Tom was recommended from another pool company to contact for some repairs on a new pool. I contacted him regarding some water lever leaking issues, stacked stone and tile issues and a light acid wash for spa. He was very quick to respond and show up to look at the pool. He seemed very knowledgeable with pools and repair and felt very comfortable giving him the business. We discussed re grouting all tile which included removing old grout from the tiles that had grout because the new grout would not adhere. 3 tiles were also to be replaced. He was going to change the paramount water leveler to a float style and cement in because it was leaking due to poor installation. He was going to seal the stacked stone on water feature wall and fill in some of the poor cuts and cracks. He showed up on 2/2 to start the drain and came back on 2/3 to start the repairs and that is when everything changed. I walk outside when I was done in my work meeting, and they had already started, and he says you have about 13 tiles that are not even grouted at all. I said I am aware as we discuss that and that is why you are here. He says come down and look at the skimmer, there is a big gap and again I said I know that's why you are here. I look at the tile and his son is filling in the grout lines with caulk and a putty knife and didn't even do that good. (see picture) I said what are you doing, and he asked what do you mean what am I doing? I said why are you using caulk and not grout as we discussed. He says oh you don't want grout as caulking is way better than grout and is the standard and I have been in business for 44 years and know what I'm doing. I said that is not at all what we discussed and that was not going to be ok. He says well I used caulk because its better and way cheaper. I said we discussed grout and I never asked you to be cheap as we are already fixing the pool one due to the poor pool builder and I don't want to do it again after you. His son walked out of the pool and then threw a temper tantrum and threw his tools at my wall and was cussing the whole way out of my yard. I said OK its time for you guys to get out of here before this becomes a bigger issue. Tom continued to try to sell me on that caulking tile lines was better. I told him that he was lying to me as we had discussed this in detail when he bid it and he had line items on his estimate for regrouting and he continued to try to sell me on it and I went back inside. After 5 minutes when they were packing up their sump pump and hoses, I walked out to give him $100 cash for the drain which he declined as he should, and his son hid behind his dad talking some more crap. I told Tom that he needed to get his son out of here now before this really becomes a huge issue. They left without any further issues. Tom texted me and said to move on like I did but he is the one texting me. I was over it the second I walked inside. He also tried to change his story in the text and say that he was only putting caulk on the coping which was a lie as you can see in the picture of the tile with caulk where there should be grout. I told him that I only got mad when his son threw a tantrum and that I don't need that here and that it is unfortunate that you brought someone like that to a customer's house. It very unprofessional from someone in business for so long. He told me I had no trust because our builder screwed us, and I told him I had complete trust until he deviated from what we discussed and his own two estimates. I have to say that Tom remained respectful after it escalated, and he just wanted to calmly leave which he did. He son however.... Don't hire these guys unless you are going to watch them every second as they might try to pull one on you. I'm sure he will come on here and post a response and say caulk is better but again, not what we discussed and not what i was paying him for. Just look at the pictures. UPDATE: 2/18/2022 - Never answered as I was in meetings when you called me 5 times in one minute. Learn how to text in 2022. I came outside when I was done. The only other thing you did in addition to caulking over the grout on 8 tiles was put caulking over the grout in the skimmer. Ill add a couple more pictures of your fine work. Yep sure did go from 0 to 100 MPH and called you a liar when you tried to make me believe that. Tell the internet again how caulk over grout is ok. If you have nothing nice to say, then zip it? Really Tom, this is a business transaction not a family therapy session. My kids will never hear me called a liar as telling the truth goes a long way and they also don't throw tantrums, especially in public at a customers house. I don't have to call you a liar, the pictures work just fine. The original builder did make a lot of mistakes and unfortunately, I am paying the price for it. I had Tom and his son out to do repairs on my pool. He was to repair the waterfall, fix a rebar bleed, caulk, repair a crack in the top step and repair the pebble tec on the outside of the pool. The day he arrived, I discovered that my pump was leaking. Tom said he would fix it for $160, according to him it needed a seal. Ok I said. The problem I had with Tom, was he wasn't careful with my ornaments and rock around the pool. A year ago I had the rock replaced and now it's discolored. The step he repaired doesn't even come close to matching the pebble tec I had on my pool. It's so noticeable. After they were finished, I called the Pebble Tec dealer in Canada to see if there was anything that could be done. He referred me to the representative for Phoenix area. I told him my concerns and he ask me the name of the company. When I told him he said that their were only 3 company's that had quality control to repair with pebble tec. Triple "R" wasn't on the list. I had ask Tom to use my left over Pebble Tec from when the pool was installed, but he refused. I didn't question it. He was called out of town on an emergency. So he had two employees come by to replace the seal and clean up. As soon as Juam put the seal on the pump it continued to leak. He took pictures for Tom. He was told that it probably need a plate ($250). I asked him. if this doesn't work what now. He said you will need a new pump. I said ok, thinking they knew what they were doing. But the next day, I had second thoughts. I Cancelled and called Clear Pool Solutions (they clean my filter and repair my pump if needed). Quess what, Chris replaced the seal for $120 no more LEAKS. I asked Tom for a refund for the$160, but he won't give it back. I spent $1750 in repairs and he couldn't return my $160, this was not included in the $1750. Chris showed me where the seal was defective. Never will I ever use this company again. Beware when having your pool repaired with pebble tec. Make sure that the company has quality control from Pebble Tec. I live in Buckeye, AZ not CA read more

