The staff there is very friendly and they were happy to give us a tour of their place. The day we went they were celebrating Coast Guard Day and their families were there as well. We got to see the Command Ctr, kitchen, motor boat house and dock. We got to tour the two types of boats they use and how they use them. Looking at the pictures on the wall it amazing the conditions that they work in when they have to go out in stormy weather. Its a hidden gem on the remote side of the bay but worth it.

I have driven by it a thousand times and it's unassuming presence blends into the passing landscape easily. This tree covered oasis is definitely worth looking into if you're in need of a large venue space with a full industrial kitchen, a full raised stage area, exceptional sound proofing for the large main event room with secured outer space, and a private parking lot. There are two side entrances as well, allowing kitchen activities and personnel to move in and out without affecting the main event room. The same applies to the other side entrance by the stage area. This is a really nice event and venue space definitely worth consideration. 4 Stars would most definitely consider this spot for its convenience to the college and downtown Arcata. 00624

They didn't treat me like doggie poop, and they made it a little better given the reason but they still treated me like I was a human and not some scum bag, but let's just say I have a lot of things on my bucket list but going to Jail and being on the wrong side was NEVER EVER on it. Thank you to the officers who work here making the experience a little less scarier!!!! YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED

If you're visiting Mad River Beach along the Redwoods Coast, you can't miss the Mad River Bridge!!…read moreIt's got a great aesthetic - perfect for budding photographers. It's easy to access - and if you're there in the spring season, there's a fantastic wildflower field right across from the bridge entrance! Not to mention that it's a hotspot area for birds that migrate seasonally from the Arctic! I had no idea - was a very welcome surprise! The bridge is actually part of the California Coastal Trail - it's at the start of the Hammond Coastal Trail portion. And it's got an interesting history too! This area is know as the "Arcata Bottom" and apparently the area was widely used for dairy farming back in the late 1800s and is largely unchanged since those days! It's very bucolic! People have been crossing the Mad River at this location since 1905. There are several fun info signs around the bridge entrance and even trail maps. There's even a small parking area to the right of the bridge entrance. It's unpaved but in good condition at the time of our visit.
