Located on the first floor of the Lodge at Columbia Point - right off the lobby and facing the…read moreparking lot - with an understated and "ahhh..."-some relaxing vibe this is a good place to start, finish or be your evening. In the three nights we were guests at the Lodge we visited Vine every night. That was a result of the friendly welcome the bartender, Paige, gave us on the evening of our arrival plus the fantastic cocktails she mixed that we took out to sip in front of the fire in the Lodge's "living room" while we waited on our reservations for dinner at Drumheller's upstairs. On the second night we stopped in Vine to get glasses of wine to enjoy in our room after a long day of exploring the area and dinner out. And on the third evening it felt like 'coming home' to enjoy Vine for a couple of delicious cocktails along with good eats from a small bar-plates menu to share as dinner with Dustin providing great service to take orders and deliver the food as prepared by Drumheller's upstairs. (As "PS", the Drumheller's full dinner menu can also be used in the Vine bar.) When we were tallying up "favorite things" from the trip, both my husband and I had Vine on the top-5 list. (The others? Tasting at Kiona winery when founder John Williams popped in and we had a chance to say "thank you, sir" to this now octogenarian who put Red Hills AVA on the map, the hospitality of all the Lodge staff, walking the paved river trail accessed right outside the lodge back patio, and our 'welcome to town' lunch at Dovetail Joint.) Paige's hospitality and mixology skills made us fans of Vine but also the overall "exhale" ambiance. Nicely bright in early evening from big glass doors at front, dimly lit at night but not dark, standard height tables that work for everyone (including me as I have MS and cannot boost myself onto high stools) with plenty of 'elbow room' around them as well as seats at the bar for people who choose to sit there - like the nice guy we met on our first night who said he comes to Vine when in town on business to enjoy wine from the interesting by glass selection. It looks like they have table seating on a small outdoor patio in front - right off the parking lot - in warm weather months. This is not the frantic, sardine-can-tight, booming sound, high-density high stool tables of other venues of which there are many in the area. This is the harder to find gem of "all are welcome here" setting to take a breath and have conversations with your companions - as some were - or be comfortable as a solo guest working on something as you sip and dine - as we noted others were on all nights. In addition to serving Vine customers, Paige is pouring wine and mixing cocktails for the guests dining at Drumheller's upstairs as servers send down orders and them down to Vine to pick them up to take them back...so she is making it look pretty effortless to handle the dining room too that "Vine alone" guests don't necessarily know are also being served via this bar. PRODUCT: Great craft cocktails for standards or from a specialty menu. An array of spirits that include some from NW distilleries that are likely new to you and about which Paige knows a lot. I note in some Drumheller reviews folks mentioned disappointment that their fav (inevitably described by them as 'top shelf') liquor wasn't available to use in their fav cocktail. The same happened to me for a gin drink and I let Paige be my guide for the local distiller options and the outcome was luscious. If you're looking for wine, the selection here by glass and bottle is excellent and Paige can answer your questions about them and make recommendations. Ditto for the beer offerings. OPEN TO ALL: If you're not a guest at the hotel, you can still visit and enjoy Vine. But we sure did appreciate it was such a 'short commute' from Vine to our room upstairs as guests of the Lodge. PARKING: Ample amount in private lot. ACCESSIBILITY: Standard height table seating, ample clear floor space, three accessible (and gender neutral) loos right off lobby. HH: Some discount on libations and small plates menu from 4:00 (opening) - 5:30 and again from 9:00 - 10:00. TIP: If the gochujang glazed cauliflower is on the small plates / bar menu when you visit, order that dish. And also try Paige's new and luscious "Cold Brew" cocktail. You're welcome! ;-)

The Vine Fine Dining is located inside Cameo Heights Mansion B&B. Our friends stayed at the B&B and…read moreenjoyed their accommodations, but this review is specifically about the restaurant and the food. Our friends made the reservation, and before going, my wife and I checked the restaurant's website to get an idea of the cost. The website listed the seven-course meal at $89 per person. Our final charge was $109 per person, plus a mandatory 20% gratuity. That discrepancy was frustrating, especially given the quality of the meal. (someone else commented on this in the reviews - maybe it is time to fix the website). Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the steak frites, or "steak frits" as it was written on the menu, and it bore little resemblance to a proper steak frites. The steak was a dry, overcooked cube of meat served on top of fries that looked and tasted similar to frozen store-bought steak fries, along with an unidentified pink sauce. My wife ordered the scallops with lobster ravioli. The scallops were overcooked, and the ravioli appeared to have been previously cooked and then fried or reheated. They were and rubbery rather than fresh and tender. I realize my expectations may be higher because I am accustomed to dining in larger metropolitan areas, but we have had far better meals at several restaurants in Walla Walla. I cannot understand why anyone would make the drive specifically for this restaurant unless they were already staying at the B&B. Even then, I would recommend going into town for dinner. The service was also slow. Our server tried to remain pleasant, but she clearly seemed unhappy or overwhelmed. We were a group of six, and none of us finished our main courses. Despite the amount of uneaten food left on the table, she didn't ask whether everything was satisfactory. The one positive was the pleasant view of the surrounding canyon and landscape. Unfortunately, the scenery was not enough to make up for the poor food, slow service and unexpected pricing. Lastly I do not believe all their positive reviews are organic or they really have gone down hill. Fine dinning this is NOT!

