Tri County Pump Services are fantastic! I had a leaking water softener, and know very little about plumbing, plus my boyfriend is overseas. I called them on the Friday afternoon of the weekend before Thanksgiving, and they sent out two guys first thing the next morning to stop the leak/bypass the system so I could have water, but no leak. They were super informative, and friendly. We needed a new water softener - and I was again impressed by the level of service from Tri County Pump Service. Firstly, the gentleman who was to install the water softener came out two days before scheduled to ensure that he would be fully prepared to install the system on the Wednesday, and noted that the filter needed cleaning, so informed me he would bring a filter for that as well. On the day of installation, he was early (which was fantastic! so rare in a contractor!), quickly removed the old system and installed the new system. It is the little things that really made me happy - he explained what I needed to do moving forward with the new system: when I should add more salt, when I should change the filter, how often it should be service. He left me one of the empty bags of the salt so I have a reference when I go and buy more bags of salt. This makes life easier for me, as I have never had a house with a water softener before. This company can provide "okay" basic service - but beware of nontransparent pricing- that is high. They snapped the line in my well pump that was hung up. Yes - I knew it might break, you sign off on any and all issues that might happen.... But they should have stopped and handed over to the well drilling company prior to causing irreparable harm in my well. I was left and forced to drill an entirely new well due to the mess. They left behind a proper well company could have done other things to get that well pumped up, but not after it snapped. This has ended up being a $50,000 plus problem. read more

First, the labor part of this was fine. Two guys appeared to know what they were doing and explained everything. The office is the problem. First it was $630, then $750, then my protest they agreed to $630. I had requested an estimate of parts cost, as they quote price plus parts, never got it. I was told "parts at cost". Obviously, they are in the parts business, this became apparent when I got the bill. A 10' pipe cost $6 at Lowes, they charge by the foot $16.45 = $65.80 for 4 ft of pipe. A cpv 3/4 " valve cost $5.50 at Lowes = $28.95 on the bill. A pvc p-trap cost $14 at Lowes = $48. The list goes on for 24 items. You draw your own conclusion. My advice, if they can't supply a total cost GO ELSEWHERE! I have no problem with a business making money, but I feel like I've been raped. read more

We called this company because our water system had a relay that was making a loud clicking sound. They sent out a technician that told us that the relay was bad and that it was going to cost $817 to replace it. We said okay and paid and he changed the part. The next day the same exact thing happened so we called them back and told them it was still happening. So two or three days later they sent out another technician but this was a different guy. He tells us that it wasn't the relay it was the switch on the water pressure tank that was the problem and he could change that electrical part for $350. Now a relay and a switch are pretty much the same type of electrical part that both cost around the same price because I checked. So I'm writing this review to warn the public about this company and what they are willing to allow to happen to their customers. So my father calls their office the day after the second technician left and explains the whole situation to the woman who answered the phone. She told him that she would contact the owner and that he would call him back two or three days go by and they call back not to tell my father that he was overcharged $400 and some dollars by the first technician and that they would refund him that money but to tell him that "well, we can come out and fix the switch for $350, It probably broke after we fixed the relay". Used to be good but now it seems to be more like a cash grab. Had used them years ago but read reviews from last 3-4 years that they were price gouging and a bit shady, so I got two other bids. They wanted over $7k for new pressure tank, and the two other bids came in under $4500. Definitely recommend going elsewhere. read more

They gave me 2 hours service window and two guys arrived 41 minutes late after the window without an explanation and apology. One guy came to the house to take water sample and we did not see the second guy going to the well at all. He sat in the car all the time. Two guys left after 20 minutes of work. I was very upset about their being too late about their appointment and their attitude about their work showed unreliability. read more

We first used them for a repair, which was completed quickly and very professionally. The price was fair, so when our well stoped working we called them for the pump replacement. The crew was great and did it quickly on one of the hottest days of the year. My only warning is that they doubled the price of the well pump. I understand they should mark it up so that they can keep the parts in stock and on the trucks, but a 100% or more markup on the pump was a shocker. read more

They installed my water softener. Then on a routine yearly inspection that took less than an hour charged me 120$ for a service call, then another 170$ for Labor rate. I was very disappointed in that since i got no estimate from them prior plus what is the service call for? Shouldn't that include labor. Also, the meaning of labor is being stretched here. The tech didn't even use one tool! He just pushed a couple buttons, lol. Buyer beware on this company. They certainly value their bottom line more than providing value to a customer. read more

