This store is a haven for children's fashion - the Fith line that is carried here is truly one of a kind. Is it expensive? Yes. Is the quality higher than most children's stores? Absolutely. I'd like to comment about the customer service that may be misunderstood. This is a Japanese owned boutique! In Japan it is very customary to have an employee follow you to help you! I know in NYC some people enjoy their space and quiet while shopping but at Trico Fields I know the employees here mean no disrespect. They are kind and VERY helpful. Every time I go in I'm greeted and helped to shop as I usually pick up a lot of things. I hope anyone who shops here in the future will keep an open mind about service and not feel offended when the employees are overly helpful or follow you. Last time I was in there a fellow shopper (who was a person of color) and I got into a conversation and he told me how he'd been shopping for his son there for ten years. He said his son was now 16 and he could still find items in the store for him. Now if I'm to talk about the actual clothes themselves. Every time my toddler steps outside people swoon over her clothes. She's is pretty much ALWAYS in one or more items from this store. People constantly ask me where I get her clothes. I find a lot of the items in the store to be gender neutral which also means a great deal to me! I always gifts baby sets from here as they are soft and beautiful too. read more

Hello? Winter? ...... Autumn? HellooOOOoooo!!!! Anguish. We are well into October and there's still sweat running amok your forehead; flies frolicking in the humidity, air conditioners humming at night. W-T-H? A big EFF you to all the jackasses at Exxon, Shell, etcetera for killing spring and fall... can you PLEASE diversify into electric combustion engine, cold fusion, ethanol, or some other thing that will keep us eco and clean? Hoping that winter (and/or last leg of the fall) will come soon, I will share with you this SoHo gem, which has the rare trait that it decidedly caters fashion to children??!! That is rare! No? Yes. Garden variety Children's clothing, and even designer's Children's Clothing, can't conceal a certain condescension; "Ta-da, just make it simple, but cute!, Ta-da don't need to work yourself so hard Emily; after all, the child is not gonna even notice what he/she is wearing!" -and thus, children have endured the dire penitence of lackluster design, and sloppy confection. Not here. Trico Field is the Japanese answer to the kindergarten dandy; I'm in awe every time I see the amazing scarves, sweaters, knitwear, gloves and coats that these people make just for the sake of child's aesthetics. This is top-notch, super high quality hand made manufacture; you can see and feel the quality in materials, texture and cut; these people are NOT trying to lure parents using the "cuteness" factor; they are designing as if the CHILD himself was a demanding customer with a discerning taste. These clothes are made with love, and they could teach a lesson or two to many adult stores that are consistently sloppy. But perfection does not come cheap, these clothes are very expensive for children's clothing. Of course they are Japanese. I have to admit that I come for beanie shopping, since they also have them in adult sizes (I am the one in the store that can't find anything my size), and I even get to practice my rusty Japanese with the Nihonjin staff, and If I was a child, this is how I'd like to look in the winter. Heck, maybe I'm still a child. In overall, come here to dress your children with some decency; maybe they are not as oblivious as we'd like to think; their little unconscious mind might be listening. So yes, this is the kind of place where I'll be bringing my little Javiers in a not-so-far future. When you're a single gal with no kiddies of her own on the hunt for a cute new dress or a fab pair of new heels perhaps strolling along and you spot some crazy cute little people clothes that make you stop and want to go in to a children's clothing boutique in SoHo that's when you know there is some seriously cool stuff in there! So I did just that, I popped in forgetting all about my new dress and heels and started oohing and aahing at the adorable kids clothes in this place. I do have nephews and a niece after all, and seeing as how my sister is not the most fashionable woman alive I am the aunt who is all about buying them new clothes they don't want! But... maybe not ones that cost $200 for a teeny tiny little pinstriped jacket my nephew is likely to hate keeping on and will grow out of in two months, and therefore possibly wear once. Cute as it is! Oh, and the hats they have for kids... too adorable! But how many kids will actually keep these vintage looking, delicate ass hats on their heads willingly.. none I know, at least not without proper bribery. Moving along from the price tags though... I mean it's not as if I've never seen overpriced kids clothes. And I actually expected the place to be as expensive as it is, that was not a shocker. What I didn't expect was the lovely, petite sales girl following me around from every nook and cranny of the store playing the "I'm so innocent looking you won't think I'm following you around if I pretend to be straightening up the already impeccably folded shirts just three inches from your every step." Now, I figured this could just be in my head. Because as much as I hate to admit it when you're the only black face in the store you can kind of jump to this conclusion before you should. And I try very hard not to do that, so I let it go after my first visit. However, I recently went back with my sister who was in town, the one with the three kiddies, and couldn't wait to show her this adorable store. We went in and from the second we entered two sales girls were on us! And both the young, innocent looking ones. The older woman who already had a harsh look to her stayed behind the counter. My sister and I even split up and walked to separate ends of the store... and the entire time we each had a girl literally up our asses. This was also a Saturday afternoon, my first visit had been a weekday, so the store was fairly crowded. There were various people wandering around, most with 2 or 3 to a group, all different ethnicity's. But I tell you, they stuck to my sister and I as if they had WANTED posters behind the register with our mugshots on them!! My sister of course noticed it too and so we made our exit. They pretty much followed us to the door and watched us walk out. As we did, a black couple walked in and I watched from the window for a second just to be sure I wasn't wrong, and sure enough little miss innocent made a beeline for them. Whether we may have spent money in this place then or in the future, they will never know. And it's a shame because I work for people who I am always looking for new gift ideas for and was excited to tell folks about their unique stuff. But I make it a habit to never send business to a place that makes me feel like a criminal, and shows off their ignorance. read more

