I driven past this place many times. I try to eat healthily, more often than not, so I knew this was my kind of restaurant, but, upon entering, and then trying for the first time, it was everything I hoped, from the outside, and very much more. I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon, just after lunch. It was busier than I expected, but still comfortable. It's a very homey, neighborhood feeling place. It feels lived in. There's a bookshelf for borrowed books. The music is playing energetically, but at a comfortable level. There is just enough ambient noise to make one forget there's a busy street right outside. I feel like I ducked into a little hideaway. This place, as far as I can tell so far, is a very good balance of hot and prepared foods, smoothies and juices, as well as some snacks. They have a huge menu. I think I took an easy choice with my chicken adobo sandwich. I've gotten somewhat familiar with Filipino foods, and this is Filipinotown. It's a good sandwich. I had to slow down eating it, because I wanted to enjoy my stay longer. I also want to try many more sandwiches. Many more. I think this place will be a new favorite.
Welcome to the jungle of lots to see! The menu options are vast, so many delicious desserts and drink choices, and lots of art mixed with community announcements and more. But amidst all this is that the core of the food and how it's prepared is healthy and delicious. I enjoyed a savory chicken banh mi with a Mexican mocha that was super rich in texture and flavor. Parking is a little challenging but not a deterrent. I'll be back :)
This feels like a little hole in the wall place but I would definitely recommend going ! They have a huge menu so if you get overwhelmed like me, try to plan ahead of time lol. They have juices, smoothies, açaí bowls, smoothies with mushrooms, burgers, wraps, bowls and many more ! I got an ube ice latte and it was perfect ! Not too sweet and you can still taste the coffee unlike other places. I also got a Buddha bowl #2 which is the Filipino adobo bowl. So refreshing ! My bf ordered a wrap and an ice coffee. Everything was a 10/10. Service was quick and the man who took our order was helpful. We definitely would want to come back again to try more things on the menu!
I went to tribal cafe for the first time this past weekend when visiting LA, and I loved it! I wanted to try their immune boost juice since I am getting over being sick. I had expected it to not taste so great since I don't normally love strong juices but this one was delicious. The flavors weren't too strong which is what I was worried about. I also got the turkey pesto bagel which I would also recommend. Their aioli is delish!

Even the menu offerings seems very similar. Usually I attempt to order different things from a menu. But since the Filipino FaknChikn Adobo Sandwich aka Coral Bleaching still remains to be the most unique vegan item on the menu, I was curious to see if it had improved. And you know what? It has! The "chicken" reminds me of a vegan sausage. The sauce had much more flavor. I will mention that it still didn't remind me of the flavors of a Filipino adobo but I'm not mad at it. Maybe it was more of a Mexican adobo and that's cool. It comes with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, vegan mayo, and vegan cheese. The bread roll was a perfect soft texture. One of my favorite spots in LA (born and raised here) - I love coming each time and trying something new from the menu. My favorite are the Shroom Power Elixir Smoothies (Sundance) . The service is also very quick and always friendly. The ambiance is also so unique, welcoming, and supportive of the local community. You have to give this spot a try!
always love stopping by this spot. i usually either get a juice or and coffee today was a juice type of day. i will say it is a bit on the pricey side if you get the large but they have other options as well that are way less shocking lol service is always great and i love discovering new menu items on their huge list of options.
Nice place in Echo Park. I went to Tribal Cafe and ordered a waffle with sausage and ham, and a French vanilla latte. The food was tasty and filling, and the coffee was really good. The staff were very friendly and kind. I had a great experience and would come back again.
The good: I got two fruit juices (I think #2 and #8 on the juice menu) in a medium. The drinks were refreshing and pure. It was high quality juice with fruits like coconut, strawberries, mango, pineapple and orange. They filled up the container and didn't rob you of juice by adding ice. They have both and I door and outdoor space. They have a lot of great menu options outside of drinks. The bad: The total with a 10% tip and tax was just under $39 so it is definitely pricey. I felt pressure with the tip because the cashier held the machine and said "if you wanna leave some love" and it was too awkward to click the "other" and enter "0" button while he held the machine and after he said that. Both of the indoor and outdoor spaces are small. It's hot inside. There is no central a/c but they do have fans. It adds to the tropical juice shop feel. The interesting: They actually forgot to charge me and I walked out with the drinks. I realized I hadn't paid yet so I returned to do so and they didn't realize they hadn't charged me. The interior and exterior feels like you're in a third world country juice shop but the prices feel the opposite. The signs are everywhere in different spots. The door is a metal grate gate and there are boxes and supplies stacked everywhere inside.
They have a massive menu, which can be overwhelming. A wall full of different sandwiches and a separate wall for smoothies. What I liked most about the breakfast sandwiches we got are that they were filled with veggies, it was quite refreshing. The bacon and egg were cooked just right. The chicken is white chicken for the adobo sandiwhich, which Im not used to when I eat the dish but it felt healthier but could use more of the adobo sauce. Service was friendly. We went in the morning so it was easy to find street parking.
Service was very good. Sandwiches were good but not good enough to justify the prices, two sandwiches and one drink and total was $40. Cool great environment and cool restaurant a lil warm in there.
Good food, great hospitality! The vibes are great, all the staff is super nice and the food is delicious. I ordered the chicken adobo sandwich and it tastes so good and was very filling. I also got the pineapple quencher and the drink was so refreshing. The dessert was also yummy! Will definitely be coming back. :)

