It was constructed in 1978 and replaced the Pasco-Kennewick Bridge, an earlier span built in 1922 and demolished in 1990. I not only crossed this bridge, but got to see it up close from a boat on the Columbia River (in and out from Clover Island). The "cable stayed" design is quite a sight to see and admire. The Cable Bridge, from the time of its opening, has proved to be a popular landmark in the Tri-City area, so much so it has become an unofficial symbol of the area. The Bridge is lit up at night, and there's an annual Cable Bridge Run across the span. At the foot of the Kennewick end is the Tri-Cities Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The remaining pier of the old Pasco-Kennewick bridge now serves as a scenic lookout, from which one can view its successor bridge.

Long phone conversations at booking about wanting to be able to see family knowing my dogs were safe while I was gone...in case the AC went out. I did not request any specific numbered spot, but it seemed like I could safely assume it was NOT in the full sun. Checked in today to see the pet policy is NOT as lax as I was told at booking. Walk the dogs along the asphalt road in 98 degree heat for the fenced dog park. Oh? I have old dogs...they don't need a "park" environment, just a safe place to potty. After pushing the issue, I was told that I suppose they could use the grass area between the pull through spots, but it did not seem preferred. Then I got to the allotted spot. See the dead TINY tree photo.... 1) no shade...and it had zero chance of it when making my reservation over the phone a month ago. 2) the plastic cover over the outlets was broken, then poorly masked to look as if it was one piece. 3) There are obviously water issues between the 2 emergency shut off emails today and the dying grass around my assigned location. I pulled an employee over to show them the broken plastic (to ensure I couldn't be blamed) and I was told that I could probably move spaces, but I'd already plugged in for the AC with my pets on board and had the "never leave your pets unattended" policy pointed out in the office anyway. If I were the manager trying to get to pimp out for high reviews, I'd personally be working harder on putting people in better empty sites when they aren't full. An extra $28/night for a false expectation and resort services I'm not officially allowed to use. Consider me unimpressed.

I am NOT a fan of booking a specific site, paying in full (half a year in advance), and NOT getting it, when we would absolutely be showing up at their posted check-in time. I get it. It's a holiday weekend, and you want to maximize your $$$ opportunities, but dang it....c'mon. We went from reserving the best site (#22), to being given Site #1, which is the very first one you see, directly across a beautiful parking lot. Their bathroom was a football field away from the site. It was unisex w/shower, and 8 times outta 10 you went to use it....it was occupied, and someone was taking a shower. You won't--and can't--wait in that situation. I don't begrudge the folks using the facilities in that regard, but it was untenable. Thankfully, I spotted a porta pot off their property that was available, yet still a football field away. It became the Wifey's and my personal pissatorium. To note, we never saw the camp host. She seemed nice when we got a call on our way down to see if we were, 'Still coming?' Maybe we disappointed her when we said we were on our way. I can't help feeling that if we missed her call, Site #1 would have been given away, and we would've been s*** outta luck when we showed up at check-in...

One thing that can be improved is to obtain a few more carts to help haul luggage. There was only one cart available which was always handy when I needed it. Just during our leave there were others needing it as well and just pacing around us waiting to use it for themselves, which was annoying, but I understand they were trying to leave also. One other thing would be to stock more than one pouch of coffee in the rooms. Not sure if they typically do but our room had one and the coffee was not very potent. I would just go to the lounge to retrieve coffee their which was always full and really good coffee. Overall other than that great stay nice to have a kitchenet area. Make sure to take a pot and pan this can save money from eating out. room has a nice large fridge, multiple cupboards. Bathrooms are great stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The beds did say 2 queen size they are more like a full size. blankets were cozy.
