I took my first private one hour line dancing class with Ala, from Arthur Murray's dance studio... We had so much fun, Ala made us feel so comfortable doing this for the first time the music was great. He was very patient and we just had a great time. We can't wait to come back and try a salsa class. We met the owner, Steve. Who was so gracious with his time. asked him is salsa difficult, he said no not at all and he came around the counter and gave me a quick salsa lesson on the spot.( I love when things like that happen.) The one hour goes by so quickly, she is fun and explains the steps in an engaging manner and always makes me smile. I have seen a huge progress from day 1. I love Lake Forest Arthur Murray Dance studio! This place has a positive, caring atmosphere with really great teachers! Plus they were top Studio of the Year 2019, their supervisor won the Top Supervisor in 2019, and their studio houses the Top Dancer of Arthur Murray. All of the instructors are highly certified and they compete professionally. But the main reason I like this place is because they make learning to dance enjoyable no matter what your past experience or abilities are. We learn a lot and we laugh and have fun-its is the best part of my day! Some students start with some dance background, some start with none. Some come in with a short term goal like a wedding dance, and I notice some people have been here for many years. It's a really healthy way to exercise. Don't worry if you have not danced before or don't know anyone, because they teach all levels and are super patient. They usually have a party twice a week where they play music and you can dance with other students. All the teachers -Sean, Caitlin, Domonique, Krista, Mike, BJ , John....all are wonderful . They are also professional competitors and every so often we get to watch them dance too! Right now they have both in-person and virtual lessons. Their virtual lessons are very effective. My husband and I started with their 2 lessons for 45 dollars special and that was a great way to give them a try! I need to thank my husband for finding this amazing dance studio! I love dancing but had never tried ballroom dance. Finally last year (Sept 2017) we decided to take a plunge. We both had trepidations going in so we decided to not make any commitments and just give it a week or maybe just one class. What can I say, that one class has extended to 5 private lessons /week.....and all group classes are FREE!!! size of the group classes is not too large and you still get one on one attention from the instructor! The formats of the group classes is structured for all levels, newcomers, beginners, intermediate and all the way to advance. So finding a comfortable niche is so easy. My favorite is our private sessions! I absolutely love my teachers Sean and Caitlin!! Their attention to techniques and ability to deconstruct a complex routine in an easy to understand and implement is AMAZING! They never ever judge, they listen and design the class to each students unique needs and capabilities while constantly encouraging you to move out of your comfort zone. Even though I mainly learn from Sean who is an amazing dancer and teacher along with Caitlin who is so sweet and talented and patient, we also get tips and instructions from all the other instructors who are SO supportive and always willing to help! This is so much fun!! I love learning to dance, and I've come to really trust and appreciate the teachers at Arthur Murray as I learn! My husband and I started with a groupon, a ton of fear, and a simple desire to get up out of our chairs at a wedding or at a swing dance event. Wow, we have learned so much!! We went to a wedding last week and literally felt like we danced the night away!! It was awesome, and what a date night! So many people commented to us that we really look like we know what we are doing, and that we looked like we were having fun. It was a blast! The dance instructors at this studio are so talented and make it easy. Caitlyn breaks down every dance step in newcomers class to such easy basics of that even I can get the hang of it pretty quick. This studio is phenomenal! I can't say enough about this group of talented individuals! We started going last July (2017) with a Groupon, and we enjoyed it so much, we've stayed! The teaching team is first rate, the atmosphere is relaxed, and their personal accomplishments in dance have allowed each of them to teach a variety of dances, depending on what you're after. From rhythm dances (salsa, etc.) smooth dances (waltz, foxtrot, etc.), country, line dances, special events...you name it. We've seen them be able to take students of all skill levels (even me--a shock, for those that know me) and make it look like we know what we're doing! If you've been dancing a while, their classes on technique are challenging but rewarding! If you're thinking about it, take the plunge! My wife was always interested in dance and would ask me if we can learn Latin dances. I was not the type to go dancing but eventually relented. I googled for dance studios and landed up at Arthur Murray Dance Studio at Lake Forest. Our first session was a free lesson and Caitlin gave us a brief intro of Salsa and Rumba dances. We were impressed and decided to continue and signed up for bunch of classes. Wow, what a surprise. I was amazed at the quality of instruction. The dance steps are neatly broken down in different categories so that it does not become overwhelming. We joined in September, 2017 and at first we used to go once a week. But we enjoyed it so much that now we take 5 private lessons per week and occasionally also go to group classes and parties. All the initial awkwardness has disappeared and now we really look forward to each class. In particular, our instructor Caitlin is super nice. In the beginning, I was a bit hesitant but her personality and friendly nature soon took