Staff were extremely communicative each day with photo updates taking into consideration I was nervous boarding my dog for the first time. I also had my dog groomed towards the end of her stay, which turned out adorable. Upon picking my dog up, and returning home, she was barely able to keep her eyes open in the car! I can only assume her playtime and the attention she was given was enough to keep her calm and happy. I appreciated that there were three separate areas, one for big dogs, one for medium dogs, and a quiet area for small dogs. They also returned leftover food. I just moved to the area and didn't know anything around here. I brought my 1 year old doodle and I have to say she LOVES Angelica! When we first walked in she's was very anxious with the barking and she only likes small dogs so they let her go with the small dogs until it was time for her grooming. Well when she was done with her grooming she didn't want to leave Angelica so she let Mia stay with her until it was time to pick her up instead of playing. She did come home with kennel cough the first time but never had an issue since. read more

My oldest two babies have been getting groomed with Sherrill for over 8 years. My new one has been going since we brought him home 9 months ago. I have been using their taxi service for years and the team is remarkably patient even when my babies are not really ready to go. Honestly? I will never bring my dog here again. Last year, I took my 4 year old lab to the vet to get all his shots up to date and to make sure he was healthy. All labs were clear. He was healthy and good to go. Vet said that he was fine to get boarded. So, the next day, I took my boy to Paws Pet Concierge in Cary for an initial visit, just to see how he would react. I also provided all paperwork from the vet... vaccines and a letter stating he was healthy with no issues. He loved it. The next day, I dropped him off, along with a full 16lb bag of his food. And 6 cans of soft food I had gotten from the vet. My family was going out of town for 6 days, so i made sure he had more than enough food. I left them my contact information and our vet (also in Cary) , just in case. On day 4, I received an text saying he was coughing. They sent a short video clip. I called and they said that he was sick when I brought him. I told them No, he was fine, since I had to have a vet give him a clean bill of health before I could board him. I told them to call our vet and if need be, take him. It was literally down the road from them. I would text every day, and get messages saying he was fine. Fast forward, we get home, I go straight to the boarding center to pick up my boy. They said he was sick and when I saw him, my heart broke. He had green snot oozing from his nose and he was coughing bad. Plus, he was wobbly. I asked for his food. The bag was barely touched and they didn't even feed him any of the cans. They made up some excuses that he refused to eat and I asked if they ever consulted our vet when they saw him not eating... they said no. My boy was starving when I took him home. I paid them over $700 to board him for 6 days, and he came back super sick. They kept blaming him for being sick. The next day I took him to our vet. They did blood work and labs, and said he lost 8 lbs since his last visit, which was 2 days before I dropped him off... which was 9 days prior to his boarding. I explained what the lady at the desk said to me. The vet was upset that she said that my dog was supposedly sick before boarding. He was livid. He swore that all my dog's labs came back negative. Unfortunately, while he was in the boarding kennel, he got kennel cough. And they never once contacted him, nor anyone at the vets office while he was in their care. Since they did nothing to help him while he was there, it developed into pneumonia. My poor boy had contracted kennel cough from this place, and they were extremely rude to me when I called them from my vet's, with him sitting there listening. Not only did I spend over $700 to board him, but I also spent over $1000 in vet bills after picking him up. The vet said he could have died if I was a few days later picking up my dog. PAWS PET CONCIERGE never apologized nor contacted me after. I am so incredibly traumatized by how they treated my dog that I can't let him out of my site when I'm home. And now, if I have to go out of town, I have to pay someone to come to my house and take care of him. I will never trust an establishment like this with my dog ever again. Please use caution when looking for a boarding kennel. I do not recommend this place. read more

Took my sheepadoodle here for grooming after just moving to the state and As soon as I walked in it smelled and I couldn't even talk over how loud the place was just to check my dog in for grooming. After 3.5 hours they called to say he was ready and when I picked him up he smelled like dog vs shampoo because they let him run around with about 15 other dogs while waiting for me to pick up and his cut was the worst one he has ever had. I brought my cat in to be shaved due to big knots in her fur. I had to schedule 3 weeks out because I was told she liked to do cats first so I needed a 9 o'clock apt. Groomer wasn't even there u til 9:30. My poor cat was there for 5 hours. Plus I sad don't give her a bath and they gave her a bath. The cut was a lion cut and she did do a good job with that. Just picked up our fur people - 2 dogs and one small cat after we returned from a 10 day vacation. All we can say is WOW- beautiful