Had a rusted and cracked well casing that needed replaced. Responded quickly and replaced/repaired same. Had water analysis done and discovered our water is contaminated. Working now with Tri-County Pumps to correct that issue. Technicians Raymond and Jake were the guys whom I had the pleasure to work with. Both knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend you be very careful. I used this company in the past, but something has changed. My well pump kept tripping the circuit breaker. They came out and recommended a $4500 well pump replacement and would not consider that it might be a bad circuit breaker. So I paid the $130 service call, and then put a new circuit breaker in myself, and that fixed the problem. Then I called around and found the going rate for a new well pump and installation was 2400 and 2800 dollars. I called the company to inform them and suggested they not cash my $130 check, but they did anyway. Beware. read more

I began my search for a well company over a month ago contacting them on 1/25/21. This is what i received back: "Hello, Thank you for contacting us! Someone will respond to you very soon about your inquiry. We appreciate your interest and look forward to speaking with you! Best regards, Tri-County Pump Service, Inc." I then received on the 1/26/21 from Bretta Snyder the first of many emails telling me of how they would like to help me. "Good morning, Thank you for your email. A message was left on your voicemail this morning. We would like to stop by one day during regular business hours and see what you would like to have done at yours and your parents property. We will then provide an estimate for the services you would like to have happen and once you are ready to move forward, we can provide a contract will require a credit card on hold and a third down and payment in full at the time of service. We greatly appreciate your business and look forward to speaking with you. Keep it flowing" Bretta Snyder We arranged for an estimate but due to snow and bad weather ti kept getting pushed back but we finally agreed to a time that would work for us both. I was sent paperwork 1/26/21 that would be used to estimate the work. and was told they appreciate my business. With the snow, cold weather and such the estimator arrived on 2/5/21 and we walked the grounds. I was think in was pretty quick, heck they even have a $100.00 off coupon featured at Mountain View Dinner on their place mats. I sent them a detailed list of everything that was already in place and what we needed from them so there were no surprises. However the surprise was on me as the gentleman that showed up Daniel Barnette did his due diligence on the walk around but after he left I only had the memory of his truck taillights as he left the driveway, never to call, text, email or send a drone to us with an estimate. I called them at least once a week and then sent an email 2/9/21, 2/16/21, 2/22/21, 2/25/21 and finally on 2/26/21 trying to get an estimate and/or Daniels cell number. I heard nothing and all communication stopped via email and no one stopped by or sent anything to me. If they didn't want to do the work they should have been up front and said so. They never made mention of any related issues or concerns and I even explained my allocation of funds available in cash to pay for the work. I finally gave up due to complete frustration of the poorest customer service experience I've had in a very long time. I can't recommend them for anything as they did nothing. Perhaps they had a bad two months. Bretta earned the one star rating as she was the only line of communication until she too tired of hearing from me in regards to the lack of Daniel getting back with me. Here is Bretta's last communication and I went with a family friend of my sister who showed up and did the work in "Good afternoon, Unfortunately, I have not been working on your estimate so I'm unsure of where we are with your quote. I have forwarded all emails to Daniel who was at the site for the estimate. His email is danielbarnette@tricountypumps.com. I have already forwarded this message to him and I'm sure your one of several he is working on. Had Mike come out last year after we were quoted $5000 for a water system from Culligan. He tested our water and said he could get us a system that would take care of our issues for $3000. I guess you get what you pay for. We had it installed in February of 2022. By summer we hadn't noticed any difference. There were still stain marks in the toilet bowls. I called back and they sent someone out to check what the problem could be. He was here 30 minutes and charged us over $300 for the visit. Simply told us we would need every six months instead of annual maintenance. So they expect us to pay over $300 every six months to maintain equipment that we just paid $3000 for. When I called to schedule another appointment because the uv light alarm went off I told them we were still having the same issues. I asked if someone could come out and test our water again to make sure the system was working like it should before I had them do another maintenance visit. After speaking with someone on Friday I was told she would talk with Mike and get him scheduled to come back out. She told me I should hear something back either that day or by Monday. By Tuesday afternoon I still hadn't heard anything so I called back. I spoke with a young woman who was trying to get me scheduled to have Mike come back out to check the water. I asked if he was able to change the uv light while he was here because I wasn't sure how long it would be good since the alarm went off. She put me on hold while she asked her supervisor I assume. The supervisor or manager not sure who she was got on the phone with such a terrible attitude with me. She said I'm not sure what the issue here is we had someone who could have come out to do maintenance last week. When I told her I had spoken with someone on Friday already and hadn't heard back she acted like I was lying about speaking with someone. I'm not sure what benefit that would be to me. I told her we spent $3000 on equipment that we were told would fix our water issues and now we're having to spend $300 every six months for maintenance and we are still having the same problems. I simply wanted someone to retest our water and she spoke to me with so much disrespect. I called Negleys and their prices are so much more reasonable and they were so nice. I'm hoping they can do something to fix our issues otherwise we gave $3000 to Tri County for nothing. I would absolutely not recommend them. Especially if you want to be treated with respect because they definitely do not do that. read more

