Ms.Amna's teaching style is super encouraging, kind and patient especially with little kids this is very important as they get easily distracted! Ms.Amna has a great team of talented dance instructors who teach all age groups including kids and adults. They organize 2 dance recitals every year and our family always looks forward to watch Amnadance shows. Her husband(Dean) also is actively engaged with the recital shows and is an excellent host narrator. After every recital we are awestruck with the amazing choreography, super energy, vibrant costumes, musicmix and innovative concepts!!! We have been taking lessons with Ms.Amna for a while now from before when she was pregnant and has a little 5 month old baby now, however that has never impacted any of our dance lessons or shows. This shows that she is a very dedicated teacher, passionate about her work and displays true professionalism. Ms.Amna and her team are very flexible with schedules and accommodating on a short notice. Amna offered me a reasonable package deal of 8 private lessons for my daughter's solo performance and personally did the music mixing with selected age appropriate lyrics. We got a chance to have 1:1 private lessons for my 5.5yr old daughter with Ms Shayna, one of Amna's instructors. ms.Shayna choreographed on 2 bollywood hiphop fusion dance songs with age-appropriate steps. Her choreography was top class and she helped teach by breaking down steps into small movements and made required adjustments for hard steps. Her teaching style was super fun and and my daughter looked forward to each dance lesson. Ms.Shayna ensured the choreography was completed on time so we had sufficient time for cleanups and dress rehearsals. We are truly impressed by my kids's growth with every performance. I recommend Amnadance as the best Bollywood dance company in Orange County considering teaching instructor skills, various dance styles, professionalism, recitals quality and reasonable prices. We are so blessed and fortunate to be a part of Amnadance family!

Raise the Barre is run by a homeschooler with years of dance and theater experience behind her. It has a certain "family" feel to it but not at the cost of talent. The teachers know their stuff and work the kids hard but still manage to create classes filled with bursts of laughter and highly engaged students. Ballet and tap are what my girls do, but hip hop and other styles are available. And yes, boys are welcome! The school also does musicals and theater work. Small productions are put on in the adjacent intimate theater and bigger ones end up at places like the Attic. Participants range in age from younger primary aged kids to teens and even a few adults! There are also art classes and at times singing/choir is an option. The only downside is that, having grown from a home-based, word of mouth, pretty casual arrangement, it can occasionally fall down in the area of communication. But that's pretty minor in exchange for the atmosphere and the quality lessons.

When I moved to Laguna Beach, I struggled to find a lyrical modern dance class for adults. Jimmie…read moreDeFore Dance Center in Costa Mesa offered adult jazz, tap, hip-hop, and ballet classes, but no modern, and it was not in a convenient location for me. UC Irvine would not allow community members to audit classes. The modern classes that I did find were all geared for children and teens. One day, I met a dancer who recommended I look into Deborah Benson's Lyrical Modern Dance Class through Laguna Beach's Recreation Department. I have to admit that I was initially skeptical of taking a class through the city. I had visions of a mirror-less space with concrete floors. Was I wrong! Who would have guessed that Laguna Beach has such incredible studios -- large and airy spaces with skylights to boot?! Deborah's class has been the best part of living in Laguna Beach (and that's saying a lot, because there are many great things about living here!) Deborah is an amazing dancer, talented choreographer, and a patient and generous instructor. She has experience performing and teaching throughout the country -- in dance studios, schools, and colleges. Her style is José Limón-esque. This is a perfect class for an adult who used to dance and wants to get back into it. Classmates are warm, kind, and non-judgmental. And we're all ages -- from our 20's through 70's! Deborah currently teaches a 1.5 hour class at the Susi Q on Saturdays at 10 am. You can sign up for the session through the City of Laguna Beach (which works out to only be about $10 per class) or drop in for $15. Deborah is currently also teaching a Tuesday evening class at Lang Park. You do NOT need to be a Laguna Beach resident to take either class. Parking is free.

We had soooo much fun tonight at the Wednesday 7:30-8:30PM class (we brought a little cocktail drink to spice things up). The class we went to was a weekly beginners class for those who have packages with the dance studio or for anyone who wants to try it out. You need to make the reservation ahead of time. So there were about 15 girls total, 3 poles and one instructor. The instructor would teach one move at a time and after each demonstration the girls would take turns using the poles to practice. Pop/Dance music was playing, the light was on low so you feel comfrotable enough to walk out 5 feet in front of you to the pole. After 5-6 moves we put the whole routine together and practiced. Some girls were in high heels, some girls were not. The instructor comes around and encourages and corrects. Veronica was our instructor, she was really nice, encouraging and a really sexy dancer. She doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all. What to wear: -Barefoot, flats or high heels. Really anything shoe you wear is fine -Leggings or tights if you don't want to rub your skin against the same pole the other girls are, otherwise, bootie shorts are fine. -Tank top or anything you're comfortable in, you'll be lifting your arms to grab the pole a lot The dance studio is a little hard to find. It's near Debra's Cottage and it's towards the back of the building. You won't see the name "From Mind to Body" because there are other dances studios going on. So go upstairs and that's where you'll be.

I have been pole dancing at Costa mesa and Anahiem studios, my instructor is Candice. I want to say…read morethat if Candice wasn't teaching I probably would not keep going there. My reasons for going are that I have seen huge results. For me this is most important because otherwise why pole dance if your not Pink or making a living doing it. Also I have fun learning new spins and tricks. I found by taking classes at other studios that you get more instruction from Candice. She really has a knack for knowing my strengths and my weeknesses. She will help girls get to the next level, as they are ready. I have witnessed some amazing feats by many women in the 7 months I have been going. She always has new stuff to teach as I know she is continuing to learn more on her time taking class after class to keep it fresh. The things that I have had problems with is the class size. It is very inconsistant. Sometimes we have a pole to ourselves and other times I am sharing with 6-8 or more. We used to have 4 poles at the Costa Mesa studio but now only 3. Anahiem only has 2 that work one has been broken for months. Although there is equipment, class size, class availablity problems with From mind to body. Candice handles it all with a great attitude, sometimes I think Wow how is she pulling it off, No matter what Candice has been the selling point for me. If you want to get strong, feel sexy, have fun, and learn all the new moves Candice is the one that will make it happen.
