We had just had brunch at the Cafe Brio and decided they would try doing their drawing in the Arcata Library. The librarians there were the most rude individuals we have encountered in our travels. I feel sorry for the city of Arcata to have these individuals representing their city. Needless to say we won't be returning, and it definitely left us feeling unwelcome in this city.

Located on Pickett Road across the packing lot from the Azalea senior center and adjacent to Pierson park. This satellite facility is supported by the local community, and has a great volunteer staff. As well the "friends of the mckv library" have a monthly book sale fundraiser to help support this facility and help to keep it open. The monthly book sale attracts hundreds of book enthusiasts every month. A small but very well stocked reference section at this library. As well you can order books to checkout anywhere within the county system and have the book delivered to this branch making it easy to pick up for the reader. I would check out book after book with no problems at all--lots of books at a time even. I learned more from reading these academic library books than from my classes. Great selection of poetry, too. For instance you can rent out books, articles or scientific periodicals from other California state universities and I was told also order from international Universities. The benefit of being a grad school is that you can have books up to one year until return date is due and rent out their cam corders and camera for an extended period of time . I started off at this school in 2017 and I definitely have seen many renovations through the years including the café, study rooms, tall shelving and interactive group desks, where group members can meet an use a TV to connect to class projects or the Internet. Till this day the library still has a glass case where they display a wide assortment of clubs, issues and events on campus, with nice added touches of regalia/memorabilia! I highly appreciate the fact that this library recycles electronics this can be found at the exit of the library in the main entrance.

Beautiful building situated in Saunder's park in Trinidad. This library is staffed by one…read moreespecially loyal head librarian. She's been with the library through thick and thin, as the library moved from storage closets to small empty classrooms around this small community. Now Trinidad has a state of the art building with many books donated by local benefactors. The library has a great children's section; a wonderful place to sit and read with your little one. Community activities include children's reading groups, teddy bear sleep-overs, lots of fun stuff.

Monument for those buried at sea [Trinidad CA]…read more I wasn't sure if this Yelp page was for the concrete memorial lighthouse (or is it a replica) or of the one off of Edwards Street. Either way both are remembering those who perished at sea. The memorial on Edward's Street is a pyramid shaped marble slab engraved with sea gulls and the words "Lost At Sea," with names listed on the plaques. As more names were added through the years additional plaques were placed along the adjacent cement retaining wall. There were so many names it was sad to see and reminded me of the movie "the Perfect Storm" [2000] with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. The movie was based on a true story where the boat of the crew of six was caught in a storm and disappeared with no survivors. In 2012, we saw the memorial in Gloucester, Massachusetts inscribed with the names of those men. So sad. The memorials in Trinidad are free to visit. It looks like the lighthouse has moved a couple of times but it was at the harbor area where we saw the lighthouse and fog bell which served as a permanent location for the monument. Both memorial locations were adorned with wreaths during the Memorial Day weekend. The Axel Lindgren Memorial Trail on Edwards Street was currently not available due to erosion. Review #3777

Additional plaques were placed along the adjacent wall as names soon outgrew the smaller monument. There used to be a replica of the 1871 Trinidad Head Lighthouse here. It housed the original Fresnel lens and the bronze fog bell from 1898. But it was moved to Trinidad Rancheria Harbor a few years ago due to erosion. I was moved by the memorial when I passed it on a walk one early morning. Each year on the last Sunday in May, this community gathers to remember the names of the people recorded on the plaques.

The signs don't really tell you where to go, and the whole thing is a very confusing affair. We walked all the way to the top, went around a few times, and we never got to see the lighthouse until we were able to see that it's only open once a month. We feel let down if you want to get some exercise, go ahead, but don't expect to see the lighthouse.

This is a beautiful modern pier nestled in the relatively calm waters of Trinidad. The "new pier"…read morereplaced the "old pier" several years ago, but the primary purpose remains the same: supporting commercial fishing and crabbing operations seasonally. The last hundred feet or so of the pier is designated only for commercial fishing operators, but the rest of this private pier is open to the public. The environment surrounding this pier is breathtaking, with huge headlands towering above either side of the pier, and a gorgeous view of the rocky coastline down towards Humboldt Bay. I visited this pier twice during Thanksgiving week, fishing and crabbing in the evening with my boys. We caught a few small rockfish and white croaker, and several small crabs that were well below the size limit. Can't wait to come back here.

It's California's northernmost oceanfront pier (if that kind of trivia excites you) - and indeed it's eighty miles south of the Oregon border. Just for your reference, the crabbing baskets were decoratively stacked at the end of the pier (photo: http://bit.ly/355OWY8), and the surrounding scenery was near-storybook. Trinidad Bay Memorial Park is the new name for this historic Trinidad California Civic Club…read morelandmark - honoring those lost and buried at sea. It better defines the location and expands it to visually include the waters below. Those memorialized on its name plaques are honored further by dropping the word lighthouse from the old name.