care of my hesitancy. She adds a personal touch to the instruction which makes it a pleasure to learn. Overall, the students and teachers alike are all extremely welcoming. There is no judging each other there either. Even though the studio is a business (so needs to make money), I feel that the teachers take pleasure and pride in teaching what they love. Our instructor, Sean, choreographed and taught us our dance with ease and he seemed to have a lot of fun doing so. We were able to wow our guests, as all of them knew we couldn't really dance. You couldn't ask for a better place to learn to dance: all kinds, smooth (e.g. waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep), rhythem (e.g. swing, rumba, salsa, cha cha), country western like the two-step, and specialty dances like Argentine Tango. Each week there are several opportunities for free group lessons and two free parties each werk. And each year there are opportunities to attend three local competitions with other studios, both the local Southern California ones and others from across the nation. You can also take part in competitions in other cities across the nation and in other countries. We have really enjoyed our first 4-5 dance lessons along with the 45 minute group sessions with other instructors. Merci has been our lead instructor and Christopher has done a great job with us as well. The team makes it very easy with us being beginners and getting our wedding dance ready to go. Came here with my fiance to learn some moves for our first dance. We were a bit nervous at first but the people here are super nice and friendly. The first time was a private dance lesson, our instructor Ray was very patient with us and taught us some easy but nice moves. The second time we can here was for a group lesson and party lesson. We learned the hustle, and rotated with other beginners, it was a little awkward to dance with someone else but everyone there is super friendly. After the group lesson, they turned the lights down and the music up. We were able to learn all different dance moves, salsa, foxtrot, rumba and even the electric slide! It last for about 2 hours but time flew. I would highly recommend this place if your looking to learn some moves for an event or just want to pick up a hobby. read more

Took dancing lessons here for my wedding, and my husband and I decided to continue on for extra lessons beyond our wedding dance. My husband and I were definitely not naturals at dancing and made our share of mistakes, but the Arthur Murray team was very patient, friendly and encouraging. I would definitely recommend this studio to couples for their wedding dance, as well as any couples who just want to spend time together in a meaningful way. We went in thinking that it was something we had to do for our wedding and that we wouldn't like the lessons, but my husband and I probably spent our whole lessons smiling and having fun. Since we were also stretched with finances for the wedding, they made it easy for us to pay for the additional lessons on a reasonable pay scale, which allowed us to keep going as long as we wanted or quit at any time without losing more than one or two session's payment. read more

Wow - this studio changed my life! I never thought of myself as a "dancer", heck I was terrified the first time I went. But everyone there is incredibly supportive and all of the instructors are not only fantastic teachers with incredibly deep knowledge of the bio mechanics required to learn each of the step patterns and styles. Additionally, I've managed to loose 60 pounds (so far). It's like the best gym ever. I have been lucky enough to progress through the Arthur Murray dance system and achieve full bronze status (which basically means that I can now identify what dances belong with which music and can do the basic steps for each). I love all of the staff and feel pretty privileged to be able to attend these events. Plus there are so many "extras" that you wind up getting (like free group classes as long as you are taking individual lessons). How about customized programs for each student to focus on and incredibly supportive folk involved at every level. If you have any interest in dance (even a casual interest). Started dance classes with my daughter for her debutante ball in September 2010. Had so much fun decided to surprise my wife and bought her and I a starting dance package for the holidays. My mom dances, my dad dances, my brother dances, my aunt dances, my uncle dances, I dance. We're a ballroom dancing family! So, you can imagine when my fiance proposed to me over a year ago ... how intimidated he felt about dancing at our wedding. As a family, we've danced at every studio in Orange County and there was only one place that I'd bring my husband to ease him into social dancing for our wedding and that was Arthur Murray. My home studio is in Costa Mesa, but my husband at the time lived in Lake Forest. So, I brought him there. In this area, they're all owned by the same family. My husband comes from a family where the mom literally laughs at her husband on the dance floor which would bruise any man's ego. Not to mention his friends poked fun in college at the local CW dance places. The entourage of teachers and the community of students instantly built my husband's confidence up to be able to twirl me around the dance floor. In a short time he learned a short routine to our song "She's Everything" by Brad Paisley and with a few more lessons, group classes and a few practice parties gave him the ability to dance a bunch of other dances. The most impressive part of the whole experience was that my husband was able to lead his mom in an impromptu foxtrot that blew even his friends away! My wedding was absolutely unforgettable! We were expecting to learn the basics and just how not to crash into each other (my husband has two left feet and I'm not the most coordinated either).
