I had a brisket sandwich, wife had a really immense chicken salad. My son had a ruben sandwich and I can't remember what my daughter had. However, all the food was really great and I really did enjoy myself. After lunch my daughter took me to the Rusty Rail store and I bought a nice T-shirt. If you do buy a T-shirt, I want to say, while the shirts are great, wash up nice and feel really comfortable, make sure you buy an upsized shirt. Normally I take a large but I decided on an XL and I am glad I did because after washing the XL fits perfectly. And I got to speak with (I think either the manager or owner) about the music they were playing. They were playing songs from my favorite singer, Bob Seger. I have every Bob Seger song he ever published on either, CD, Cassette Tape (yeah, still got one that works), or vinyl record. Told him he needs to check out the Bob Seger song Little Victories. I actually have a vinyl record with just that song. It is the large 78 version. That was a rare find and I actually found that in Germany in the mid 80's. The song says a lot. Anyway, after speaking with the man, my daughter said I could pick out and mix my own six pack of beer. Let me tell you, Rusty Rail makes some really, really fantastic beer. I would have to say my two faovrites are Wolf King, a stout with coffee & oatmeal and the other is Fool's Gold, Peanut Butter Hefeweizen. Oh my God, those two are absolutely great beers. I should be living in Mifflinburg because I would be making a weekly stop at the Rusty Rail. And for all you ex-military people, the Rusty Rail does give a discount to military. I hope my kids take me to the Rusty Rail again next year. Oh, in case I did not say it. The kids took mom and dad to the Rusty Rail and the Wild Animal Sanctuary as a gift for our birthday's and Mother's Day and Father's Day. It just so happens my wife was born on Mother's Day and I was born the day after Father's Day. The atmosphere of the Rusty Rail is great, it is simply a real nice place to socialize. And as a compliment to the Rusty Rail, I want to add this. When I go out to eat, one of the first things I do is use the restroom. Why? To see how clean the restrooms are. If a venu's restrooms are dirty, find another place because if they can't keep the restrooms clean, then they don't care about your food much either. The restrooms at the Rust Rail were immaculately clean. JUST TO BE CLEAR, THE RESTROOMS AT THE RUSTY RAIL ARE IMMACULATELY CLEAN. Thank You Rusty Rail for a wonderful time with my family.

We tried stopping in once before and they were completely booked for the night. This time we planned ahead, made a reservation, and were seated right away. At the recommendation of our waitress, we all ordered the chicken and waffles special, and every single person loved it. It was absolutely delicious. I also had the Reuben soup and it was very tasty. They also have a wonderful beer selection. I tried the blueberry beer, which was very tasty with a smooth blueberry finish that really stood out. If you're looking for a great brewery with good food, great beer, and a fun atmosphere, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

I don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to their bar or other food. 5/5 Food: where to start with the burger- its thick patty has a great crisp outside and medium inside and is graced by nicely cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a proper amount of sauce. The fries are classic, semi mush-semi crisp fries with coarse grained salt. The meal with a delicious burger that outdoes any other I've had in state college, even those that cost close to $20. Walking out the door, the meal (fries, burger, drink) cost 8.05, and I was happy to leave a larger than 20% tip to make it $10 even. I challenge you to find a better burger in state college, regardless of price. Honestly, my MBA-trained senses obsessed over what their business model might be and I'm hoping that it was providing enough for the owners and staff. 3.5/5 Service: Friendly. It was really busy when we were there and it was a tad slow, but we also had a group that came in at different times. 4/5 Ambiance: nice-ish college bar inside, clean bathrooms. Only complaint is that the booth table was too tall for the chairs, I felt like I would have been better suited to kneel to eat my burger than sit (I had one friend who did kneel to meet the height of the table) Tl;DR Excellent burger; confusingly great value.

For $3.50 you can get a million broken fries ( no fork) and for us the ketchups were all empty. It was funny watching other patrons track down ketchup. Seating is Lord of the Rings style, but you know that going in. Solid and expectations met, as 9 pm approaches, groups start coming as a changeover to a bar happens.

