We were one of three campers so we had the whole place to ourselves. Don't buy firewood just go past the koa campsites and take off forest floor! read more

This is a great campground if you have a boat. The staff are very friendly. The store is convenient. The facilties are clean and the campground is at a nice location. But it was always super loud. The sounds of crickets birds were always drowned out by someone's margarita machine or radio or beer pong game. We wanted to get outdoors into nature...but this is not the campground for that. No real hiking nearby, no place to fish unless you have a boat and no place to swim unless you want to use the pool. This lake and campground is best enjoyed by boaters read more

We just returned from a stay at Trinity Lakes KOA and loved it. OK, the lake's waterline is quite low due to the drought (perhaps a mile from the facility), but the management was worked to be resourceful and help guests. The swimming pool was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, surrounded by big trees. The counselors ran kids' activities with the patience of saints, and the restaurant on site provided my kids with lots of milk shakes and fries. We enjoyed the usual KOA activities (movies, flashlight candy hunt, backyard baseball), and thought the prices we paid were reasonable. Locals directed us to a nearby pond where my husband landed 13 trout in only about 4 hours of fishing (and that's with kids!). I found a hiking trail about 25 minutes up the road which was absolutely lovely. Sure, the location is remote and grocery stores far away, but we loved our stay and will go back again. read more

Our family has been visiting Trinity Lake for 25 years and has had an amazing experience each time. The KOA staff has really kept the park in great condition. We had 21 people in our group with some staying in cabins and others in RV spots everyone was happy with the accommodations. The best experience was the staff, they were more than helpful. The only thing that would have made it perfect would be if they could bring back boat rentals in the park. read more

This is not one of the posh KOAs all decked out with every kid friendly program and amenity. This is a rustic HUGE sprawling KOA where you get a good amount of elbow room. It's not fancy like the Santa Cruz or Petaluma KOA with all the modern amenities like wi-fi (on and off here) and trains but you're in a beautiful forest so your best amentity is mother nature. read more

I stayed here for two nights with my family. The campground is quite large, and there are even people there who seem to have made it their home for a few months. There are truly beautiful hikes around the campground, and the amenities are good. The cons are that this place feels a little run down, compared to some other sites, and that you cannot rent the boats by the hour. My family didn't want to rent the boat for too long, but we were given no other options, so we felt that the cost was too high for what we wanted to do, and ended up not boating at all (boating was the whole point of staying there!). They should advertize the rates on their website, so that people know what to expect. Still, it is a nice site, located in a thick and beautiful forest, and we enjoyed our stay here, mostly thanks to the beautiful hiking trails. read more

I did have to drop my stars this year compared to last year. Still love this KOA, but without Sun Shinners this year it was very disappointing! The main reason we make the 15 hour drive to this KOA, was the youth group that worked there had fun activities for our kids. Word of mouth was that the youth group were over worked last year as a cleaning crew and as such gave a bad review. Because of this bad review, the youth group was not invited back this year. We have been coming consistently for over 5 years only for the youth activities. Big mistake Trinity KOA eliminating the youth activities. What few activities they did have were lead by a much older employee, kids did not enjoy the limited activities and it was hit and miss if the advertised activities were actually happening or not! The Big Foot hunt was always a hit with the kids, wasn't offered this year. Trying to make reservations was very difficult, leaving messages with no call return. By the time someone actually answered the phone, our usual spot was booked (3 months in advance). We were booked into such a tight backin, it took over an hour to get in to the spot. My husband used to be a tow truck driver back in the day and is super experienced and good at backing into a spot. From what the regulars said that stay there all summer, our spot is never rented due to how difficult it is to get into. One of the washers is brand new and has never been plugged in and hooked up the last 3 years we went. Wash is $1.50 and dryer is $1.25. We were told there was new management this year and all I can say is WE WISH THE OLD MANAGEMENT were still there. Not a change for the better! BRING the Youth group back!!!!! Well here we are one year later and if anything Trinity Lake KOA has become worse. There are absolutely no kid activities any more. They used to offer that if the kids found a painted rock and bring them to the office, they get an otter pop. My girls found 2 painted rocks (one of which was rather heavy. They went through the trouble of bringing them to the office, only to be told "we don't do that anymore". Thanks KOA for letting the kids down. The focus seems more on elderly than kids. Their kid activities are the reason we fell in love with this campground. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Vicky, Vicky, Vicky.....Once you meet Vicky you will know what I mean. This person should have absolutely no contact with customers! I only observed her theatrics from a distance, but let me tell you, she is shooting for an Oscar or maybe a mental breakdown. I observed a customer come in asking about the pool and I heard her say things like. "I am behind the counter and your not, if you want to swim you can go to the lake (her young blonde coworker), putting her head down deep breathing and talking to herself to "just breath". I saw nothing of value in this employee and unfortunately the 2 younger blondes that work in the store are taking their behaviors from her. I am sorry that customer service can be difficult, but you should never let the customer and ones that follow, feel your frustration. I also witnessed a male worker disrespecting a female customer at the pool. She had a glass container she was drinking over by the gate away from the pool. Rather than informing her no glass allowed at the pool, he got In her personal space and actually shook his finger in her face as if she were a child. Upon checkout we were ready to leave at 10am. Overheard someone in the store talking about road closure due to fire and we were all stuck. It would have been nice to have something posted or maybe a courtesy notice since they know which campers are checking out. The campground was fairly empty so this was not asking too much. We talked to the front office and they said to let them know if we were going to stay. Our sites were not reserved by anyone so no rush to get out. Within an hour a young girl on a golf cart comes to our site and told us we would be charged for another day. We informed her we had already had a discussion with the front office. We were literally hooked up and pulling out. We had to inform her the 299 was closed. She had no idea. The lack of compassion, understanding and customer service was disappointing. Still good hot showers, laundry facilities are run down and now $2 wash, $2 dry. The washers are half the size of a normal wash tub! Pool is well kept up but the pool deck is falling apart. We used to love this campground, hence the reason we drive 15 hours to enjoy it. Makes me sad all the changes. All we can do is hope for new management and hope it swings back to the campground we used to live! read more

