I grew up going to the Oasis as a kid w/my grandparents. It was special to me and my older brother…read more Some of the best times were spent there in the 70's and 80's. I remember the check for four people was barely 15 bucks. The best pizza and burgers on the planet! Yes, its outdated and could use some TLC inside, but we went there for the delicious food, period. As I got older and had a car, I would go there on weekends w/my buddies. Everyone loved the food. The Oasis is the first pizza I've ever had that was square cut. Fast forward to 2024, I live in Largo Fl now and every pizza I order, I order square cut. I wish I had a transporter (star trek), to go to the Oasis on weekends. I miss it a lot. There is one pizza place down here that is pretty close to the Oasis quality. And I fondly remember the Oasis when we go there to eat. Thx-John H

The home of the "famous" Hot Pie since 1918, The Oasis on Harry L Dr. in Johnson City is one of the…read morearea's oldest dining establishments. Not much to look at from the outside, the inside is a nice little space with the bar (complete with giant fish tank) off to the right and some tables and booths up the stairs by the kitchen. I did not care for the blaring music (about four volume levels higher than I would've preferred) which was playing while I was there. I got the ever-famous Hot Pie. Weirdest pizza I've ever had. Had to be cheddar cheese instead of the usual mozzarella. The crust was soft and bready and had an off-putting taste I didn't really like. Now, had I been drunk at the time....I might be telling a different story. But hey, they've been in business for 92 years. For a local dive bar that's a pretty solid run. I don't know if I'll ever go back myself, but I think there's a lot of folks who would really like it there, so I'd imagine come 2102, another 92 years from now, they'll still be cranking out the Hot Pie like they've been doing since Woodrow Wilson occupied the White House.

Tl;dr - alcoholic management/ownership needs to go…read more Small order at the bar type place. Good wings with a lot of flavor. Cold beer. Fair prices. What earned the single star review was the owner on the drinking side of the bar who couldn't handle that we were in there. We(me and my two coworkers) came in to enjoy what meal we could find at 11pm on a Monday night. While my coworkers and myself had a conversation about wings, the many ways they are cooked, flavors, temperatures, and the lot, he stood there with his hand on his face apparently "holding himself back" from contradicting everything we were talking about. When one of the coworkers ended up asking how long the food was gonna take after sitting for about 20 mins after ordering. Instead of casually and kindly informing him that they take a while due to their cooking processes, or even having the staff inform us of this apparently common delay prior to placing the order, he responded like a child with discuss through saying "we can give them to you raw?". While he wasn't incorrect, he lacked tact that you could find nearly anywhere else in the world and with the entitlement of a petty little snowflake. We were fortunate enough that the bartender was able to drown this alcoholic further with his vice quickly enough that he was distracted by the pool table and ended up leaving us alone. It was the interactions with the others that caused him to bellow, boast, and brag that he was the owner of the establishment, otherwise, we just assumed he was the Walmart neighborhood drunk. I travel to this town frequently and I will be avoiding this place. If you are a traveler, I suggest the same.