grooming, happy pups and cat, so well taken care of. The three animals said they had a fantastic time at their doggie spa. They are so happy - we LOVE Sherrill and her team. The groomer did an amazing job on our Bichon and our Schnauzer. My baby Luna needed a shave BADLY and a lot of places were closed on Sunday which is my only available day. So I found this place and looked over the reviews and prices. Made a call and was greeted with a very friendly voice who asked if she could check the schedule for today and call me right back. She called me back within 10mins and asked me if I could come down now. When I arrived, I was greeted by a nice lady who wrote in cursive LOL sorry it's rare to see these days. Anyways she was so sweet my Luna was relaxed with her meanwhile I was nervous as heck! I noticed they do not lock the dogs up in crates/kennels which I love. I dropped her off and was called that she was ready about 2-3hrs later. My baby looked like a brand new dog!!! Best haircut she's ever had and they said she did amazing! We scheduled an appointment to get our dog groomed at 9:30am, but the whole day went by and they never groomed him! Eventually, we had to pick up him ungroomed at 4 pm... so our dog spent the whole day there for no reason. This may not seem like a big issue, but our dog has anxiety and typically has a hard time being away from the family. Apparently, they overbooked themselves and were not able to get around to grooming him all day. They said that some dogs were brought in right when they opened that they had to get done first. We called at 12 asking to come pick him up, and at that time they apologized, saying they had not started grooming him but would be done within the next two hours. They never even got around to starting to groom him in the next four hours. To make matters worse, they forgot to put on his collar that they took off, and we didn't notice until we got home. However, they did kindly offer to drop it off at our address. They also did offer to groom him for free on another day after we picked him up. But, we do not think we will be returning. I'm giving this place of business 2 stars because we have been to this groomer before and have had mediocre service. The groomer is kind and usually does a good job in a timely manner. read more

Can I tell you how many times I have not gone somewhere because if I can't bring my dog..well then I'm just not leaving! So there. But you know how it is - life happens. I was scheduled for surgery ( my 2nd in 6 months) and superstition got the better of me so I just really really needed to visit my father before going under the knife yet again. Now what do I do? He lives in Florida and I'm here in NC in a new city with no contacts. I needed someone to care for not only my very spoiled dog but also my 5 cats. Yikes! As it happened, Sherrill, the super duper owner of Penny Pinching Pooches ( or TripleP as she will now be known) was also doing her doggy daycare thing at the groomer I found and we struck up a conversation. I was immediately impressed with not only her friendliness but also her professionalism. Sherrill is so easy to talk to yet she maintains a keen sense of the right way to run a business.. that I now knew I had found someone who understood the high degree of anxiety I felt about leaving my furkids with a relative stranger ( better than a strange relative right?). There are forms to be filled out and conversations to be had and all of that just solidified my feeling that I was leaving my guys in good & capable hands. Off I went to Fla. with a much lower level of anxiety knowing that Sherrill would be calling me nightly ( I specified the time when she would check in with me) with a complete animal update. My visit was with my father was great, the eventual surgery was a success, my animals did just fine without me and I got myself a responsible trustworthy pet sitter to boot. Our black lab had just lost a leg to cancer and we needed a little help with transporting him back and forth to radiation appointments. We have used Sherrill's boarding several times now for long weekends and trips where we can't bring the pup. She understands his needs with being a tripod and an old man. He likes hanging out with the small dogs and he is accommodated. I am extremely happy with Angelica and my experience at Paws. I have a senior dog and have been trying to find a groomer who will treat her with TLC and get her groomed quickly. She sat down with my old girl in the lobby to comfort and make her (and me) comfortable her first time there. She was able to get my dog groomed within 2 hours and I received a call ahead of time so I could be there right when she was ready. My Jack sometimes tries to be the boss and is bratty but is well taken care of. My Jack gets so excite when I pull into the parking lot of PPP. I have been using PPP for 7 years. I can say without a doubt they will be the best pet sitting or pet daycare business you will find, period. Sherrill and her staff will treat you and of course your pet like a member of the family, even better. The services they offer from daycare, grooming and house pet sitting are so convenient and affordable you will wonder why you haven't always used their services. Heck they even pick up and drop off. I think my British Bulldog, Caroline likes doggy daycare better than home. The facility is open, clean full of fun things that keep the dogs active all day. When she gets home she is pooped. We brought our dog in for a grooming in March and they did a decent job. They