It's clear they care about creating a positive environment for the residents, and everyone has always made me feel welcome. It's a lovely community, and I always enjoy my visits.

We were hopeful it would be a good fit and after almost a month, Westmont surprised us by exceeding our expectations. The health and resident providers are caring and incredible. Concerns are addressed immediately. Donelle the executive director, and the entire Westmont team- especially Stephanie -have provided the highest level of customer service to both the resident and their families. So far, Mom says the dining room produces tasty and nutritious meals. The dining staff tries hard to please. The common areas are lovely and always clean. The hallways smell great and fresh on our regular visits. However, the best part for our mom is the combination and superior quality of the resident activities. This combined with the Westmont community have made a tremendous difference in keeping Mom engaged and busy. We didn't realize how much mom needed this aspect. Living here seems to have cured her loneliness that had crept in the past year and that she tried to hide from us. She continues to be very involved with her family, but now she has the much needed social connections without the increasingly strenuous effort it took on her part when she lived alone. Live music, field trips, holiday celebrations, current events -wow! Lots going on...Every. Single. Day. Fellow residents have welcomed her and the staff encourages interactions. When she tires, mom retreats to her very well-appointed apartment. It's remarkable to us how quickly Mom began thriving here. The impressive Westmont team have been the answer to our prayers after a very trying time spent in the hospital and skilled nursing. Our family is extremely grateful.

The location can't be beat - the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, and beautiful nature walks are all within a mile of your door. And the freeway is so close that getting anywhere outside of Solana Beach is easy. The apartments are beautiful, bright, and spacious. We especially love the second floor units - with tons of natural light and vaulted ceilings that add so much spaciousness. The trees outside make for a nice view and block out the nearby street. We're pretty close to the intersection and neighboring school, but have never had a problem with noise from either. The leasing office staff and maintenance crew are honestly just great people - easy to communicate with, quick to respond, and always so helpful. The apartments are immaculate inside, but the landscaping, pool, gym, and clubhouse are kept just as nice. We've made great use of them all!

I moved out of a second-floor studio at Solana Mar Apartments…read more What I Liked - Beautiful Grounds: The landscaping is lush and well-maintained, perfect for evening strolls or a quick outdoor break. - Well-Equipped Gym: The workout room is bright, spacious, and equipped with all the essential machines and free weights. - Modern Apartment Layout: The units themselves have a clean, contemporary design with ample natural light. - Great location: The beach is a 15-20 minute walk or short drive away. Additionally, numerous lovely shops (Sprouts, Starbucks, Marshalls, etc.) and the famous Cedros District are a 5-minute drive or a pleasant stroll away. What Needs Improvement - Thin Floors & Walls: Noise carries easily between units. Even normal footfalls or a dog's soft bark seem amplified in neighboring apartments. - Neighbor Harassment: My downstairs neighbor repeatedly filed complaints about "excessive noise" despite my walking normally (I can't float). I was issued written warnings without the opportunity to explain, which ultimately forced me to relocate. - Unreliable Pool Heat: The pool's heat pump was broken for nearly a year, so unless you enjoy "cold plunges," skip the pool. - Management and Billing Issues: The front office misquoted my move-out date, resulting in an extra $500 charge. Responses were slow, and I felt my concerns weren't taken seriously. Bottom Line Solana Mar shines in aesthetics and amenities, but the thin construction and inconsistent management practices make living here more stressful than enjoyable. If you're seeking a quiet, hassle-free home, you may want to look elsewhere, especially if you have a pet or value clear communication from the leasing staff.

The complex is continually updating to stay ahead of the aging process with a new pool picnic and family area, new renovations being made to the gym. These things show the commitment that we have continually seen from the management staff. A great place for the value in the beautiful area of Encinitas.

Unfortunately, our move-in experience has been extremely disappointing and stressful…read more When we picked up the keys to our apartment, the unit was not move-in ready or fully habitable. Within days, we encountered multiple serious issues, including leaks, non-functional appliances, and missing essential services. We had no hot water or gas for several days after move-in, a broken stove for nearly a week, a broken microwave, a broken window, a non-functional washer and dryer, and an unresolved bedroom leak. Heat was also an issue early on. Many of these problems should have been identified and resolved before the lease was executed and keys were handed over. While some items were eventually repaired, the process required repeated follow-ups and multiple emails just to get basic responses. Repairs were staggered, delayed, and often incomplete, extending well beyond move-in. We were only partially credited for a portion of the time the unit was impacted, despite ongoing issues. At one point, we were offered access to laundry in another unit as a workaround, even though we signed a lease for an apartment with in-unit laundry. Communication has been especially frustrating. Escalation to a supervisor was promised but delayed, and it was unclear whether a proper pre-move-in inspection was ever completed. The overall impression is a lack of accountability and insufficient quality control before residents are asked to move in. We hoped this would be a positive start in a new home, but instead it has required significant time, effort, and stress to address problems that should never have existed at move-in. Prospective renters should ask very specific questions about inspections, maintenance standards, and how issues are handled before signing a lease.

