We have used this pet sitting service 3x in the last 3 months and couldn't be happier. We struggled trying to find someone on short notice (the BF isn't a planner), but we were thankful to find this company. The initial interview with Nadia was informative ( our cats did not behave, but that didn't deter the service). She explained all of the services that would be provided and provided us with the magnet card for the fridge. This was to be used for scanning in and out of the house. You need to log into your account to see the time stamp in and out and the standard information of the pet care. The website is easy to navigate! Our sitter, Hannah, is awesome and she sends daily updates along with the picture of our allusive babies (they are hiders, but this last visit they finally came out to say HI!). I think Hannah was super stoked to get the rare sighting of our Tuxedo Man, as he's not fond of strangers. You could tell by email she was elated! She has crawled under beds to try to capture these two and we thank her for that! She lays out their toys so she knows if they are coming out while she's away and that's comforting to know. She also hides treats around the house to make sure they are coming out as well. On our first trip away, it was just a long weekend, but it's hard to leave your fur babies, we arrived to a clean litter box, food and water full, and the floor free from litter (cat owners know this is no easy feat). When we were gone on another vacation, the snow--apocalypse happened in Raleigh. Four Paws contacted us immediately regarding the weather. They kept us up to date about the status of the roads. Since we just have cats, we didn't want anyone to risk too much by driving, since these babies don't have to be let out and other animals may have needed that attention more., so we told them that if it was too dangerous to not risk it and just try again the next day. They continued to update us and did make it to the house safe and sound. We even told her to not stay the full time just to make sure she was safe. Hannah's emails are funny and written just as how I picture she talks. We enjoy these little tid bits as we are enjoying vacations away from the babies. I really like the services that we have received and they will be booked soon for another vacation we have planned next month! read more

Unreliable & Disorganized We're new to the area and I needed to find a new pet sitter to cover a planned weekend trip next month. I originally reached out to Four Paws based on good reviews I saw here, but unfortunately had a very frustrating experience instead. Firstly, before being willing to discuss anything they demanded that I make an account on their website and then fill out an extremely lengthy profile. Then, a day or so later, they emailed to ask for specifics for our trip and said they'd be arranging a visit with our sitter, which I answered that same day. Then, after a lull in communication, I got another email asking for the same information I'd provided previously. I provided it again and, again, nothing happened. Finally, having wasted over a week with their cumbersome process and these communication difficulties, I emailed again to ask what was going on... only to get an email back saying their only pet sitter in this area was on maternity leave for the next month and that they couldn't help me - something that they should have know days and days earlier. Now I will have to scramble to find some other arrangements, causing a lot of needless stress and anxiety and possibly putting our plans in jeopardy. They did offer some suggestions of other pet sitters in the area to use, but to those reading this - save yourself a lot of hassle and headache and just pick someone else. UPDATE: The business has responded below by posting private emails including my email address out of context, but only the last set of emails, ignoring the fact that they seem to have lost the first set, and then accused me of lying. I deeply regret giving them any personal information in the first place and would strongly encourage others not to do so. read more

Four Paws (Bridget) is amazing. At least everyday, sometimes more, we received detailed texts and photos about our feline family, Silcata tortoise and a pond full of water turtles and fish. We feel very confident leaving her in charge of our little family. We needed twice a day visits which was no problem for her. We will definitely use her again without hesitation. We went on a 14 day vacation in November, 2019 and had 4 Paws take care of our 2 young cats who are 1.5 years old. They did an EXCELLENT JOB!!! I could not have been happier (and I am picky). I arranged for them to come to our house 2x a day to feed, clean box, and play a bit. I also was glad to have them come 1x in afternoon each day to feed, play and clean box for 1 hour. They send us a photo of each cat via text at each visit daily. So fun!! 4 Paws got our mail, took in packages, took out trash, took trash/recycle to curb and back once a week, and kept house clean, even put dirty food bowls in dishwasher which I requested. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!! The cat sitters were glad I wrote everything out for them to do in detailed instructions and printed it out and left it at home for them to read. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 4 PAWS!! (I am not paid to say these things. I want them to stay in business. We just moved here and will be needing them again sometime. Use them and relax when you are away.) I signed up for service with these folks, and found them to be somewhat unorganized. Evidently the person who arranges the meet-and-greets was out for several days, with no backups or coverage. When the meet-and-greet eventually happened, I thought the caregivers seemed very diligent and detail-oriented. And the service itself was fine. But when it was completed, I found that i was charged a whopping $260 for six hours' care. None of their rates were shared with me ahead of time, and -- shame on me -- I should have asked. But this is equivalent to what I would have paid in Boston for four overnights - so I thought in good conscience, they should have shared the costs ahead of time with me. When i tried to dispute this charge, they refunded a portion of it, but the remaining charge exceeds $200 for 6 hours. Buyer beware -- check the rates for their service and get a confirmation in writing ahead of time! read more

