Absolutely terrible experience! We were referred to this alteration place by another tailor who was…read morebooked up due to prom season. The women here are kind, but that's about the only good thing I can say. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. I also had a top altered and it came back lopsided. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. Even after a third attempt, the seams were still crooked and the dress was unwearable. I'm now left dressless for my trip and out of money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Let's just say this place has Main Character Energy... but only if you look like you summer in…read moreMonaco. There's a very noticeable difference in how "frequent" clients -- or anyone who seems well-heeled -- are treated versus everyone else. You can feel it the second you walk in (well, after you wait to be buzzed in, because yes, the door is always locked). I brought in a dress that needed a simple one-inch adjustment. The cost? The same price as the dress itself -- and roughly double what other local tailors charge. And here's the kicker: they didn't disclose pricing until after taking measurements. Awkward isn't even the word. Between the locked-door boutique attitude, surprise pricing, and clear preference for "wealthy regulars," this shop caters to a very specific Newport crowd. If you're not in that circle, don't expect the same experience. Bottom line: if you enjoy being subtly sized up and paying luxury-boutique prices for basic alterations, this is your place. Otherwise, save your time (and money'd go literally anywhere else. I won't returning.

I…read morebrought a bridesmaid dress in to be tailored in August, with a two week window to have hemming done. I notified them on the phone, prior to the appointment, the timing and service requested. There was no pricing discussed or mention of it being "cash only" and requiring a deposit. At the appointment, I was a bit early, so I heard the tail-end of a gentlemen's appointment before me. He brought in a full suit to be tailored and they told him, without hesitation, that it could be done within that week. When it came to my appointment, the tone changed. After completing the quick mark-ups on the dress to see where the hemming needed to be, they acted as though two weeks was a rush! Perhaps it is, as I'm not a tailor myself, but it was a bit surprising after hearing the appointment before me. When concluding the appointment, they told me $80 cash only ($40 more than a 5 star rated tailor in Boston mind you, but perhaps this included a "rush" cost) and expected me to have a deposit. Is my deposit not the $250 dress you're holding? I think this policy needed to be a bit more clear. Also, in general, a business does not need to hold two assets to ensure payment at the completion of service, but maybe they have reason for doing so. I picked up the dress and inspected it, and saw a few hanging threads, as it looked a tad rushed (see picture). I'm not sure if it was because of it being considered a rush order, but I was a bit disappointed for the price paid. It was good enough for the wedding, so I chose not to complain. I'll give 4 stars kindly as they did complete service at the height of summer weddings and tailoring needs, but I'm not sure I'll be returning, unless in dire need!

I brought in three items (a scarf, a sweatshirt, and a pair of pajamas) to be embroidered for my honeymoon. I was very specific about the details--monogram placement, font, and even requested that my name be done in all lowercase. Unfortunately, every item was done incorrectly. The monogram on the scarf was placed upside down (so when worn, it read incorrectly), and both the sweatshirt and pajamas were embroidered in the wrong font and not in lowercase as requested. When I brought this to their attention, I was told the original items could not be corrected and would need to be replaced and re-embroidered. To their credit, they agreed to repurchase the items. However, when I returned to pick them up, none of the items had been embroidered at all--and the pajamas provided were not even the correct pair. At that point, I requested a refund for the embroidery services I never received. I was told the employee present was unable to process a refund. I had to insist on getting something in writing stating that I would be refunded, but I have little confidence this will actually happen. I have not received a phone call, email, or any other communication to try to rectify the issue or send a refund. I've since filed a dispute with my bank. Between the repeated errors, lack of attention to detail, and inability to resolve the issue properly, this was an incredibly frustrating experience--especially given that these items were meant for a special occasion. I would not recommend this business based on my experience. The level of inaccuracy and lack of follow-through here is simply unacceptable.