Clean restrooms, large camp sites, beautiful and serene atmosphere. You're in the forest and it is lovely. Yes, there is no lake, but we are also experiencing a drought right now. The drive to the camp grounds was rather frightening (we drove the CA-17 through the Shasta-Trinity National forest) and I would not recommend doing that drive at night. This, of course, has nothing to do with the campground itself. I really enjoyed the beauty of the campground, the large fire pit, and the peace and quiet we experienced there. I would definitely consider going back. read more

The campground was nice but the price was outrageous. We've stayed at some RV parks that were so much nicer and cost less. Pismo Coast Village which I consider a 5 Star was less expensive than Trinity Lake KOA. We were quoted one price and charged another. When I called to question the bill the man informed me that the rates were higher because it was Memorial Day Weekend. That's fine but don't quote one price and charge another. Won't be back. Much nicer campgrounds all over this area. Also no toilet paper in one of the restrooms for a day and a half wasn't appreciated either. read more

My family has been coming to Trinity Lake KOA for a few years now. It has always been a fantastic experience - super clean restrooms (cleaned several times per day!), clear, clean pool and tons of kid/family friendly activities. We were SO disappointed in our stay this year. The bathrooms were quite dirty (one bathroom flooded with waste and they didn't clean it for 2 days and only after I complained-yuck!). In addition, the pool was cloudy and there was only 1 activity for kids on Saturday morning. We also had no electricity at one of the two RV sites we reserved. When we asked for help to fix the issue, someone came to check, but then told us the site wasn't an RV site. It was in the middle of the RV section!!! I'm sad to say we won't be coming back to this campsite. I'm not sure what happened, perhaps new ownership. I suggest you look elsewhere for a camp experience for your family, we certainly will! read more

Before this camping facility was a KOA it was owned by several couples, that were very helpful and Pleasant. The amping area was kept up and the restrooms, showers were very tidy and clean.We started camping there in 1970 until the late 1980's. We came back after we moved out of state for 4 years running. Things had really started to look run down and my daughter rented a cabin. She had very lousy service. We have stopped going now that Koa has taken over and really don't care if you are happy or not. We were the only tent trailer in a huge koa of trailers and toy haulers and boats and four wheel drives. Boating culture but most people were friendly and approachable. Seems like half the people are squatters and some of the tenters back in the woods felt they truly owned the sites they were supposedly renting. They were very territorial and stared at us suspiciously as we drove through checking out the tent sites. Staff friendly but poorly trained and advised. We rented a boat for half day which turned out to be just three hours of actual boating as the tutorial was long and we were forced to fuel up in the middle of our rental time and pay for the gas! So what was the price of the rental for? Luckily I brought my wallet on the boat because our koa Employee who put us on the boat didnt tell us we had to pay for the gas nor did the front desk staff when we registered the day before! Front desk also failed to tell us about the roadside trash pick up when we checked in. We found out three days in when I realized no one else was putting food trash into the bins outside the bathrooms and decided to ask. Sites are crammed together and too many people per site. We had premium site #11 and it's the only site a tent trailer would possibly make sense in and not get swallowed by all the campers, boats, atvs, and monster trucks. Lake was low but beautiful and forrest made it palatable. read more

First off, I love KOA's. There's no other way to camp in my opinion. We stayed here over the weekend of 4th of July and it was our second year going with our family. We stayed in camp site #121 and the rest of our family stayed in the camp sites next to us. If you're looking for a quiet campground, this is not for you, unless you stay in a cabin. I had an 18 month old and it was extremely noisy, especially in that site due to dirt bikes, quads, cars, trucks, etc going in and out of the gate that leads you from the campgrounds to the lake. It was so hard to get him to sleep for naps and stay asleep. For this fact, we will rent one of their cabins next time. When we came here the lake was so low that it was impossible for us to walk from the campground out to the lake like we did last year. We needed to drive out there and even the drive took us a good 15 minutes to get to the edge of the water. Thank goodness we drove our truck for this reason. There were two things that made me cringe while I stayed here. The first being that their playground was very dirty and black with hand prints. It could use a good scrubbing. The second being that from Thursday night to Saturday afternoon the women's bathroom hadn't been cleaned. I know this because every time I went in there I saw the same exact trash on the floor. There was also bugs on the sink, etc. I appreciated having a real bathroom and shower when camping, but I couldn't get past the fact that it made me feel dirty even after I took a shower. For the other kids in our family around 6 - 8 years old they had an awesome time at all of the the programs they offered. They had a pool party, milkshake party, dance party, etc. We will be back next year, but will prepare a little better. read more

I have spent the better part of my summer here with my family which includes our 6 year old autistic son! For those with a child with special needs...this is the place! The setting is perfect regarding safety, cleanliness, and accommodations. If ambulatory mobility is a challenge, this may be somewhat difficult, due to the gravel in the camping area for tents...RV area is paved however! The staff is awesome as is the entire facility! Plenty to do for everyone!! We found this place on a whim...now unequivocally...we consider it our new annual vacation spot!!!! read more
