Beware; Sketchy at best. Quoted $175 to pick-up a ~150# sofa and dump for an additional $50. Showed up 30 min. late for pickup, 30 min. later work was complete. Then asked for an additional $150 to dump. When challenged they said they were going to warehouse the sofa, but we could go to the dump to pay the disposal fee, probably betting we would cave in. We decided to go to the dump to see the real cost. Based on weight $10 was the cost of disposal. Of course, the pick-up immediately changed to an hourly rate to include trip to the dump. The advertised Richland Land Fill rate is $10 per load up to 1200#, surely this outfit knows this. They advertise "Veteran Owned"; with claims like that I'd expect straight shooters. As a disabled veteran, I don't expect special treatment just fair; honor stated quotes. Edited: Received phone call from vendor who was somewhat upset over the above review. A veteran's discount was then offered but not accepted, again not looking for special treatment. If real, discounts should be advertised or offered at time of job request. Edited review to remove text that bothered them. Of course, my "claim" to be a disabled veteran was questioned...real class act. DD-214 and VA disability classification available upon request. I'll be gone in a couple years so my concern for their feelings is rapidly fading. read more

We had Smooth Moves move our belongings from our home we sold to our self storage units. They showed up on time but were not professional by any means. We were suppose to have four movers but only two showed up. The two constantly bantered with one another the entire time. I guess they thought it was cute. We had purchased mattress and box spring covers just in case they didn't remembered to bring theirs, which they did not. I specifically asked them to place the mattress and box springs in the bags to keep units clean. As you know, blowing dirt in the tri-cities can be quite bad at times. They failed to do so and now I have no idea where my bags have gone. Our bill was higher than the hourly rate plus tax so I emailed Zane about the over charge and the mattress/box spring issue. He stated he would follow up with his staff and get back to me. That was over two weeks ago. I emailed Zane a second time and now nothing but crickets. Use your own judgement but we won't ever use them again. read more

I went with Smooth Moves because of the good reviews on Yelp. They seemed fine until I got my stuff. They broke the handle on my refrigerator. They crushed and destroyed a lamp shade. And I'm heartsick by their mishandling of a hand made 100 year old German antique armoire. This piece of furniture has been around a long time. I shipped it to the US, moved it to Oklahoma then Washington state with only a couple of dings. They taped the outside of the varnished hand carved doors with the shelves and they slid back and forth against each other ruining the finish. They also managed to break one of the shelves. And forgot to give me the antique hardware but left it in the truck. I haven't unpacked everything yet but I won't be surprised if there's not more damage read more

The movers were punctual, dressed professionally / appropriately, and were extremely courteous around my family - which I appreciate, tremendously. The move was uneventful - no big deals - and was completed in under half a day. Not so smooth. The two-man crew refused to transport anything stored in the garage that looked like critters had been there. I was forced to hire others who would transport the items they left behind. Their manager was called out to the site where he showed up with a no-can-do attitude. Also, a lot of items were left behind that were untouched on the shelves in the garage that I had to hire others to move. Of course the company has other crews who are probably just fine. But if you are transporting stored items outside or in a garage with access to critters, I would probably use another company and check with their policy if the stored items may be critter compromised. read more

I recently tried to reclaim a home that had been rented out by my ex. I understand that the place was a mess, but I had half of the home cleaned and everything packed away that I could salvage neatly stacked just mere inches from the front door. It would have been a simple in-and-out no problem. I made the mistake of asking if they could also help me try to get the appliances from the back end of the home which I had not had a chance to clean. They refused to provide any service at all because the other half of the home had not been cleaned yet. If they had refused to help with the three whole appliances (a fridge, washer, and dryer) in the bad half of the home I would have understood completely and had no problem with it. However, they refused to help with anything at all after that point. Apparently even the cleaned and neatly packed stuff in the cleared part of the home, right next to the door without having to move more than several feet, was too much for them to handle because of the back end of the home they would have never had to step foot in. read more

I called Zane pretty last minute to move the contents of our apartment from Kennewick to Lewiston, ID. Even though he had a really busy schedule when I needed his help, he went out of his way to fit me in. He actually drove our load over to Lewiston himself, and somehow throughout all of this he managed to get our price below what he had originally quoted me. Zane's crew was friendly and was careful with our belongings. Nothing was damaged in the move. NEVER use this company. NEVER. They gave us a quote. One truck, this much money, this many hours to get into the truck. We had all of our items well-packed, and extremely well organized. They came, and were totally befuddled. It took almost three times longer than quoted to get our items into the truck, and lo and behold, took TWO trucks. You guessed it: More money. THEN. It was on a weekend. The truck left on a Friday. The owner, Kenny, who is an absolute piece of work, was furious that the packing had taken so much time. He made his workers race to our new location, and had them LITERALLY THROW our boxes and items into the storage location where we were temporarily moving them. From the specs they had given us, we had allowed for ONE large storage space. No. Because of how they had THROWN our items in, we had to rent two. That second storage place-- a nice one, by the way-- ended up being broken into, so we lost all of our items from there. All of them, including priceless personal items. We blame Kenny. And Smooth Moves. NEVER use them. NEVER. read more

Smooth Moves handled our furniture during a floor refinish. In the process they dropped the refrigerator and conveniently forgot to tell us. They gouged the hardwood floor in two places and carefully covered the damage with a sofa and rug. Add in nicks and gouges in furniture, smashed lamp shades and a ruined finish on the dining room table, this move was a total disaster. Our restoration contractor received a $5,000 judgement against them in small claims court but that barely touches the total damages. Stay as far away from Smooth Moves as possible. read more

I had called to schedule an estimate. Due to my work schedule, it was two weeks before Zane could make it out. Fair enough. Estimate was scheduled for 12:30 pm on a Friday. He showed up 15 minutes late,took some notes and said he'd email me my estimate the following Monday or Tuesday. It is now Wednesday afternoon and I have seen nothing from him. Very unprofessional and if they can't be on time to an estimate, then what's going to happen come moving day? We did an in town whole house move. It went off okay, but took a lot longer than estimated. Our refrigerator was damaged and things just seemed poorly organized. In May 2019 Smooth Moves moved my sister from a too small house to a larger one that was only a mile away. Zane came by, looked the small house over and emailed a quote in a timely manner. The 3 guys showed up on time and ready to go; we had much of it packed but they needed to take apart a queen bed and move the washer and dryer plus lots of other stuff. They did a great job including putting the queen bed back together and loading/delivering a dozen things out of my storage unit. Very enthusiastic team. On Oct. 31st I contacted Smooth Moves about moving my stuff out of one storage unit to a smaller one in the same complex. Zane returned my call in just under 2 hours. During our conversation I mentioned it probably would only take 45 - 60 minutes which would have been a great time for Zane to inform me there was a 2 hour minimum charge; he did not. I took pictures of my storage unit and sent them to him in a text and also inquired how much it would cost; he never got back to me. On Nov. 1st 2 of his team met me at my storage unit and proceeded to move my stuff to the smaller unit. It only took 1 hour and after they were done I was told about the 2 hour minimum and that it would cost $250!! I definitely would have found a less expensive way to make the move had I been informed of the 2 hour minimum. the movers were very nice and polite. Ouch! That $250 hurt!!! Zane just called me and offered to refund $125; I appreciated that gesture and accepted. Both times I have interacted with Smooth Moves the movers worked hard and got the move done in good time without issues. read more

I want to say what great customer service this company has! They stayed in touch with me before my move, since my closing date continuously changed, and tried to accommodate our schedule. They were professional, quick with an estimate, and even though they were booked on the day I needed them, they still called back to ensure I was taken care of and all went well.
