The optometry and the ophthalmology depts. here are atrocious. Optometry makes you wait 3-4 MONTHS…read morefor your glasses--after they are ordered. If they tell you 10 days they are lying and they will later admit the same. Now I need bilateral eye surgery. First they make me wait a year--yes, a whole year to get it scheduled. Then they set it for bilateral but do all the work up for just one eye. Then they have to re-do everything to fix their errors. They will call and have you come back for tests they "forgot" to do. But they'll give you call back numbers you can't use--only doctors get to call directly. Patients must use the 800#. If you call the 800# the hold time is an hour. Then they transfer you to ophthalmology and you hold another 45 minutes. This has been my experience three different occasions--so not odd, but Kaiser's normal. When you get through--50% of the time they hang up on you. They don't know the names of the department's technicians so when you ask for say (in my case Crystal) they'll just hang up on you--after you waited for 1.45 hours!!! They won't even give you time to say, "Could you just look up who called and why then?" Nope! They are so RUDE. Eventually you give up and drive in to find out what surgery called about. I found out it was to re-measure my eyes. This is the 4th time to measure them. I wonder if they'll end up operating on my nose vs my eyes. I am truly SCARED. These guys are a bunch of Bozos!

Becky was ill and made an appointment to see a Dr. at the Kaiser location in El Cajon. I drove her…read morethere and waited with her inthe lobby. I have Sharp Healthcare, she has Kaiser. I can only compare to that. The check-in kiosk at Kaiser was not very user-friendly. Becky had to answer a lot of questions and negotiate through multiple screens. The waiting area was rather drab and stark. Once we got past that, the care Becky received was good. The initial nurse who took vitals and such was kind and professional. The nurse practitioner who examined her was also professional and thorough. He answered of our questions and offered diagnosis and treatment options. One thing about Kaiser that is less than ideal is they will not transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies. Patients can only use Kaiser pharmacies which is (at least for us) terribly inconvenient. Especially given that we have at least a half-dozen pharmacies in close proximity to our house while the nearest Kaiser is a 20-minute drive.

They need to be back from lunch on time and stop chit chatting. That simple. Finally got called back at 2:16pm!! And no apology for making me wait almost an hour after my appointment time. When I asked him to walk to me so I could massage his leg, he couldn't even walk. I was begging the doctor for blood tests or an ultrasound, but she said it was NOT NECESSARY! And her answer just killed me. She said my son was MANIPULATING me. She is a doctor who doesn't know that small kids don't know what manipulation is and can't do it. My son was always welcome to our bed if he woke up at night; we never said no to him. So she didn't give us any prescriptions! After some time, it happened again at night, and his pain was so strong that he was screaming so badly that we took him to the emergency room at night! All because our doctor didn't do anything besides saying that he was a manipulator. We do not recommend this doctor.

I've been here prior to the start of COVID and during and the office has always been super clean. Upon entering on the third floor of the building, a MA will take your temp. And screen you for COVID symptoms. It's worth mentioning that I've always had an appointment and highly recommend making an appointment if possible. It's very easy to do online. They accept walk-ins but it will be a super long wait and they don't guarantee that you will be seen. My first appointment was for birth control and I had some concerns. The staff was incredibly friendly and great at what they do. I had to have some blood work done and the medical assistant was so professional and my blood draw was painless. I was so surprised at the amount of time the Nurse Practitioner spent with me. She did an examination and she as well was extremely professional and it was quick and painless which I REALLY appreciate. She spent time with me and genuinely seemed to care about me and my health. I didn't feel embarrassed or judged at all. The only negative was that even with an appointment, I had to wait so long. My appointment was at 12:20 and I left at 3:10. After checking in at reception, I waited about 20 mins to go into a room and then waited for about 30 mins for the medical assistant and almost another hour to be seen by the provider. I couldn't take away a star though because my experience was so great that i honestly didn't mind and I'm pretty impatient. My next appointment was just to refill by birth control pills (again with an appointment.) I didn't need to see the provider, just needed to pick up the pills and I was there for a little over an hour with most of the time there spent waiting. I've been to other locations where the staff was extremely rude, judgmental and just obviously miserable people but this location was the exact opposite. I'm really appreciative and grateful for the services they provide and the respect/empathy they have for their patients. Last thing, this location along with downtown often have pro-life protestors there in the morning. I have thick skin so they don't bother me but they can be rude and offensive to some. They're usually gone by noon though.

I understand providers sometimes need to cancel, and I also understand they may not have been able to see me the same day, but the way the situation was handled afterward was extremely frustrating. I came in because I'm still experiencing pain and complications from a procedure done through this office, and I had previously been told it was important to come back for follow-up care. I had already tried calling multiple times before coming in and was left on hold for over 2 hours without ever reaching anyone. Nautica was the only person at the front desk when I arrived. When I tried explaining the situation and that I was in serious pain, I felt dismissed instead of helped. Communication was difficult because she spoke very quietly, and when I asked her to speak up so I could hear her clearly, the interaction immediately became tense and defensive. Being met with attitude simply for asking someone to repeat themselves or speak louder is unprofessional and unnecessary. She also stated that the office had tried calling me that morning, but I did not receive any calls, voicemails, or missed calls from them prior to arriving. I was worried about my health, trying to get answers, and also needing to get to work, so the lack of compassion and urgency was upsetting. Patients dealing with ongoing complications should not feel brushed off when they are actively trying to seek medical care.

And also unfortunately felt dismissed during my visit with Claire Brzeski PA. I did have great interactions with other staff ( Molly Beedles PA & Andrew Walsh NP and their nurses ). You can tell that those providers and their nurses enjoy helping people.