We had a reservation, and they had our table ready the moment we walked in -- comfortable, well-placed, and perfect for conversation. The staff here deserves a shoutout. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when it came to picking drinks and explaining the menu without rushing us. They gave us that perfect balance of attention and space. First up: the chicken tortilla soup. This thing was flavorful, comforting, and packed with that slow-cooked, homemade taste. Honestly, it was delicious as-is, but a couple slices of avocado would seriously take it to the next level. Still -- a great start. Now the paella... WOW. A good size portion, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly -- not mushy, not dry -- and honestly better than what I've had at a lot of dedicated Spanish restaurants. The mix of seafood and chicken was generous, the seasoning was bright and warm, and every bite hit exactly how paella should. It was the star of the night. We paired everything with sangrias, and they were fantastic -- refreshing, not overly sweet, and just the right complement to the meal. The berry sangria especially worked ridiculously well with the paella. Overall, Tagaris gave us a solid, memorable dinner. Great service, great food, cozy atmosphere, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. Definitely a place we'll be returning to.

We arrived at peak cherry season the weekend of July 4th. Cherry trees surround the beautiful shared outdoor patio, ripe cherries covered the trees and were falling to the ground. Can one eat too many cherries? What is too many? Did I spoil my dinner? Yes! The Orchard Chalet is the bottom floor of the owners house. It is a 2 bed, 2 bath, living room with reasonably comfortable sleeper sofa, wood pellet stove, dining room & full kitchen. It has been a while since its last remodel, but it is comfortable and perfect for families. Its dedicated, semi-enclosed, outdoor covered patio provides plenty of space to spread out and relax. Our parents and children enjoyed their stay in the Orchard Chalet. We were able to comfortably entertain a couple families that stopped by to say hello. A building behind the main home is split into 2 units, the Sunrise and Santina Chalets. I stayed in the Santina Chalet which is freshly remodeled in a modern styling - highly recommended for couples wanting a romantic getaway! The bathroom has a spacious shower and soaking tub. Its backdoor opens to a deck overlooking the cherry orchard. Look for my pictures. The owners were very friendly, but sadly they were heading out of town so we missed out on the breakfast that others rave about. Will we return? YES!

She and her husband enjoyed the wines, and I went and poured them more than what we normally serve. There is a tradition in the wine industry that you get free tastings at (most) tasting rooms. It's a professional courtesy thing. There is also the trade discount, which is anywhere from 20-35%. Our is 25%. I take pride in my abilities and service. At the end of the tasting, with $60 worth of free wine and the discount, this woman gave me just over $6 in a tip. For over and hour of dedicated attention and professionalism, this was my reward. I'm sure the tasting room is nice and all and the service is great, but based on the owner's lack of grace and kindness I have to wonder how she trains her staff. If you're in the wine trade and looking for recommendations I'd stay well clear. But if Ms. Loscoe is there ask for everything and then leave a worthless tip.

Nice hotel, but lacks amenities. We expect some nice amenities when booking the largest suite on…read morethe property. We usually get a breakfast, sometimes continental, sometimes a full breakfast. For instance, the large suite we booked in Walnut Creek last week included a concierge lounge, which had snacks and drinks all day long. With this booking, all you get is the room, which is a very nice room by the way. Okay, they did give us some certificates for free pancakes in the morning or a free dessert for dinner. I used one once. There is an icebox down the hallway with pre-bagged ice that fills the rooms' ice buckets. Room service is available. The property is located adjacent to the Columbia Point Marina Park, a nice boat landing and beautiful park. A few restaurants are nearby within walking distance. There's a 24-hour Winco just down the street, which is very handy. Our suite included a wet bar, microwave and refrigerator. Two bathrooms was a must for us, which is one of the reasons we booked this room. Even the guest bath has a shower, which is very nice. The bedroom has a sliding door that closes off the living area. The room includes a gas fireplace, which was very nice to have. There's a good sized balcony with a perfect river/park view, two chairs and a table. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Be careful of their Riva restaurant, it's kind of weird. I've never had an untraditional lox bagel sandwich like theirs, and I didn't like it. They also thinly sliced and cooked the ham until it was brown! Whoever heard of brown ham? You might want to ask them how things are prepared before you order. The elevators are as slow as possible; even slower. We had some issues with our room. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was extremely loud, but they were able to fix that upon our request. The toilet seat in the guest bath is almost falling off. No matter what we tried, the main bathroom shower leaked all over the floor and onto the bedroom carpeting. And, the television is full of large white dots all over the place. The front desk said they are already aware of the television issues, and are working on replacing them. You can search YouTube for "Room 233 at the Lodge at Columbia Point" to see my video of the room. The bed was very comfortable, and they gave us nice pillows. The wet bar included paper towels, real dishes and silverware. The couch folds out to a bed. There are no electrical plug outlets or USB ports at the side tables near the bed; that wasn't good. The suite included robes. Our room was quiet throughout our five night stay.
