells me I can come in Saturday and do it since we are closed Friday I agreed with her when she tells me it's my sons birthday , 1 why would you say that if you didn't plan for me to say yes since I knew it had to do with her kids , im a mother I would never be so selfish to take that away from her . So she then calls the manger over and i explain to her that I have to return back on Tuesday so she set me up with another stylist , they tell me that another stylist can get me in at 10 or 11 and I agree since I really don't have a choice and didn't want to go bakc to work with orange hair , so this morning I call to confirm my appointment when the person tells me I don't see appointment for you so I tell her I'm really upset and irritated that I told them I return to work Tuesday I apologize and tell her I'm sorry for her having to hear my vent but I'm super upset that I don't show on the schedule to have my hair fixed , she tells me she will reach out to her manager and call me back , by like 11 I hadn't heard back from them so I call bakf and Maddie answers the phone and I explain my story again and she tells me yes I'm sorry Taylor just told me about this and I will reach out to my manager and have her call you back asap again I apologize and for my frustration and told her I was upset since my appointment dissapeared apparently, Katie calls me and tells me dabielle can come in and do you're hair at 4:30 and by this point I'm so upset that this whole situation went this way I told her I didn't want Danielle doing my hair and I would just want a refund back so I can try and find someone to fix it by the time I go back to work . The manager calls me back so I ask her if she kind of heard the run down she then tells me I haven't been very nice and I made the manager cry in which was a complete lie because every single person I stayed calmed and explained how upset I was with the whole situation she then tells me that her stylist don't have any reason to make up things , so I tell her I would never be ugly to anyone since I know how it feels because I am in retail myself . She tells me that the offer to. Have Danielle do my hair again was on the table , after basically being called a liar why would I want to go back I am so upset that I spent my hard earned money on orange hair , the way that I was portrayed to be and treated this was is really upsetting and or course I will never recommend or be back to this salon again I included the picture of what I wanted and what was done but she still proceeded to tell me my hair didn't look bad and looked red , I haven't washed my hair since due to me wanted them to see why I didn't like my hair smh read more

I was so excited to try this place, but instantly got a bad feeling when I waited 40 minutes past my appointment time. Then my stylist missed a chunk when coloring my hair and it's VERY noticeable right in the front. I'm going back next week to get it fixed. Not pleased with the color or cut. I saw all the great reviews and had to try it out myself about 2 years ago. I've had 3 different stylists at this salon but they have all been wonderful. Haley is my current stylist and she is awesome! I always feel so welcome, they listen to what I want, & have recommendations about what products would work the best for me (I haven't came across one I didn't like yet). I used to only use Bumble & Bumble products after going to Bella Salon but I love Aveda products just as much now. Did I mention that their online appointment booking is so convenient?! I am on the phone pretty much all day at work & being able to see when my preferred stylist is available saves me so much time. I wish other businesses had this option! The owner, Tricia, is beyond generous and a savvy business professional. She considers her employees family and is so supportive of them and their professional development and this shows in the atmosphere and the quality of work the do. Went here to get my hair cut during my temporary stay in Iowa. Katie cut my hair, and she showed me how to color my eyebrows. She did a good job on both, but not sure I'll be able to do the eyebrow like she showed me. Prices were very reasonable, way less than what I am used to. I paid $46 plus tip for the cut and eyebrow shaping/waxing/coloring. I'm used to paying this for just a CUT! Not to mention, she was fast! I got my hair washed, cut, styled, and the eyebrows done in 45 minutes! No place to park the RV. I came here in a rental car. read more

Great salon! I went in for a cut and color with Haley. She put her own spin on what I asked for, and after a week I still love it! Really cute little space. Everyone was super friendly, and you get two complimentary services (think: polish change, shoulder massage) with your appointment. Plus wine (!!!). Came in for an updo for the Marine Ball. Didn't really have an idea of what to do but my stylist did some amazing work. I found Trixie's by pure random luck since I was in Des Moines for the weekend and they had one appointment left on a saturday. I travel for work and getting my hair cut is always a gamble. Luckily I found Lisa and I couldn't be happier :) She was entertaining, friendly and low key. On top of that it only cost me 29 bucks and she did a better job than the last girl I went to in Salt Lake City who charged me 65. After cutting it dry, she washed it, straightened, and then curled it. She made me feel pretty again and I couldn't help but tip her twenty bucks. Thanks Lisa! read more

Not only did I enjoy the entire process but I left with an amazing haircut done by Hannah. I highly recommend this salon! I changed my hair dresser because I couldn't get an appointment every 4 weeks to get my hair done. After trying Trixies I was very happy with the service! Kerri did a great job! 3 days before my next appointment with Megan since Kerri was booked I receive a phone call that the hair dresser will be on vacation and they were trying to move my appointment for a later date. I wanted a total transformation on my hair after being really disappointed with how my hair was done at a previous salon. I researched salons in the Des Moines area and came across some stellar reviews about Trixies salon and decided to book an appointment. I was scheduled with Haley, who did a consultation prior to the day I was scheduled. She was very bubbly and friendly. I was very nervous to go short since it had been years since I ever made a big change, but she heard me out on the type of style I wanted and was very confident she could match my natural hair color with what I had left. She got right to business and chopped my hair short and I was shocked but once she got done coloring and shaping my hair and styling it, I was thrilled with the results. The price was not at all bad compared with other top salons, and there is also complementary services like hand and neck massages, and even a free makeup touch up. Trixies intention is to not only make you look beautiful after you leave, but also make you feel beautiful. I have never spent much money pampering myself and I got more than I paid for coming here. I was in town to visit our new granddaughter, but really needed a haircut. I decided to check out Yelp and choose a salon. Trixie's had some great reviews so I decided to take a chance and it was the best decision I made. I booked an appointment with Haley using their website and it was fast and easy. She started out with a head and neck massage. Wow. What a way to start the day. She then dry cut my hair, then washed my hair massaging my scalp. It felt so good. She then cut my hair exactly as I asked. I am so pleased how it turned out. If I lived here, this would be my permanent hair salon. Thanks for a great experience. read more

This is the only time I've ever received a haircut and gone and cried in my car immediately after. I showed the stylist a few photos of blonde bobs that were cut slightly above the shoulder, and she said that they were cute photos before taking me to get my hair washed. During the wash, my scalp was scalded by the hot water (never was I asked if the water was alright). During the cut, the stylist chopped my hair up to my jawline and cut it slightly shorter on one side, so it was lopsided! During my blow dry, my scalp was again burned by how hot the blowdryer was, and since hair shrinks in the drying process, my hair was left even shorter than jaw length. I left looking like a coconut head. After so many other glowing reviews, I'm disappointed by the lack of service and seriously underwhelming cut. read more

Went to Trixie's, which is an aveda concepts salon, thinking I would get a good haircut. Left with a horrible botch job. She first dries then styled my hair before cutting it. When I got home and washed it is when I noticed how bad it was. Even other people noticed. I then went back to have her fix it and she took a whole 10 minutes to try and fix it. When I showed her a picture of my haircut and explained to her what she had done you can't do to my hair because it is thin, she then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have the haircut I showed her. Funny thing is I have been going to a stylist named David at beauty brands for months and he has been doing that style just fine if not perfectly. I went to trixies because it was closer and cheaper than David. But I left with what was more of a great clips cut. Other people have noticed how bad the cut is. It's uneven and chopped in the front and I have what looks like a shelf on one side. Now just waiting for it to grow enough to go back to David to have him fix it.i will never go to trixies or even recommend anyone to go there even if it is to someone other than Lisa. I don't trust a place that keeps someone that bad. read more
