I cannot say enough good things about this place. Dr. Joy has been absolutely amazing from day 1!…read more I was very reluctant to get my veneers redone mostly because, like many, absolutely hate having my teeth worked on and I wasn't mentally prepared for the process (but let's face it, was never going to be :). The day I walked into Crabtree Valley Dental, I was greeted warmly by everyone and one of the front desk staff even came out and MOVED her car for me because there weren't any parking spots left. At my first appointment, they gave me a questionnaire asking me how I wanted to be communicated with (ex. "just do what you need to do, I don't want to know", "tell me everything", etc.) which I now don't understand why all doctors don't do! I was then formally introduced to every single person I encountered from the tech to the doctor all the way to the billing person. Furthermore, what initially began for mechanical reasons has now turned into an entire transformation of my smile. Every step of the way, each team member I worked with encouraged me to not stop until I was 100% happy, including and mostly Dr. Joy. In the beginning I figured they were just being nice, but they were not. Dr. Joy was so invested in me being absolutely content and confident in my teeth and smile again. Somewhere along the way I decided to also get gum contouring and she personally called the periodontist on more than one occasion to make sure everything went well and I was taken care of. She was also in contact with the prosthetist every step of the way. The last thing I was worried about (and then I'll stop rambling) was the temporaries looking funny while the veneers were made. I was apprehensive about sharing photos yet because these are just the temps and I chipped one by accident, but attached is a before and after! I didn't have a great before pic, but the difference is amazing. If you're in need of any dental work, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Joy at Crabtree Valley Dental.

I can never get through over the phone and give emailed 4 times now with an inquiry and no response. The last time I was there I waited half a hour after my appointment time for them to finally tell me they were backed up because someone had called out sick. My mom has had an equally terrible experience with their office staff texting her sensitive medical information. I'm bummed to switch my dentist because the doctors here are so great, but dealing with this office is a nightmare.

TBH I'm a bit hard to please when it comes to selecting a dentist. When I lived in Charlotte my…read moredentist absolutely spoiled me rotten (Pearl Dentistry) with free in office whitening and state of the art equipment. I am 100% confident that this dentist office is the nicest and most professional in the RDU area. (I did hours of research) Here's Why, explained with a list of pros and cons: Pros: -YOU CAN SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT ONLINE. I scheduled a new patient appointment online, at 3:00AM with ease. Don't judge, these are the type of things I think about when I have insomnia. -The Office is both sterile & stunning. They are taking every precaution when it comes to COVID-19. This is extremely important considering the mouth is what spreads Covid. There is an air filter in every examination room that captures dental aerosols, and I think this is just awesome. It's modern and chic! You can tell that they care a great deal about their image. -The examination rooms have the latest and greatest state of the art equipment. It's obvious Dr. Russo spared no expense on tools, X-rays, camera's, and software. It brings you a sense of ease knowing you're getting the best of the best. -My dental hygienist (Courtney) was lovely. Skilled, sweet, and knowledgeable with a great bedside manner. I have a lower retainer from having braces and it's a pain to work around, but she made the whole process seem effortless and pain free. Also my teeth are shiny **Grins** CONS: -My teeth are not perfect, but I have been going to the dentist every 6 months since childhood, I use the most expensive toothbrush on the market and I floss regularly. My prior dentist has not suggested any additional dental work in 7ish years. During my last exam I was given the thumbs up and told that everything looked great. I am not questioning Dr. Russo's expertise as I am not a professional & he clearly is, but it's concerning that he is recommending TWO crowns on my back molars when there was no mention of this by prior dentist. This is a concern that other patients have shared in their reviews as well. I AM going to entertain his suggestion, but I'm not in a super hurry to schedule that appointment as I can tell it's not urgent. -I love that there's a giant tv hovering above me with NETFLIX, but you cannot hear it. Headphones would be awesome! And would also distract patients from the drilling. -The "goody bags" were a little sad. Just 1 toothpaste option, toothbrush, floss and cheap lip balm. This is definitely not a huge deal (again I'm spoiled). This place is very expensive and some customer appreciation would be really nice. Choosing this dental office is going to cost you a pretty penny, but you get what you pay for and it will be well worth the investment. I will be back!

I came to them as a new patient and to be honest that was my first and perhaps the last visit…read more First thing I asked them about insurance if they are in-network, they told me they accept insurance, but didn't tell me that they are not in network, which is kind of a lie. Second thing is their treatment plan. I know my teeth are not perfect, but I've been living with them my whole life and know what problems with them are. They created a plan for treatment with an estimate of more than $15,000, they included everything which didn't even bother me, and they didn't even ask me can I afford such money. They didn't ask me to prioritize it, it seemed like they just insisted on what they came up with. This is what's called the opposite to customer oriented business. Sorry, but I do not recommend this dentistry.

I saw the negative reviews of this dentist but decided to go anyway. First, because it's very close…read moreto where I live. Second, because I was on a time crunch and they offer same day appointments. I unfortunately cracked my molar and needed to be seen ASAP due to my insurance being up at the end of the month. I called at 9am and got an appointment for that same day in the afternoon. The initial appointment was long (1.5-2hrs) because of x-rays, pictures, cleaning, and consult but they have much better technology than any dentists I've been to and I was actually able to see my teeth up close. Alexis was great through this first appointment. I needed a root canal and crown due to how I cracked my tooth. They were able to schedule me the next day for the procedure and worked with me on pricing. I was also able to use care credit with no interest for 12 months, which helped since it was a pricier procedure and my insurance didn't cover it all. The root canal itself went about as well as I thought it would. It wasn't pleasant but I opted for the nitrous (laughing gas) sedation method which helped. Dr. Hyer and the assistants did a great job with making sure I was comfortable during the procedure. I haven't had any issues with my temporary crown and the pain decreased significantly after only a few days. Their aftercare instructions helped a lot. Overall, i'm happy with the care I received and the staff.

Today's visit was very different from my previous experiences, Dentist Chris was not as pleasant…read moreafter I came in with the same concerns I have expressed for months, and just have been given the round around, and situation band-aided prior to Chris walking in I was told it wasn't listed, which frustrated me and only to be turned around and told that this was a not a "new complaint." I was saying this and Chris got upset, and I was trying to be clear about my care today because of the back and forth. I had been given phone numbers to text with concerns to no avail. It was never my intention to debate my care, but I did feel the need to advocate for myself and ask questions about my treatment plan. Unfortunately, once I began questioning my care, Dentist Chris Martin's response felt dismissive and sarcastic, which caused me to lose confidence in a provider I once trusted. After I stated that I no longer felt comfortable proceeding with treatment that day, Dr\. Martin removed his mask and gloves and said, "Get her a referral to Chapel Hill." I left without a clear plan of care or any meaningful discussion of other treatment options. As a Black woman advocating for the proper care of my teeth, I should be able to ask questions and express concerns without feeling as though I am being difficult for doing so. Being in medicine over 20 years, i believe patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and confident in their care. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek dental care elsewhere. Extremely disappointed is an understatement.