Excellent work and the guys were very knowledgeable so there's no guessing if the work will solve the issue. We discussed the problems, and they tested a few possible causes for our issue with our water pressure. Kenny and Thomas were spot on diagnosing and fixing the issue we had with our (very) old pump, and even talked me into saving money on the replacement vs. repairs so I was more than happy with the service and the knowledge gained. DO NOT USE Tri County - I've had shady dealings two times and I'm through. I called Tri County to do a septic pump-out. The lady on the phone quoted me a price that sounded reasonable. When the driver arrived, I discussed the system with him. He said there was a filter between the settling and pump tanks that would need to be cleaned - $40 if they did it, or he said I could simply spray it out with a hose. I told him I would do it. He pulled the filter out and told me the part was no good because there was a gasket missing and it would have to be replaced for $60, but I could order it online and he showed me what to look for (very helpful, right?). After the tanks were pumped, he told his assistant to spray out the filter. I told the assistant not to, because I planned to replace the broken part as instructed. When the driver gave me the bill I [stupidly] signed and gave him my credit card; I was working from home that day and distracted. After they left, I saw a $40 filter-cleaning charge on the invoice! I called the driver and he said that he had told the assistant to spray out the filter, and I informed him that I told him not to do it; the assistant agreed and the driver said, "oh crap. I'll call the office and have them straighten it out for you." The office lady called me and I explained the situation. She stated that the driver would NEVER leave a job that way, and that he was a state-certified inspector and always did a professional job! I informed her that I had confirmed with the driver that the assistant had not performed the filter cleaning on my BROKEN FILTER (which would have taken 2 minutes - for $40 - what a joke in itself!). She still denied that he had left it that way and she told me that I would have to go out and UNCOVER MY OWN SEPTIC TANK AND SEND HER PICTURES FOR PROOF!! I said "you want me to get S#!T on my hands so you'll believe me, and you won't take my word for it?!" She explained that I could use a wire coat hanger to avoid getting my own feces on my fingers (it worked great, by the way). So I go out to the tank, pry off the 100-pound lid, use a wire to lift out the STILL DIRTY filter and take pictures of it, all the while avoiding dropping my phone into the tank, because that would have been icing on the [chocolate] cake. I send her the pics. No response. Later, I call the driver, who said he was coming out in the evening to replace the filter. He comes out in his personal vehicle with a USED FILTER and swaps it out with the old one. Not bad for $40. Oh, and I forgot to say that when they left from the pump-out they dripped black sewage on my flagstone walk and I had to clean it up myself. Nice! At the beginning of the review, I said I've had shady dealings twice. In 2016, they came out, drove over my flagstone walk (the one they would later spill sewage on) with the pump truck, and cracked two pieces. When I called to pay the bill, they said they had lost the invoice and they would call me. I called back a month later and they still could not find it for me to pay. Another month later, the same lovely lady in the story above called me back demanding that I pay the bill!! So the moral of the story is that if you want to get ripped off, insulted, have your word questioned, and do extra work yourself after the job, Tri County is the way to go! read more

Buyer Beware! I was given a quote, of under $600, for a new well to be shocked and the water tested. Upon arriving rep assured us many wells don't need to be shocked (country requires 2 consecutive bacteria free test) and he recommended we test first. So, they tested 2x. 1st was good, and mysteriously the 2nd one wasn't. They shocked the well by having a rep come out, open the well cap & pour solution down the well [no further flushing at all]. They charged $335 for that service. We could have poured Clorox down the well ourselves. Then to make matters worse, the samples they took were sent to Fredericktowne Labs [whom I could have gone directly thru & wish I had]. So, all-in-all, we paid almost $1500 for services that we could have done ourselves and spent 1/3 that amount . Office personnel says one thing and field rep (aka up-sell salesperson) said entirely different thing. I'll admit we should have known better, but we had so much going on trying to build our home that we trusted them. Don't make the same mistake we did. read more