missed 1 nail that ended up growing inward and needed to be ground off (good thing I bought a dremel). This nail was disappointing, but understandable as it was her first time there and she was probably not a happy camper. But overall, a decent job was done. We brought her back 4 weeks later for another grooming. An hour after dropping her off, I was contacted and asked to come pick her up, as she had attempted to bite the groomer (a different person from her first visit). When I picked her up, the owner (I assume) informed me the groomers thought she should be sedated for groomings and neither one (there were 2 on staff that day) wanted to care for her. Keeping in mind, this is a 7lb Maltese who is 11yrs old. Those familiar with the breed will know this dog requires constant grooming and hair cuts. This is not her first rodeo with a groomer. I was a little surprised that a business that is built on grooming dogs would not realize that some dogs will try to nip a stranger. That's like a veterinarian saying they would not treat an animal because it attempted to nip them when they tried to stick a flashlight in their ear. The owner stated she would contact me when the groomer who worked on her the first time was on shift again - it's been 3 weeks with not even a peep. At least have the decency to tell me just don't bring her back. Oddly enough, I have now discovered that I am a decent amateur dog groomer. I purchased a Wahl shaver, and together with the dremel, I do a decent job of shaving our dog and trimming her nails. Who knew? Now I save $45+/month, and I don't have to deal with people who aren't comfortable working with dogs at a dog salon/doggy daycare. read more

I was blessed with stumbling upon Sherrill and her doggie daycare about a year ago. I went there because of the affordable prices; stay there because of the genuine love they give each animal on a daily basis. My two babies get so excited when I get their leashes out in the morning and tell them we are going to "school"! They have learned the route to daycare and start to jump around in the car & whine as soon as we get off the exit. My Rosie came from a shelter and is usually very skittish, but at Penny Pinching Pooches she feels right at home. I honestly cannot tell you how much that says about the wonderful care I know they give to my babies. With dogs, just like small children, they can't verbalize if they like something or not, so knowing they are so excited when we get to daycare tells me they are loved & happy when they are there. They are always greeted with a smile and love as soon as they come through the door. Sherrill even sends me the occasional picture of my babies playing! The entire staff is awesome & I know they are in great care there. Any little subtle change in their behavior and they always let me know immediately. I work at a local vet hospital so I know how important it is to catch things early with fur babies! It is such a stress relief for me to know they are playing, getting much needed exercise & socialization, being monitored and loved while I am working, it makes my day so much better. Tara has a grooming service there as well and gives my babies a nice spa day when needed. She is the only person (including myself) who has ever been able to do my Hurley's nails without him needing a muzzle! Clean, tired dogs at the end of a work day...what more can you ask for! I would highly recommend PPP! When I got my puppy, Buddy, several months ago a colleague recommended PPP to me and she absolutely raved about them. It didn't take me long to figure out why. The owner and all of the employees have a genuine interest in providing the best care for our furry friends while we're away. Before Buddy could go to day camp I had PPP come over for daily check-ins and dog walking. Michelle was our dog walker and she was wonderful. She didn't just walk Buddy but she took the time to play with him and even helped with training. She gave me updates after each visit which was really helpful. Buddy was able to start day camp at PPP a couple of months ago and he has been doing great. I like the no kennel system they have, it seems to work well and Buddy has become a very well socialized dog. He gets a ton of playtime in as well as his naps. The employees are always so excited to see him and they are all so nice and helpful every time I come in. Sherrill, the owner, is awesome and she has been so accommodating when I need anything. I can't say enough about PPP, they provide a high level of service and take great care of Buddy which is a huge relief for me. I would never take my 4 year old multipoo back to Penny Pinching Pooches. Due to my previous groomer moving away I looked for a new one. I found Penny Pinching on the site for recommended dog grooming. Well, the price was the same as other groomers I had contacted. Liking their web site I took a chance. My dog has been groomed every 4 to 5 weeks so he is used to being groomed. Well It has only been a week since he was hacked at Penny Pinching and he looks like he has not been groomed in months. His hair is sticking out all over, his paws were not properly cut and his nails seem as though they were not trimmed. His behind was not properly shaved so everytime he goes poop I have to wipe away the poop that is stuck to his hair. One may say why did I not notice this when I picked him up ? Well I was hoping he would look better in a few days. It has been 11 days and he looks like he never got groomed. I know he even feels bad because he goes and hides in his bed.
