I was in the area visiting friends and one of them recommended this salon to me saying that she has had gotten some great color done here. Since I had a bit of downtime and was in desperate need, I made an appointment with Alexandra for a full head of highlights. This was by far one of the best color appointments I have ever had. Alex immediately knew how to achieve what I was looking for with the least risk of damage; which is so important to me because my hair is so fine and breaks so easily. My thought of traditional highlights was quickly updated to getting a mix of highlights and balayage to give a more modern look which I appreciated. On top of the amazing color, the blowout was not rushed and left my hair looking soft, healthy, and not overly dry. Many times I find myself having to fix blowouts that just went bad by time I got home or just were bad to start with, but this one was a perfect mix of smooth and volume and lasted the through the rest of the weekend. Horrible, they burned my hair!!! I am Spanish with dark curly hair and I came in asking for a blowout and it was the worst experience of my life!!! First of all the lady that was blowing out my hair seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. It showed as she was working my hair and couldn't even properly control the brush. It was either she didn't know how to do hair or she just couldn't work with curly hair!!! This got me really upset because there is a lot of reviews here that make them seem like they are a walk in the park but trust me avoid especially if you have curly Spanish hair!! After she was "done" with my hair it looked frizzy and unkept, a total let down! For that I could do it my self and save money! She saw how horrified I was about my hair and she quickly turned on the flat iron and she couldn't even do that! She ended up burning my hair!! My curls on the top were gone, flat, finito and done! I asked for a specific haircut. The stylist asks if he could do something with more flare. I said no. He the proceeded to give me a completely different haircut while using me to teach someone else to cut hair without my permission. I am fairly certain that he didn't cut the front at all. Went to Tressol-mi on a wim today, I called ahead of time for a balayage and a cut. I went in and Amanda was my hair dresser. I explained to her what I wanted haircut and color wise. I have a lot of hair and I understand that it takes a lot of time to do , especially when you are painting. I had a botched haircut from about 8 months ago , I let Amanda know that I was growing it out from when I was chopped before and I told her I wanted to keep the layers as LONG as possible and that I wanted the layers to blend. She cut it first and she was saying how the last cut was really weird and she couldn't figure out what the last hairdresser was trying to do. As she was cutting I noticed that the layers looked really really short up towards the top of my head. My length is past my shoulders. I figured it would be longer once it was blown out since my hair is pretty curly. 3 hours later the color is done and toned. My hair pulls a lot of gold , which I told Amanda previous to preforming the service. Once washed out and blown dry the layers were like steps, it actually looked worse than the last haircut. The color on the other hand turned out good, the toner took out a lot of brass and gold. My hair honestly takes FOREVER to grow, now I'm stuck with another haircut that I hate, you can literally see the different steps of layers all throughout my hair. It feels longer in the back , like a piece was missed. I asked her to kind of thin out the top part since the top looked and felt so heavy compared to the rest of my hair. It seemed like she didn't really want to do it, but did anyway and instead of thinning out the top she took scissors to my hair and slid them all the way down to the bottom making it look actually more choppy. At the end I was charged 180 bucks , and gave a 25 dollar tip. I'm pretty sure she knew I wasn't happy with the haircut at all and kept asking me if i like the color. I said yes the color is nice but I'm not too fond of the cut. She said well I like it, but I don't have to wear it. So basically I'm going to have to let another haircut grow out which is probably going to take another year. I probably will not be back to this salon , very overpriced, and not happy with the haircut at all. read more

