Armadale Farm Kennel - Tonight. Completely happy, loved and exhausted from play

My dog is timid and does not usually get along well with other dogs or people (apart from myself and a select few). However, she loves the Armadale staff! It is such a reassuring feeling knowing she is being taken care of and loved on while we are away. The staff are also able to accommodate by taking her out alone and not during group play. I love that the kennel also offers grooming services that can be completed during their stay. I highly recommend the staff at Armadale!

This place is fantastic…read more After my baby was born, and my dog's temperament changed (loves the baby, loves other dogs, hates everyone else) and we struggled with finding him a place to stay that would accept him for his dumbness and awesomeness. Our vet recommended this place as a venue that was known for working well with dogs who could be a pain in the butt. (That's not to say all dogs who come here have attitude problems, most of them don't) but if your pup can be a pain with strangers, Armadale works with the dogs comfort level, making them happy and giving you a sense of relief when you have to leave them for a bit. Fast forward two years later, our dog is happy to go here, and when we do have to leave town or have visitors come over to stay, I know he's happy and in good hands. The groomers here are especially patient with my dog, know his quirks and they are always able to send him back to me clean and polished up. The staff here really treats the dogs that come for a stay with the same love and attention as their own. They have a variety of options for activities and treats for the dogs and cats, including a Sunday brunch and play time with report cards. The a la cart menu can add up, but it's nice to be able to have the choice of these options making you and your pup feel right at home.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!!!!!!…read more I wouldn't even give this place 1 star but I had to rate this horrible place in order to leave a review!!! My wife and I boarded our puppy Teddy-Blu here for 1 day (Thankfully) and it was a complete nightmare. seemed a bit sketchy compared to what they'd advertised but the young lady at the front desk made us feel a little better and said they would send pictures. I also never received pics. Fast forward, the next day we were scheduled for pickup at 7:00 PM. My wife and I arrived in the parking lot at 7:01 PM. I left my purse in the car and went back to get it and it was now 7:02 PM. We rang the bell and nobody came to the door. The lights were on but the door was locked. We waited outside for about 10mins thinking the staff may have been assisting with the other dogs but nobody ever came to the door. Shortly after, a man walks across the yard through the gate, and we immediately began telling him that we are here for a 7 PM pick up for our puppy. He stated, he is only a groomer, and cannot release any of the dogs, or he could get in trouble, so I asked him for an emergency contact number which he never provided. He also stated there was an issue last week with a drop off. my wife said she saw him inside speaking with someone but they must have been hiding in the back office as we looked through the front door. The groomer comes back, tells us we have to come back tomorrow, which we were highly upset about. 1 we wasn't leaving without our puppy & 2 we just drove six hours to get back in traffic and we work early in the morning the following day. We just wanted our puppy. The groomer, then attempts to go back inside to find a number and while we're sitting in the car and we could see him through the window grabbing his bag to leave while speaking to someone inside. I could clearly see he was speaking to someone in a black shirt & he comes out and tells us to come back tomorrow as the lights turned off. I then asked who were you talking to inside and he stated she's not coming out! At that point I became livid and contacted the local police department at 7:26 PM. I explained to the officer what was going on and mentioned that I had proof of the 7PM pickup - he stated even if you were a few minutes late, they should have given you your dog. He also stated that he was 15 to 20 minutes out and he was on the way. While waiting on the officer, the person in the office walked around the back and into her home, never came to the door . Once the officer arrived (7:50 PM), the groomer had left already, and my wife and I were still sitting outside. I immediately told the officer that the owner lives next-door and the officer got in his car and drove next-door. We could see someone looking out the window, as the cop knocked on the door. A man and the officer walked back through the same gate, the groomer came through. The man began to look through the windows, turn the doorknob and ring the bell (the same thing that we had been doing for the last hour). All of a sudden the lights mysteriously came back on inside the pet hotel. A lady finally answered the door, which was Lisa the owner wearing the EXACT same black shirt I had seen her in through the window. She then asked the cop how she could help him and the officer stated ma'am these people are here to pick up their puppy. She stated, we close at 7 PM and the officer said ma'am they've been here since 7 PM. (Why have a 7PM pickup if you close exactly at 7????) She then stated, oh one of the dogs were sick and got diarrhea all over me, I had to jump in the shower so I locked the door at 7 o'clock (which was our pickup time), as we stood outside for an hour & were told to come back tomorrow, twice! The officer basically made her give us our puppy, we paid the remaining balance and left. Once we got our puppy, we noticed he didn't seem himself. He was extremely dehydrated, antsy and cried the whole way home. Once we got him home, he immediately went to the bathroom and he was starving. They had removed his collar for some odd reason & he was extremely dirty. When we went through his bag, we noticed that they had not fed him after I clearly filled out their detail form with the exact times he needed to eat (last meal was supposed to be given by 6:30 PM - 30 mins before our pickup time) and we even pre-bagged each meal to better assist the staff. So yeah, do yourself a favor and run the other way!! They are not feeding these animals proper and they make you pay more for VIP rooms and play time when in reality, they keep them caged up all day and one cage isn't any different from the other. This was our FIRST and LAST time boarding our puppy. What a horrible experience, and the worst customer service ever!! Especially from the owner (Lisa) herself. She was very unprofessional, and her attitude is disgusting!!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Not sure if it is because of management changes or what…read morebut the last time I boarded my dog here she came back with what I think was kennel cough. I vowed never to board her here again. I thought after a few months I would try again since reviews looked better. There is new management now someone named Ashley. I called the day before and booked a daycare visit. I even double checked with the girl and had her records sent over the girl assured me it was ok and to bring her in the morning. I even called my vet In Florida and her daycare there also. Her Bordatella shot was good until 12/2021. All correct on their files but somehow this company continues to report incorrect findings. If a business can't be honest and just own up to their mistake it shows poor quality in manager and owners. Notice my first review of this place was pretty nice and honest. I Brought her in at 6:45 am and they said oh her bordatella is due we can't let her out she will be crated until we can contact you further. Mind you at this point I had already dropped her off and was already at work! If I would have known this I would have never dropped her off. I had to leave work and come back and get her and then drop her back off and then go back to work. ** Yes when I called they did give me my package back of 60 some dollars which was good. Another clue dog parents is your dog does tell you if she likes daycare ...at least mine does because she has been going since she was a puppy. I had 3 other doggy daycare centers in NC and one is next to a vet check my dogs vaccination records that state she was good until December 2021. She cowered as soon as I brought her in and she peed on the floor and tried to go straight to the exit door!!!! Should've been my first clue! I feel bad even bringing her back here. After this experience I will NEVER EVER AGAIN BRING HER HERE!

I came across this place on a Google search and reached out. I am glad I did. First they have to interview my dog to make sure she is not Cujo so that makes me feel better that they will screen all the campers there and second they make sure we have all the vaccinations. My dog loves it there and she has been there for the whole week and coming back exhausted. I feel better when I am at work while she is at camp. Definitely using them again if I get to come back to Durham on business.