When I got my drink it was completely different looking. It had white foam on top and it was blended pineapple. I'm not a fan of blended fruit because I don't enjoy the texture, so I already knew I wouldn't really like it as much, but I wasn't going to say anything if it tasted the same because at the end of the day that's all I care about. When I drank it though it was extremely watered down, and honestly not sweet at all. When I asked the girl there about it she kept insisting it was the same drink she just makes it different. Which first of all iced and blended drink are two different categories so no it's not the same. Which is why it's so watered down. I'm not really good at talking on the spot, so I just got aggravated and left after she kept saying it's the same, but honestly the lack of accountability was the most frustrating part. If you know you messed up just remake it, it's not that big of a deal. The menu says iced, the customer that's paying wants iced not whatever you want. I will add that she DID offer to add pineapple chunks, but seeing as the whole drink was blended full of pineapples the suggestion was not great. Which is when I was basically done and just left.

Tribal Cafe is a hippy cozy joint with a massive menu breakfast, smoothies, coffee drinks, sandwiches, and more. They're located along W. Temple st just north of DTLA. I arrived late Thursday morning to grab a coffee and breakfast. But changed my mind after seeing the food reviews. I asked for a Cafe Au Lait (Q2) but the old Filipino man cannot understand nor where in the menu it's at. I stated Q2 and it's just below Q1 (Brewed coffee). He misunderstood and thought I asked for a reg brewed coffee, they only carry one 16oz size btw. I was constraint in time, so I begrudgingly agreed. After a quick sip or two of my coffee, I thought it was ghastly! It wasn't brewed perfectly and it's too bloody roasted despite adding milk and sugar into it. For the love of coffee, this is by far the WORST coffee I ever had in my entire life. I banish my coffee to the nearest trash bin. And went for the coffee shop across the street. Atmosphere was relaxing. Interior layout and design were interesting. Menu list was massive and hard to read bec it was written in small Aerial font sharpie. Street parking only. Prices seem fair. Staff was incompetently professional. Service was ok. Overall, I had a bad coffee. And reluctant to try their other items on the menu. read more

Drove past and thought this cafe looked good so we stopped by and I'm so glad we did! We got the global warming sandwich and the giant chocolate chip cookie. Both delicious! We were so hungry we didn't even take a picture of the sandwich and it was gone in an instant. Staff were so kind and the interior was cute and cozy. There is also some outdoor seating. Would definitely come back, the menu is huge! read more

Was walking around and stumbled over this place and let me tell you it was one of the best experiences ever! I tried out the "We Are the 99% Sandwich" aka Banh Mi with some avocado added and it was full of so much flavor! The veggies are fresh, the chicken was juicy, the french roll was soft and perfectly held all the ingredients together and the chipotle sauce was the cherry on top!!! Not too spicy but does have a little kick to it. The workers here are some of the nicest people I have ever met! Such sweet beings, talking to them made my day! Will for sure be coming back! I recommend this place a bunch especially since they have a wide variety of different delicious foods & amazing service. read more