By far, I am a huge fan. I started seeing Meghan McCord about five years ago at a different salon. I am so impressed with her that I continued seeing her after the switch. Meghan is always pleasant, open to suggestion and gets to know what your "style and personality" are before she makes any suggestions. My hair is naturally curly and Meghan is the only person I trust to make the right hair choices for me. We have gotten to the point that I walk in, sit down, and just say "I'm in your hands." My Sister and I were "grooms ladies" in my Brother's wedding. A month before the wedding we found out the rest of her bridal party weren't getting their hair or make-up done so we were in a bit of a pinch. Being from out of state we hopped on yelp for help! My Sis called a few of the top rated places and got scoffed at and I tried my luck with TressOlay. I'm really glad I did! The receptionist booked our hair and make-up appointments in a snap, she was real sweet and glad to be of service. When my Mom found out we found a place, she wanted an appt as well and they once again accommodated me. They are right in the middle of town and have some parking. It was a bit busy when we arrived but were able to get a spot. The staff were ready for us, we were greeted with smiles and excitement for our arrival. Sis got her make-up done by Kylie while Jacki started me. My Mom got Emily all to herself. We all had ideas of what we wanted and our stylists did a good job of getting our feedback as well as showing off their expertise and skill while doing our hair. Kiley was absolutely fantabulous with our make-up (spend the extra on airbrush ladies, it looks flawless and last all night even throughout tears during the ceremony and touching toasts!!). I was in a wedding a few months ago where the artist was a bit heavy handed so it was refreshing to see him work his magic. All three of them all also made sure to make sure our looks weren't too over the top since we told them the rest of the party would be more casual, they found the perfect balance for all three of us. I also want to mention that the entire staff was friendly and supportive. I got a real sense of community from them. I was a tad jealous of how some locals looked when they walked out with their normal styles. I'm from Massachusetts and now live in the LA area and can say that these people know their stuff. They seemed to have the flair and whimsy of the west coast and the sophistication and simplicity of the east coast. We were all extremely happy with each of our 'dos. We paid what I was quoted ($75 for the 'dos and $70 for airbrush make-up each). We got lots and lots of compliments on our hair and make-up throughout the evening. Our styles and make-up held up all night and into the next day even! All-in-all a rewarding experience done by friendly and professional staff. I called ahead of time, wanted a Keratin treatment and was told it would be 150.00, maybe a little more if I had very long hair (mine is shoulder length) - I was put with the owner of the salon. The salon is nice looking. I had had the treatment done before elsewhere so I already knew I didn't need all the care products they tried to sell me with it - when I got to the register- they charged me $300!!!, not $150. Because I wouldn't buy the other products, perhaps? When I questioned it, the owner told me "you must have heard wrong" and got very rude with me. I find the staff here pleasant, competent, and professional. I have received some better cuts here than in Manhattan. In fact, I live in Manhattan (and weekend here) but have my hair done here instead. You can't tell from the unhip exterior that the inside is actually stylish and modern. read more

I just recently found this salon thanks to a friends recommendation(thanks Angela!). I was unable to get to my old salon since I've moved and I was sooo scared to try new people, but this salon is amazing! I saw Alexandra for my color and she suggested some accent highlights which was the best idea! It softened my dark hair and looks so natural, I'm obsessed! I liked the look of the salon, and the woman who cut my hair was nice to talk to and did a wonderful job. Then only bad thing I really have to say about the experience was all the different prices I was given for the hair cut. Depending on who I spoke to, the cut was going to cost anywhere from $35 to $60 dollars. The stylist told me it'd be a $35 cut, but when it was done I was told at the counter that it actually cost $40. When I inquired whether that was with the 15% discount I knew I was getting, she said that the cut was really $45 (since the technique used was special), but with the 15% discount it was now $40 (the math is wrong). If you are now confused at this point with the price bouncing around, you know how I felt. A business should have their prices made more clear, and the customer should pay for what they EXPECT to pay for. Also, if you offer a 15% discount, please honor that. It may seem like splitting hairs (a 15% discount off $45 is $38.25, not $40), but it makes you look bad to round your prices, especially when it's in favor of the store and not the customer. The hair cut is great, my conversation with my stylist was a pleasure, everyone was very nice, but my experience finished on a sour note over this confusing pricing "system". read more

I really enjoyed going to Tressol-mi for my wedding party hair and makeup. It was the only place in town that would completely shut down for the morning of the wedding just for us and it felt really special and fun. They provided coffee and bagels for the girls and everyone loved the way they looked! It was definitely pricey, especially for the bridal services, I did not feel like they spent that much more time on the bride than everyone else, but overall it was a great experience and I would certainly recommend it. read more

I asked the owner of the salon to give me a bob cut; my hair is no where near a bob cut. I paid 45$ plus 10$ tip and now I know why it was so cheap. It's because she f**ked up my hair. Instantly, I knew my hair was uneven because right after the cut she started curling my hair. A professional, experienced, and confident hair stylist would blow dry your hair straight or simply straighten it to show the client/customer their work. The so-called "experienced" salon owner tried to cover her mistake by curling my hair. (FYI) to paying clients, please be aware! Whether your getting a trim, layers, highlights, low lights, or an ombre, if any hair dresser insist on curling your hair, the hair dresser is trying to hide their mistake by curling because using this method hides imperfections. Common sense, why would any cosmetologist curl customer's hair after a bob cut? Specifically and especially a bob cut style. The point of a bob cut is to see the even layers and angles of the hair style. How can the customer see his or her bob cut when the "cosmetologist" decides to do curls ? Helloo... Duh...It's because she f**ked up. I also had a visual picture prepared for the "hair dresser" more like (hair messer) and guess what ...the model in the Photograph portraying the bob cut style didn't have her hair curled! Therefore, the owner did not fess up to her mistake and I'm sure I'm not the only head she curled. In other words, curling = uneven/ bad hair cut and she brunt my scalp. Yelp should provide a negative star because that's her rating. The owner of the salon openly admits that she attended a bad beauty school in Poughkeepsie. I recommend no one goes here. read more