Maybe I just happened to catch the ladies in a good mood but I've always been treated well in this store. I've been buying clothes at this store for my daughter since she was tiny and I first walked into the SOHO shop while working in NYC. It's probably best that they don't sell online, I'd be buying this expensive stuff way too often. As it is, once or twice a year I bring her a new outfit home from this very unique place that is full of really well made kids clothes that she likes and gets compliments on constantly. Now that she is pushing five and starting to have STRONG opinions on the clothes that she wears, I doubt I'll be able to dress her with impunity for much longer. Anyhow, I see the bad reviews on customer service and I have no reason to doubt them. My experience has been very different. Great store. read more

I came to the store last week and was told by the staff that they are having a 50% off sale in two days, so I picked up their catalogues and decided to return in few days for the sale. When I returned, the current collection was removed from the store and they were selling things from the last seasons only. This should not be called 50% off sale because you expect to see 50% off the current collection. I think it is a bad marketing and will never return to this store again. read more

This is my favorite store and my son's favorite store. I have been buying things for him here since before he was born and he is now almost 5 years old. It is the only store that seems to have designers designing for kids. The clothes wash beautifully and look the same when you fold them to put away when they out grow, as the day that I bought them. These are the clothes my son actually wears. I find he always has a favorite zip up for example that he gets tons of use out of from here. Everything is cotton, nothing is itchy, the colors all mix and match from season to season. I also think it is adorable that when my son goes in here he is excited and comfortable enough to ask the sales people for his size in something if he sees an item he likes. They also have larger size Tshirts that I often buy for myself so that we can have matching shirts for special events like birthday parties. They have a line of Mickey Mouse items that are so unique and special. We wear our matching shirts in Disney and everyone asks us where we got our shirts. The sales people send us holiday cards and thank you notes. This is a destination store for us and we always enjoy everything we buy from here. I have a little baby girl on the way and she already has a mini Trico Field wardrobe waiting for her when she arrives. As other reviewers say I agree it is a bit pricey, but when you see how well the items wear and how much your child enjoys them then that has a major value. I buy plenty of lower priced items that just sit in the drawers. As far as the vibe of the sales people, they are wanting to serve you and once they have started waiting on you they will not stop and wait on other people in the store. It is like shopping in Europe where sales people take pride in serving the customers, not the let me help as many people as I can and run around giving half ass service way that American stores tend to be. I think that can be misunderstood very easily. Maybe have a margarita at Dos Cominos next door before going in to shop and have some fun in there! read more

Super cute baby clothes. Everything is well made. Although its kind of ridiculous to spend $20 on socks for a baby this is the kind of place you go to get special presents.. not do all of your kids shopping. Have gotten a few pieces from here and they washed very well and I will be saving them for baby #2. read more

My favorite store!!! each piece that I buy for my son is so well enjoyed and loved! they are they kind of clothes I will keep and possibly put in a shadow box or soemthing! I have never seen clothes of this level of coolness. The tshirts have awesome images on the front and the back so they may be a little more expensive but a lot of love and true creativity go into making them. Store service is great there may be a slight language barrier bc the girls are Korean but they are not snobby at all. They may not kiss your ass but that shouldn't be why you go into a store it should be to buy the clothes. My son is 7 months old and I have been buying clothes for him there even before he was born and I seriously think that the clothes are as cool as he is! If I could pick one store where everyone I know would buy me a baby gift it would be from trico field and that is where I now buy all my baby gifts because they are one of a kind! I even manage to buy tshirts and accessories for me!!! read more