They came and gave me a quote for the installation of the water treatment system (that I already owned) and for the new pressure tank. They came and gave a free estimate. Their prices were exactly what I was looking for in terms of cost. When they arrived to do the install, they were really professional and clean. I had to replace my pressure tank. It lasted since it was installed in the early 90s. The pressure tank was above the water heater, so it was not an easy task. However, it took two men to remove the 32 GAL tank and to also set the new one up above the water heater. I will say, these men were pros. They were knowledgeable and very customer friendly, which I particularly liked most. Their expertise on with the electrical and plumbing work was just simply phenomenal. We recently bought our first home in Jefferson Maryland and are dealing with some of the new homeownership woes. Our neighbor recommended Tri County Pump for our water/septic issues. We've had very low, pulsing water pressure and hard water and high Ph in our water. Kevin came out and recommended water softener, water neutralizer, and water pump to help resolve our problems after his inspection and confirmation of the root cause of our issues. We received a very professional quote printed on site that was valid for 6 months. We did a similar quote with Calligans and their quote was almost twice as much as TriState. We scheduled our appointment to have our water issues solved. Brian came to install and after having the best shower since we've moved in, I can't recommend them enough. Update: We have since used TriCounty Pumps for our septic service, sump pump service, and for my parents sump pump as well. Fantastic service, punctual always, and reasonable pricing. read more

I work abroad and my wife and kids were at home when suddenly the water stopped working. We didn't know what to do or who to call. My wife tried talking to electricians and plumbers but none of them could fix it and said it was a well pump issue and they couldn't help. We are new home owners and not familiar with these things so my family went without water for almost 2 weeks until... I randomly Googled "well pump companies" and saw that "Tri County Pumps" had amazing reviews so I called them. They were the kindest and most understanding company I've ever worked with. They got there exactly when needed and fix everything and had qualified electricians and plumbers onsite while fixing our pump and did everything step by step with us so we could understand. Their entire staff from owners to admin to on-the-job workers were beyond amazing to work with and they made it so easy. Even from 1,000's of miles away. I wish I could give them more stars. If it were possible to leave negative stars for this review I would. This company cares nothing for their customers. They're only concern is payment. They sold us over-priced parts and equipment we didn't need and did a poor job on our well repair. Their actions forced us to purchase an entirely new water filtration system because their actions caused such an overload of sediment to be released (and yes it was costly). We had to have a different plumbing company fix their mistakes and when my husband tried to explain the situation and the resulting problems, their representative refused to listen and hung up. ANY plumber or plumbing business you choose would be an improvement over this one. They are unethical, unscrupulous and rude. Don't reward them with your business! read more

Our water stopped running last night at 10:30. There was a sticker on our pressure tank for this business, with their phone numbers. We called, thinking we would have to leave a message and wait for them to get back to us in the morning. To our surprise, a technician answered, and arranged for an appointment the following morning. He said they would call early in the morning to give us an exact time, but approximated they would arrive between 8:30 and 9:00. We received a call at 7:00 this morning with the information that they would arrive between 9-9:30. They called to tell us they were on their way and arrived on time. They were professionally dressed, courteous, and quick in installing our new pressure tank. They explained everything throughout the procedure so we understood what was going on. If you're looking for a reputable plumbing service, look elsewhere. Tricounty pump was my go-to for the last 20 years but no more. NEVER AGAIN. My tale starts with calling them to service my water softener. 1st off, my bad - should have asked the price before they came out. Service fee: $250 (just to come out - oh, they were 4 hours after their estimated time of arrival) Technicial fee: $125 hr That's 475 just to appear at my house....4 hours late.... Materials? Oh, those were under $50. Total bill was over 550. OK, as I stated, my bad. Now, today, 7/25/17, I called with an issue I'm having with my hot water heater. THIS water heater was installed 12/27/11 by Tricounty. It replaced another water heater that had been installed just six years earlier by Tricounty in sept 2005. Seems like 6 years is the magic number with them.... So, in chatting with them, I find that the writing on my latest invoice that shows 'hot water heater has a 6 year warranty' is only for the tank. No element replaced. No thermostat checks - well, of course, you can get all that for another $450 to come out. Used to be a very trusted service. Not any longer. Head to Home Depot where they stand behind their merchandise Also, Bill (whom I spoke with) told me that 'it's typical for a hot water heater to last 6 years depending on the water coming in the house.' Not falling for that - first off, THEY have treated the water softener every year! They're the ones who were responsible for the water coming in the house! Steer clear. Steer very clear. Update: I just called A&B Luck. Their service fee (to come to the house) is $65 instead of $250. Now, that's a pretty big difference. Why does Tricounty cost so much just to appear? No clue. Robbery.... Update 7/26/17: A&B Luck just came out to check the water heater. Cost me $95 total. AND, while downstairs, the technician saw that the water softener was UNPLUGGED. I ask tri county pump to Do a well and septic inspection on a house I was buying, I just had another company tell me my well casing is rusted through and needs repair, I spent 1750 dollars to get it inspected with tri county 3 months ago , complete waste! First was a missing water sample, then an incomplete septic report (followed by a rushed, substandard update) and now a missing well inspection report (somehow you cashed the check, though...lucky for us I kept my hard copy). First time was in the dead of winter, freezing cold, frozen, ground, nasty conditions to be working outside.