Very admirable and apparently they do this often to support other causes, as well. We were happy to dine at a restaurant that cares about the local community. Loved the front window open on a warm day and the outdoor seating as we walked in. Service: Hostess and Server were both very friendly, attentive and helpful. Both checked in on us, often. Which, for us, is super important not to feel forgotten. No problem here. Food: Uncorkd Burger (sub grilled chicken), Vegetable Risotto w/Salmon, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Homemade Vanilla Bread Pudding Cake & Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. My wife said, convincingly, that the Grilled Chicken Burger was good. (and that's saying something. (She's super picky about chicken sandwiches) My Vegetable Salmon Risotto was terrific. Fresh, bright, creamy, & flavorful. The salmon may have been cooked slightly over, but only slightly. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls were very good. Not made in-house. The desserts were delicious. Bread pudding with Caramel Drizzle! Oh my! Light & Delicious. Stick Toffee Pudding Cake with a decadent dark chocolate sauce. Delightful. We took those desserts to go and had them at home. Delicious. Terrific experience, tonight. I would go back in a heartbeat. Certainly would recommend. 4.2

These days I live in California, but every time I'm back home, I make it a point to stop in for a drink and a trip down memory lane. I met up with a few of my high school buddies on a Wednesday night while the students were away, so it wasn't packed but that actually made for a more relaxed night. The staff was upbeat and welcoming, and you could just tell everyone behind the bar was having a good time. There was a live acoustic band playing (though I didn't catch the name), which added a great vibe to the evening. The Phyrst is known for its nightly live music. The bar has been completely renovated since my time working there, and I have to say, the new layout is a huge improvement. It flows better and definitely handles a crowd more comfortably on busy nights. I even had the chance to chat with some of the bartenders and share a few stories from my time behind the bar. It's crazy how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. The Phyrst remains one of the most iconic bars in State College and has been a go-to spot for generations of Penn Staters. Whether you're a student, alum, or just passing through, it's a must-visit.

He painted over all that asinine graffiti that was all over the walls and it's . . . clean looking. Like I can respect the place now that there aren't 700 comments about who has homosexual tendencies. I hope it stays this way. And there's windows. A bar owner finally gets that windows make a bar less depressing and feel airier. Fuck sake. You can smoke in here and the smoke eaters work. This is a plus for me. The food: There are some real gems on this menu. Anything signature in the wing department (preceded with JP's or J-Bone) get a dozen of and shove in your face with reckless abandon. Just inhale the fat, grizzle, & bones (they're good for you). If I could bathe in J-Bone sauce, I would. No lying. I would use that shit as gravy at Thanksgiving. Needless to say, I think the sauce and the dry rubs are fuckstickity-awesome-bo-bossum that bear the bars name - I can't stress this enough. Don't' order sweet and sour and expect instant wing orgasm. They're good, but in the way getting the old rub-n-tug is just, ya know, good. There are generational conflicts in Williamsport about who has the best burgers, hoagies, wraps, salads, nachos, - Meh. I have other favorites. No fresh or local food here, just deep-fried deliciousness. Good prices. They have a very respectable beer selection for South Williamsport. JP is not afraid to rotate the tap system so you're not stuck with the tired old standards all the time (Bud, Miller, Lager, etc.). You can get plenty of that crap, but there is always something craft/near craft available. Not much for wine drinkers. Not much in the way of signature drinks per se. Ok drink specials if you are looking to get drunk fast and cheap. They do make a pickle shot with dill pickles (not the original recipe from the Loyalsock Hotel, no sir). The Bloody Mary is interesting. Lots of Tobasco and two dill pickles. Worth a try. If you like football, this is where you want to be on Sunday. If you are an Eagles fan, you have a home here. If you are not an Eagles fan, you are still welcome, but if Philly has a game at the same time, don't expect to hear your team's commentary - you won't. You will most likely get to see it though since there is a plethora of TVs and the NFL ticket. JP's is mad respectful when it comes to Sunday football. No jukebox! Awesome! Almost every other bar in the area gets this wrong. Service. Depends on who you get. All of the bartenders are female and nice to look at (one is a Goddess- I don't know how else to describe her). Overall, the regular bartenders do a really good job. The cooks push food out quickly. Most of the staff is friendly, but some of them are just a little too focused on the regulars. Regulars: Lottsa locals and there's a lot of meat in those heads. The pretty bartenders and sports theme attracts younger men with more testosterone than they know what to do with, lots of flexing. It's a good place for a girl to go if she is looking to get pregnant. Today. Cops: The parking lot in the back of the building is a cop magnet. South Williamsport's finest love to bust patrons coming out of the bar and trying to make a left turn on the Maynard St. Bridge toward Williamsport. They watch you from the Fastenal lot. They also do roving patrols near the bar down Maynard St. and east on Southern. Be careful who's behind you! Also, 9 out of 10 times, if they do a drunk stop, they do it right there at the intersection.