This was my first time at Tribal Café, and I'm giving them a solid five stars! The vibe here is warm and welcoming--very "lived-in," with that charming neighborhood feel. It's like you've stepped into a family kitchen where Mom is cooking up something amazing. The food is absolutely delicious. I tried the B1 Ultimate Vegetarian Black Bean Tempeh Burger, and wow--it was incredible! I could've easily eaten two of them. The smoothie I had was also fantastic. What stood out the most was the excellent customer service. The staff was friendly and made me feel right at home. The only downside is that parking in the area isn't the easiest, but the experience at Tribal Café more than makes up for it. Love and peace, Be a Proud American read more
Love this place! Really nice cafe/smoothie/lunch place in Echo Park area. First off they have a really big menu so there's something for everyone. The smoothies are amazing, you can tell they're all made with fresh produce and the flavors are always on point. I met the owner Bessie one weekend and she let us sample a bunch of them and I don't think there's a single smoothie that isn't bursting with flavor and nutrients. I tried the superfood smoothie #5 (called "Less Forest, Less Safe") made with pineapple, fresh ginger, banana, flax seeds, etc. SO GOOD and so refreshing. Also with protein and fiber so you can feel good after having this delicious all natural smoothie. I've also tried their sandwiches and bowls. The Filipino Adobo bowl with quinoa, brown rice, veggies, chicken and Adobo sauce was super fresh and tasty. And the full breakfast sandwich with sausage was hearty and packed with protein. The manager Bessie and the staff are extremely friendly and inviting. I also like the outdoor seating, especially when it's a nice day out, makes the meal even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a healthy breakfast/lunch/bite/smoothie in Echo Park area, this is your place! read more

Chaotic interior but a good vibe. The big squeeze smoothie had a bitter aftertaste but I still drank it. The vegan coral bleaching sandwich was good didn't taste like adobo but it was chill. Above average. But the service was good the servers were very nice read more

I found this place randomly on a Tuesday evening. It is tasty and delicious. Service was welcoming and fast. Ambiance was chill. Only suggestion if to clean up their menu style, they have their menu plastered in regular font on the walls. They need a more practical and cleaner menu presentation. 10/10 read more
I've worked nearby for about two years and I keep telling myself that I would make my way to Tribal Cafe, but I never do... But today, oh, today was different. I was craving something 'healthy' after having a slate of grease bombs and processed sugar all week from all the treats I've indulged in for my birthday lmao. Anyway, there is a plethora of choices - everything from salads, sandwiches, acai bowls, wraps, etc. // p.s. I hate the term 'Buddha' bowls because it's misused and appropriated. But anywhooooo!!! I got the T4 juice, which did its' job - like I mentioned, I've been eating a lot of food with less than preferred nutritional value, so I wanted to add a juice to my meal today. Crazy how much better I feel lol. As for my actual food - I got the vegetarian Equality for All. Love the names btw! I love me a good veggie-mushroom-lentil-patty-situation! Haha. I also wasn't sure I was going to be a fan of the aioli because I despise mayo, but the sauce was sorta like a chipotle situation and very enjoyable. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, coffee cafe...it's everything. The staff is incredibly kind and lovely. I've had clean delicious quinoa bowls/salads here but I can also get a delicious cheeseburger when I'm craving one. It has a nice outdoor seating area also. Will be a regular here. read more

An excellent spot for delicious fresh wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, juices, and more! They have a wide array of options for everyone. My favorites have been the Vegan Megalopolis and the vegan tofu scramble burrito. There is ample seating inside and out, and the team is very personable. :) read more

Super cute spot with a biiiiiiig menu. I think I took almost 10mins to decide what I want. The space is small and I noticed a lot of people take their orders to do. They have extensive smoothies, bowls and savory food menu. Definitely has something for every meal of the day. I tried the pitaya bowl which is a dragon fruit smoothie base and liked it a lot. I just wish they didn't put coconut on it like I requested when I ordered. The it açaí bowl came with ube ice cream and it was excellent too. read more

Such a wide menu ! my boyfriend and I were in awe with all the options. I got the Ruby Red Refresh the acai in it was prominent and it was super refreshing, not too sweet. My boyfriend got the Philippine coconut cold brew he liked how it wasn't too sweet and the coconut wasn't overpowering. The nice man that took our order was one man show in the front and was super kind. He was hustling making drinks and serving it to whoever took a seat to wait! The whole cafe was homey. Bright yellow walls with different plants painted on it. It was so comforting my boyfriend and I even took flicks here with our drinks. read more

I can't believe I haven't dropped a review here yet? Biggest secret in LA is Tribal. This cafe has an enormous menu of mostly breakfast/lunch options. A lot of Filipino fusion options. Dishes range from as basic as you want to very complicated and delicious. This breakfast sandwich, for example, has eggs and a boatload of veggies, hummus and cheese. Fresh bread, fresh veggies, eggs cooked on the spot. Abnormally vegan friendly but plenty of meat options and anything in between. There are zero poor choices. Prices are fair, absolutely. You get a lot of bang for your buck; and most choices are incredibly dense with nutrients. Also room for a good burger if you're in the mood. Patrons are friendly, staff is locally owned and friendly. Very fast! My favorite morning/lunch spot easy. They are open late, 8pm. Amazing ambiance: feels like you're on an island at a hut! Takes you right out of LA :) outdoor seating is awesome. Inside is nice too. read more