I paid them $200 to clean my spa and pond. Spa was not wiped down inside and pond cleaned but timer did not work. TripleR claimed it was my lighting contractor that did it and refused to come out and reset the pond timer. That would have solved the problem. Instead I received e-mails from the owner stating he was not responsible and would send the same tech that caused the problem. I stopped payment on the $200 check and he threatened to beat my up for the money. I filed a complaint withe the Goodyear Police Dept. Very unprofessional and argumentive. read more

We needed some structural pool repairs - pebbletec rolled edge cracking - as well as a heater issue with our hot-tub. Tom came out, gave us a very reasonable quote and while there we asked other questions about pool equipment we were thinking of replacing and he gave us his honest opinions and we ended up only replacing our sand. He is extremely knowledgeable and his helpers were all polite, competent and efficient. We'd had other pool repair companies look at the pebbletec cracks and didn't want to tackle it. One star, only because no stars is not an option. I had the displeasure of dealing with this company through my home warranty company. They didn't even show up for our first appointment, calling my husband and leaving a message saying they weren't coming because he didn't answer. Getting them to actually come to the house was like pulling teeth. The manager(?) kept telling me they were on their way and how far my house was from their location numerous times. As if this is somehow my problem and gives them permission to be late to their appointments. Not surprisingly, when they did finally arrive, they told us what we already knew regarding the issue we were having and then left without rectifying anything. Shocker. read more

I totally disagree with the bad reviews on Tom and Triple R. I have known him for over 12 years and used his services several times. He is a fair and honest guy. He will tell you like it is. I was having some problems with my pool lighting. I contacted Tom at Triple R Pool to help me find a solution. Tom went out a looked at my lights and gave me an estimate on replacing the two lights. He even offered that if I wanted to purchase the new lights on my own and ship them to him he would install them for just the labor charge. He charged me $75.00 to come and check my lighting system. Which I thought was more than fair. He was there when he said he would be. I would recommend Triple R Pools and plan to use them in the future. A no nonsense company. Hard to find these days. If I could give zero stars I would. We are very handy people, and by the time we realized we were out of our league on our spa repair, we called Triple R Pool Service to ask them some questions and schedule a service call. We were "greeted" with a nasty response of "I do this for a living, and I"m not going to answer your questions," and then he hung up on us. Being level headed and optimistic people, we decided to call back to confirm what we had just heard. Indeed, Tom answered and said that he did hang up on us, and that he does that all the time. His exact words! I think I was at a loss for words, because I as sitting there agape as he hung up on me again. Then, we received a text message saying he had an emergency looming and he didn't have time to answer questions. Its all very confusing. I can honestly tell you this, if I had an emergency, I wouldn't answer my phone! And I certainly wouldn't hang up on someone twice and admit that "I do it all the time"! We are kind people. I would understand a polite, "I have a family emergency right now, can I call you tomorrow?" That is nothing like what happened, and its amazing to think that a business owner, emergency or not would talk to a customer as he did to both of us. I recommend you stay far away from this business, and it gives me no joy to report these facts. I love small local business, so I am sad to give this review, but I feel the need to let you know what to potentially expect. read more

These guys are awesome! We had an issue with our pool motor. We have a home owner warranty & 2 other pool service companies that were sent out didn't do a damn thing. Each of those companies were at the house for about 5 10 minutes each, never took apart to the pool motor to actually diagnose the issue. They rattled off what they thought the issue was, reported that to our home owner warranty company & our claim got denied. Twice! After some prodding & an angry phone call back to our home owner warranty company they sent our issue to Triple R Pool. From the time I spoke with Tom the owner to the gentlemen who came out to our house, Juan & Cesar, they treated us with respect, listened to our concerns & actually took apart the pool motor & diagnosed the issue. Would rate them at zero stars if that was an option. The owner Tom went to my house when I was not there and gave a status of neglect because my backflow hose had holes in it. Had nothing to do with the system. His opinion because of holes in a hose caused Old Republic to deny my claim and when you call them back they will only decide based on the report. He would not call me back or have a conversation with me on the issue. He is not someone that I would recommend to do anything at my home and his attitude has no customer service related to it. read more
