    Mushroom Swiss burger and tots

Tonight was my first time coming here, I had a decent time. I wasn't a fan of their menu prices, or the canned mushrooms on my burger. The chicken strips tasted fishery, fries were definitely from the freezer, and the drinks were lightly poured. Women's bathroom smelled awful, but it was clean? Other than that the service was friendly and the ally was clean.

    Some of the lanes!

The staff here isn't very friendly. They misquoted us a price on bowling, and we're very rude about the correction.

We are the kind of family that doesn't celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year it happened to fall…read moreon a Saturday so we still needed to find something to do with our 3 year old. Typically we would just drive into portland if we needed something to do but we wanted to stay closer to home. We decided to try out this bowling alley. We definitely didn't expect much. The first thing that we noticed was the strange carpet outside the building. Oh well, it's an old place. For being a holiday the place was pretty busy. We got one of the two open lanes that were not already occupied. It's always nice when they let our little one bowl in her own shoes instead of making her wear shoes that don't fit, so that was a plus. I ordered a pitcher of beer and some mozzeralla sticks. I waited for almost half an hour before having to go up there to see if they were finished yet. They forgot to start them. I was slightly annoyed but when they came out they were delicious and we were having a good time. They asked us if we wanted any marinera sauce, we said yes please! Too bad, we never saw it. We ended up ordering another pitcher of beer and playing another game. We had a great time and they fixed the issues promptly with the equipment (this happens everywhere you bowl). By the end of it my daughter wanted to play some arcade games. None of them were age appropriate except for a little ride on motorcycle. That's okay, she had no idea and loved every minute of it. My boyfriend kept trying to play the prize machine. He put in six dollars and finally landed on the prize. Unfortunately the machine didn't give him his prize. I went to the counter and asked the lady for some help. She was excellent! She couldn't give him his prize and actually gave him all his money back. That was not at all what we expected. She even chatted with us for a few minutes about coming back to have her son in law drill a ball for us. She was very sweet and is why we this place got four stars. We will definitely be back for more family entertainment!

His customer service and desire to make sure our night is enjoyable is his top priority even completely stopping what he is doing to literally sprint to the back of the alley to fix our pins if there is a mechanical error of any sort. He as well as the other staff members treat us great every time and its the reason we choose to continue to bowl there when we are in town. My only caution is to watch out for the owners son, he gets hammered and walks around to try to bet money on games against more inexperienced players claiming he is as well, inexperienced. He is actually pretty good compared to the casual player and needs to grow up and stop trying to hustle paying customers that keep the alley running in the first place. He also loves to brag that he is the owners son the entire time(which really isn't impressive and I believe does nothing but give the alley a bad reputation.) Myself, as well as 3 of my friends had to tell him that we didn't want to bet him on games over 20 times(to be conservative) and Mike, as well as his friends had to literally pull him away. Other then that specific individual I would 10/10 recommend and definitely plan to return.

My son and I had one mission: swing by…read moreGameStop, grab a couple of games, and head home before I somehow got talked into buying another controller we definitely didn't need. We took a different exit through Vancouver Mall, and that's when I spotted a sign that read, "Ice Cream - $1 a scoop." Well... now we're negotiating. One scoop turned into wandering into Round1, and I swear I felt like I accidentally walked into an arcade the size of a small airport. If you're into claw machines, congratulations you've found your homeland. I think they had enough of them to keep a thousand stuffed animals unemployed. Everywhere I looked there were lights flashing, people laughing, prizes dangling just out of reach, and enough games to make my son forget I existed for a while. Then I saw it. The bowling alley. I lit up like a kid who just found out recess got extended. I love bowling, and usually a bowling night means my wallet leaves with a limp. By the time you pay for bowling, shoes, food, drinks, and whatever else mysteriously ends up on the bill, you're wondering if you accidentally financed the lanes. Round1 was different. It's affordable, it's convenient, and it's sitting right inside the mall. That's a dangerous combination... mostly for my free time. The whole place was spotless. The staff was friendly, everything looked modern, and the lighting and giant screens gave it that fun, energetic vibe without feeling over the top. It's not the biggest bowling alley you'll ever see, but honestly, who cares? It's close, it's clean, there's great food just steps away, and after you're done bowling you can lose to your kid in a racing game before watching him dominate a claw machine you swear is rigged. I lived in Vancouver for a while years ago, and now that I'm back, I'm constantly surprised by all the new places popping up. This was one of those surprises that made me smile. I'm not even a huge arcade guy by myself, but with my son? It turned an ordinary shopping trip into one of those afternoons you remember long after the games are over. Some people rate places by comparing them to the biggest and fanciest entertainment centers. I rate them by one simple question: Did I leave happier than when I walked in? The answer here is an easy yes. Round1 isn't just an arcade. It's one of those places where a quick stop somehow turns into, "Wait... we've been here three hours?" Five stars from me. Just don't blame me when you tell your kids you're "just stopping by for a minute" and suddenly you're carrying a giant stuffed banana, holding bowling shoes, and wondering where the afternoon went.

Let's start off with the claw machines, we had a blast (for the most part). The large and medium claws we found we could win before it was time for payout. The mini claws, were just as expensive as the other claw machines, and way harder to win from. As for the arcade section, it was very lackluster. The games were pricey, some didn't work, while others were missing balls or beanbags. It was hard to accumulate enough tickets to get anything substantial from the prize area. The staff we encountered had mixed attitudes. Some were very nice and helpful with resetting the claw machines, while others seemed putout, that they hated working there, and were quite surly. Overall we enjoyed ourselves in the claw area, and would come back just to experience that.

A solid 4. Man alive is it EXPENSIVE to bowl now a days. Oh lord - do I sound OLD AF saying that!!!…read moreHa! My daughter and I went to bowl as part of celebrating her birthday. She and I chose King Pins. Well I technically chose them as the bowling was the least expensive in the area. And for us two, for 90 minutes, it was almost $70. Yes. That's EXPENSIVE. So we made the most of it and had a great time. We played with all the options in the bowling area for games and were silly and had fun. And clearly didn't bowl well lol But despite the price - fun was had. Service is okay at best over by the "Tap house," but at least the option exists to have "table service," while you bowl. This trip was just bowling. No arcade! Still 4 stars.

It was a last minute ask (thank you, dear child *eye roll*) that I was able to book at a preferred time in under a week, and the kids had fun, which is what mattered most! From start to finish, service was spot on: we were met by Coleton who walked us through the logistics & timing, as well as helped with some changes I requested due to attendance, and our server was Paige who made sure the boys never went without beverages. Pizzas came out quickly so the kids were able to eat & bowl, and everything was timed to perfection so they were able to sing to the Birthday Boy and enjoy cake before heading over for some Laser Tag & arcade time to end the festivities. It was also great to have a table reserved in the arcade area for belongings & whatnot, which also allowed some pitchers of beverages for the rest of the time. The space itself was immaculate and staff was buzzing around to keep tables turned over, bowling balls replaced to their rightful homes for future bowlers and the restrooms (at least the ladies!) were also clean (I know that can be a big deal for families, especially with Littles). All in all, I'd say this was money well spent, especially considering everything that is included in the package. For 7 total kids, I think they played 3-4 games of bowling, we did 2 laser tag games & their arcade time, didn't have to set up, break down or clean up party supplies/food, etc -- id do it again in a heartbeat!