I love my cat Corky so much that it's hard for me to leave him to go on out of town trips like a normal human. Since I hired Four Paws to take care of my boy while I'm away, it's gotten easier for me to travel without constantly stressing over him. Our pet sitter Tracy is a total pro! She takes such good care of Corky and provides me detailed updates at each visit-she even includes a photo of him so I can see he's happy. we have used 4paws many times in the past. They are very good at what they do but a bit pricey. We were going to a family reunion and were going to be gone for a week. 4 paws cost us double for what we paid for our week at the beach. Yes we have many pets but when my wife told me the cost of the pet sitter my jaw dropped. We shopped and found a pet sitter at a fraction of the cost. The service is expensive for what you are actually getting. The you are also required to purchase a scannable card which boasts real time updates and pictures during the pet sitters visits. You will then find out that the card serves no purpose. There are codes labeled on it, SCAN IN and SCAN OUT but you will not be receiving that information. Confused about this, I was told " the card was only there to provide you with updates". What they will send you something called a virtual imprint which is basically a generic check off list (where the sitter indicates the tasks that were completed,) a brief message from the sitter, and one picture of your pet (if any at all)..Of course I had much higher expectations considering all of the wonderful reviews. So when I did not hear from Four Paws AT ALL during my last visit I got very concerned about my dogs wellfare and I had to contact the sitter myself and a half hour later and she told me that "she had been there but her battery was low and she couldn't scan in". To me, that was irresponsible (no phone charger?) and the very least she could of contacted me after she left my house let me know everything was ok ..UPDATE - This company is no longer owned by Lois Kelly, who was most likely a trustworthy and professional business owner. The people who are currently running this business are completely dishonest and incompetent. I was lied to numerous times about my keys being sent to me in the mail. When I contacted Nadia (new owner) again today there was a man screaming about me like a lunatic in in the background "I hate her!!!" Even worse, I found out they are posting false reviews. While they do a good job with the pets, they charge very high rates. They charge almost the same ($22) for just a quick visit to let the dog out (booked as a dog walk) and a full untimed 3-pet visit ($26) where they feed, water, change litter, walk the dog, etc. This seems like such a ridiculous rate for a 5 min stop by to let a dog out and not what we had initially been led to believe the charge for just a walk was. They also changed who our sitter was and didn't offer to do a new meet and greet so we had to go away and have an unknown person come watch our pets. The new one turned on and then left bathroom and kitchen lights on for the entirety of a week (we saw on our security cam review when we came back) which wasted a ton of electricity. We also only got an update on the pets the first day, not at all throughout the rest of the week (although she left notes at the house for each day that we could read once we returned) so we weren't really all that thrilled. The positive is that the pets were all happy and seemed to have been taken care of well. As that is their main job, I would say they are a win on that if you are willing to pay the high prices and deal with the not-great communication on their part. read more

We have used Four Paws for several years to look in on our cat while away. Our cat was not the friendliest (this is an understatement!) but the sitters from Four Paws always had nice things to say about her in the very detailed notes they left. We had a planned vacation this summer and scheduled several visits, for which they charged a couple days before the first visit. Unfortunately, our cat became quite sick and I had to stay home to give her meds 2x/day. We notified Four Paws and they credited the payment to our account. Three months later, our cat passed away - and when we notified Four Paws to close our account, they offered to refund the balance. They certainly didn't have to do that, as their policies clearly state that service fees are nonrefundable, but what a lovely gesture during a difficult time. We will absolutely recommend Four Paws to everyone and utilize their services again in the future when we have another four-legged friend. read more
