Alright, before you read this let me say I totally understand and agree that you normally would not…read moreassociate a dental procedure to a pleasant experience but hear me out on this. I had been having a tooth ache for months and my regular dentist (who is fantastic- Dr. Robin Su) told me that I more than likely needed a root canal as my tooth had been cracked and it was not going to improve. Without boring you with the details, Dr. Robin referred me to Upland Endodontix. So throughout my life, all I've heard was that root canals are terrible and literally everyone had nothing but negative things to say about them. I mean people have even said "I'd rather have my appendix removed before having a root canal". Well, needless to say I was not overly excited about this and even contemplated just living with the pain. Well, fast forward. I walk into the office and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff. Ashley and Alexis handled all the paperwork and were very friendly and professional. After only a few moments, I was brought back where I met Al, who took care of me the entire time. He was very helpful and explained everything in detail. Dr. Vu was also very professional and completed the process in about 30 minutes. Seriously, a root canal in 30 minutes. Now let me tell you I hate needles. I mean Ive had several big surgeries and before this, I would have put this right up at the top- total sissy. But as for the process, I could not have been more wrong. When I say this entire process was nothing worse than having a normal cavity filling, that's how I would describe it. Sure it's more in depth but the way they handled was very straight forward- you get a few shots, they cover your face, and do some drilling and filling. Anyways, this review is already too long but I had such a positive experience I felt compelled to pass along. The entire staff was top notch and if I could give them 10 Stars I would. I absolutely, without a doubt, highly recommend Upland Endodontix.

The first one was a horrible experience. It took three visits, and all were excruciating. The next two root canals were much better, but that dentist has retired. So as I entered the RC Endodontics office, I was pretty scared. I cannot fully express how wonderful everyone was there. Evelyn, at the front desk, welcomed me and went over the paperwork including the charges. She was friendly, honest, and did not rush. It gave me an immediate feeling of confidence that this was going to be as painless a process as it could be under the circumstances. The wait was not long. Dr. Parmar and her assistant Lexi ushered me into the room where the procedure was to take place. They both were incredibly kind and did everything in their power to make me comfortable before even beginning their work. Dr. Parma explained everything to me, using the giant TV in the room to display my X-rays. No shots are fun, but the novocaine injections were not horrible, and they were the last pain I felt. Lexi held my hand. Dr. Parmar kept checking to see if I was OK, and even made me laugh. They both gave me sips of fruit juice. From start to finish took about two hours. Eight hours later, I am still in no pain. I have never had a medical experience in which I felt so nurtured and cared for. Dr. Parmar, Lexi, Evelyn and another receptionist whose name I didn't get are absolutely wonderful. I can't praise them highly enough. Oh, and did I mention that the rooms have giant TVs?

Please be aware that this office charged me over $100 for a consultation fee without informing me about the fee before the appointment. As a courtesy to patients, I strongly believe the office should disclose the consultation fee beforehand so patients have the opportunity to understand and agree to the charge before receiving the service.

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received at Barosum Dental in Upland. My experience…read moreleft me feeling unheard, misdiagnosed, and ultimately traumatized. While I was out of town on July 12, 2026, I developed severe pain on the lower right side of my mouth. As soon as I returned, I scheduled an emergency appointment for July 15. I also had a previously scheduled deep cleaning appointment for July 16. During my emergency visit, the female dentist appeared to minimize my concerns. Instead of focusing on the area where I was experiencing pain, she asked whether I had seen an endodontist for a referral from a year earlier and questioned a shadow in my gums that had existed for over 30 years on the opposite side of my mouth. I requested X-rays, and a 360-degree scan was performed. After reviewing the images, she told me everything looked fine, that I had no cavities, gave me Sensodyne toothpaste for tooth sensitivity, and said I was cleared to proceed with my deep cleaning the following day. Later that same day, the office coordinator called and told me they wanted me to see the endodontist before my cleaning. I went to the appointment, and within five minutes the endodontist identified a cavity. My primary dentist confirmed the finding and recommended that my wisdom tooth be extracted. I was extremely upset that my condition had been missed during my emergency visit. I asked to speak with the female dentist who had evaluated me, but she was unavailable. I scheduled the extraction for July 17, 2026. Because I had previously had a successful experience using nitrous oxide during another tooth extraction, I requested it again to help manage my anxiety. I was numbed for the procedure and was told I was receiving nitrous oxide, but I never felt its effects. I noticed the dental assistant was on the phone for much of the procedure, and it appeared that no one ensured the nasal cannula was properly positioned. I informed both the oral surgeon and the assistant that I did not feel like I was receiving the nitrous oxide, but my concerns were dismissed. I remained anxious throughout the procedure, and the extraction was ultimately unsuccessful. I left the office emotional, traumatized, and deeply disappointed. This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. As healthcare providers, listening to patients is essential. I repeatedly expressed my concerns and felt they were ignored every step of the way. I will not be returning to this office. I also plan to verify that my insurance was not billed for procedures that were not completed, including the deep cleaning and the unsuccessful tooth extraction. I hope this review encourages the office to improve communication, patient care, and attention to patient concerns so that others do not have a similar experience.

Not in Delta Dental network and purposefully hid that fact as long as he could…read more TL,DR: Dr. Hockin is purposefully trying to scam people into letting him do their dental work despite knowing it's going to cost them an exorbitant amount because he's hiding the fact that he's not in-network. Not sure if he's in any other insurance network, but even if he isn't, he will 100% not tell you that. My dentist referred me here for a root canal. Apparently they used to be in-network until about 3 months ago, but aren't anymore. My dentist was unaware of this. When I called to make the appointment, they asked for my insurance provider, member ID, Group #, all of that and never said anything about being out of network. When I got there they did another x-ray, even though my dentist sent over the x-rays he just took earlier this week, and did a quick, 2min exam. They then tried to have me sign something else and said they were gonna start the procedure but I asked for an estimate of my co-pay first. Literally every other dentist I've ever been to has always provided me with an estimate before doing any work and I found it shady that these folks didn't. The nurse seemed anxious when I asked for it but she went and put one together. The estimate FOR MY PORTION / CO-PAY was over $800 for JUST the root canal since my dentist was gonna do the post and crown himself next week. My dentist's receptionist had looked it up for me when I was there earlier this week and told me my co-pay for the specialist would probably be around $40-$60 because I opted for the best dental insurance my employer offers. When I questioned the unexpectedly high cost, only then did she admit to me that it's because they're not in-network for Delta. I let her know that there was no way I was having the work done there when it would be less than 1/10th of the price at an in-network Endodontist and she completely understood. As I was leaving I asked her what the charge would be for what little they did today and she told me it would be $170. For comparison, my dentist did multiple x-rays (rather than just the ONE the endodontist's office did) and a much longer exam and the whole visit was covered by insurance, zero co-pay. At this point, it became clear that that's why he had her do that single x-ray despite the multiple angles that my dentist had sent him. He was trying to milk the appointment for all he could. Of course, I disputed that amount on the grounds that I wouldn't even have set foot in his office had they not hidden the fact that they were out-of-network. She went and talked to the dentist, came back, and said they'd be waiving the charges. I have no input as to how good or bad his actual work is since I didn't really allow him to work on me. All I know is that I'm down 3hrs of PTO at work for nothing, and am going to have to suffer at least an extra 3 days, since it's currently Thursday afternoon, with this tooth ache while I find and make an appointment with an in-network endodontist. Had they told me on Tuesday when I called to make the appointment that they weren't in-network, I might have been able to book an appointment at that time to have the work done this week by someone in-network. Regardless of how good or bad his actual dental work may be, Dr. Hockin is just a terrible person.