The first day that I was working out of Bloc, my coworker and I arrived a little bit early, but the lovely lady working the front desk let us in, offered us coffee and other things to drink and let us go enjoy the sun on the back patio while the space got cleared up. The patio is quaint, but wonderful for its purpose, with a small table, a long bench with cushions and both covered and uncovered portions. When we went back in, armed with Lofty's cold brew, we were led to our board room, which was straight across the space, when coming in from the front door. It was, again, light and updated with comfortable and functional furniture, with a cute lil' plant sat right in the middle of the table (he was my buddy). We had a tv screen to play any presentations we wanted to, a whiteboard and an assortment of coloured markers and, most importantly, had adequate outlets for everything we needed. Awesome room!! Over the course of two days, a lot of great work got done in there! Additionally, the location in Solana Beach was awesome. I don't know too much about the overall area, but I do know that we were right down the street from Pizza Port, which was a-okay with me!

She made our move in process super easy and she is always quick to respond and address any of our needs. If you are looking for a quiet location in a beautiful part of north county, I could not recommend this enough. The seller of the house we wanted was back and forth on us for months so I didn't even know if we would get the house. This is when I looked for month-to-month renting options nearby. I wanted a place near where we're planning to move so that I won't have to move my kids from their schools again. It was already stressful enough they had to transfer into a new school a month after it started, so I found this place. Jennifer, the Community Manager here, got back to me immediately, sent me an email and gave me the options they had available. She was responsive, sweet, and accurate with all the details I needed. I reached out to a few other places where the community managers either took weeks to get back to me or didn't seem too thrilled when I asked for a tour of the apartment. Jennifer offered the tour for me and got right to it when I arrived to look at the place. We moved from a 6-bedroom house into a 2-bedroom condo here, but we only needed it for 17 days, so I couldn't complain. I didn't even bother unpacking a lot of my stuff. The place is clean, updated, washer and dryer in the unit, plenty of storage space in the corner unit, and the place was very well maintained. Everyone we met here were really nice, offered help and one lady even came by and gave us a bottle of water while we were moving to welcome us to the neighborhood. I wished we got to stay longer and really enjoy this place, but now I'm just a few blocks away anyway. We ended up getting the house that the lady was back and forth on for 3 months, we got to take our time to move out since we had the place for a month, and even then, Jennifer remained kind and helpful through it all. You don't have to rent this place month to month like I did, but if you ever need an apartment in La Costa, I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks again for helping us with our transition into Carlsbad, a great one.

Friendly service goes a long way, and while applying, going through credit and background checks,…read moreand even carrying doubts from a previous eviction...I carried a somewhat worried and anxious composure. Both Sandra and Ingrid, shared in comforting those anxieties (which to me is a big deal), and walked me step by step through the process. The first step was paying and not knowing if I'd be accepted: $50 is not an expendable amount of money on any persons budget... and I thought to myself..."How many of these will I need to do, before finding a place? Will I spend hundreds just looking? Again, I was re-assured in my confidence with the help of the ladies, and started the process. Though I could've gone home and filled out the on-line application, instead I was invited to stay and Sandra helped by guiding me through it step by step. For the next day or so I was in wait, but it wasn't long before I recieved the call congradulating me on my approval! This was the highlight of it all, because finding a place at the price listed, is not a frequent opportunity I'd assume. Not only because of location (which by the way is a beautifully designed neighborhood, with park belts running through-out, matured and nurtured landscapes and even a walking distance 7-11), but also because I got 200 more square ft. than any others I had viewed to possibly rent. My place was equipt with new carpet, paint, appliances, wood flooring, and the tub/shower stall re-finished. I could've asked for anything more, the place is fantastic!! Once I'd moved in, 2 minor adjustments needed to be made, and as scheduled they were repaired professionally and timely!! Moving is one of the top 3 stressors in life, and being prepared for that is'nt exactly something easily mastered. Changes of environment, new people to share the atmosohere with, and adjusting happen in thier course as they do, we can only hope that it evolves smoothly with our efforts. But, with the right support and the excellent service, I've been making myself at home here with peaceful and happy thoughts....of the next year to come and beyond. Thank you Ingrid and Sandra, for meeting a standard above and beyond, a standard truly catered with care for my needs, and for exceeding the more commonly used and increasingly accepted lower stardards of today in personal care and professionalism.
