This restaurant is near the Edloe/Buffalo Speedway exit - it felt familiar as it was once an old stomping ground. Although it was tight turning into the strip, there was parking reserved for patrons. Got seating at a nice corner that felt cozy and then placed the order rapidly. I then went to the restrooms. Upon coming back to the table, 2 dishes were already served. The third dish and 2 bowls of rice followed. That was quick! Was glad that I didn't order more dishes as I saw huge plates of food. The authentic Sichuan dishes were a delight and tantalizing to the tastebuds. The dishes were unique - none of which I knew how to prepare from scratch. The taste of Amazing Fish could be overpowering if you aren't used to the peppercorns. Being a fish freak, I jumped to try this when I read that it was made of flounder - wouldn't have done it if it was catfish, tilapia or swai. It was tasty yet very spicy. Sichuan style Biang noodles were quite good - liked the flavorful and liberal ground meat and green beans medley topping and the texture of the noodles made us reach for more with the plastic tongs. Loved the mapo tofu. So good with rice! I saw lots of flavorful umami bits in Amazing Fish and decided to bring home the onion mixture flanking the fish after speaking to one of the staff. The next day, I was able to easily reconstruct a delicious meal by mashing some cubes of tofu, fried them till super crispy, added frozen edamame then threw in leftover of the Amazing Fish - stir and serve with rice. So good! (P.S. I came here for dumplings but ordered Sichuan dishes instead :))
The best place to eat in Houston for me. Lots of food for the price. Everything tastes great.
This restaurant is super dependable and consistent and there are two dishes that you must get when you come here. The restaurant is located off 59 feeder and parking can be challenging at times. The restaurant is clean and usually quite busy. The staff is nice and straightforward. The dishes that you must get are the Sichuan style Biang noodle or the regular Biang noodle. The noodles are freshly made and super long and thick. The sauce is so delicious and pairs so well with the perfectly chewy noodles. The amazing fish is also a must order dish. They use flounder that nicely seasoned and coated with a perfect coating that is crispy and so addictingly delectable. Somehow it is so light and crispy and doesn't feel greasy. My diagnosis: come here for scrumptious amazing fish and Biang Biang noodles!
I've been here to dine a handful of times and just realized I never wrote a review of all my positive experiences here for the world to know. So here we go! Trendy Dumpling is a Chinese/Sichuan style restaurant located off 59 and Edloe off the feeder. It's close to the 59/610 west loop intersection which is notorious for horrendous traffic, so pack your patience. The restaurant is at the tail end of a shopping strip that includes Plato's Closet and Game Over Games. (Fun to browse there to walk off your meal.) Parking can get tight during busy times so I usually try to avoid the peak hours like noon and 7 pm. The store front makes you think it's a hole in the wall, tiny restaurant, but it's actually quite spacious inside. The decor is nice and ambiance pleasant. They could use some cleaning of the vents and light fixtures (details matter) but I also don't think they are trying to be a fine dining establishment so whatever. Now for the food: everything I've ordered here is quite good, but I do highly recommend the soup bao, dumplings, Biang noodles, and amazing fish in particular. The amazing fish is quite amazing! The name is perfect for the dish and quite enticing. Everything is delicious and there's so much variety that you can come back multiple times and try something new every time. The flavors of all their dishes are a hit, and everything comes out the perfect temperature. Service is OK - nothing special but nothing to complain about. I'll definitely be back for my Amazing Fish, and I'll just expect the traffic to be a little worse than the last time because that's how 610 west loop has been the past 20 years.
Trendy Dumpling is definitely a vibe - bright, modern, and Instagram-ready with a menu that screams fun Asian street food. I like that the dumplings look as good as they taste... mostly. Some hits are flavorful and perfectly cooked, but a few fall flat or feel under-seasoned. The energy in the space is lively and buzzy, which is great for a casual outing. Overall, it's a solid spot for a quick bite or foodie pics, just not quite memorable enough to make it a destination spot.
It's been a little while, but I came back since my sister and mom were raving about the spicy beef noodle soup with hand pulled noodles. We did not hold back with our order--we had that soup, plus the chicken dumplings (steamed), the dry pot vegetable, a pot of honey ginger tea, and the honeydew milk tea. It was all an explosion of flavors, and quite delicious. The surprising standouts were the honey ginger tea, dry pot vegetables, and the chicken dumplings. They said the tea has orange in it--it was so good! Not your average flavorless hot tea. The vegetables had well-balanced cumin undertones. And the chicken dumplings were simply plated on a thin sauce, but perfectly done. The beef noodle soup was good, but the beef was quite fatty, despite being tender. The noodles were really chewy and delicious. The soup broth itself has a kick to it that you don't really detect with burning in your mouth--for me, it made me cough a lot. Prices were fair. Ambiance is cozy and wasn't overcrowded. Overall, there was a lot to love--I'm bumping them up to 5 stars for me now.
I'm very happy I decided to try this place out. It has a pleasant and quaint atmosphere. The hot and spicy dumplings were my favorite. The sauce was so good! Best I've had. The Dan Dan noodles went nicely with the meal however I found them to be a bit bland. The walnut shrimp were huge but a bit too much on the sweet side however great quality. The server was nice and the restaurant was pretty busy when I went. I look forward to trying more dishes in the future.
Went in for my birthday with a large party they were extremely accommodating. Super attentive. And the food it speaks for itself... beef noodle soup Spicy boiled beef Amazing fish Hand pulled noodles with chicken Veggie crispy bottom bao Chilli oil dumplings (usually pork but they made mine with chicken dumplings cause they are just awesome like that) Duck soup Whole duck Half our group had never had Szechuan before and everyone loved the food. I really don't think I got pictures from the food we were just enjoying the food and company .
Excellent choice for our Asian food night on our trip to Houston. The noodles were top notch.
Trendy dumpling is such a great spot for dinner or lunch. The food tastes homemade and fresh! The noodles are so good. You really cannot go wrong here! Everything is so delicious. The music they play is also super relaxing and peaceful. A major plus is the servers are very kind and the food comes out quick!
Food Mongolian beef 4/5 Flavorful. Shrimp dumplings 3.5/5 You get 5. Better than freezer dumplings. Mapo tofu 4/5 Flavorful and plenty of fish and tofu! Solid lunch place. I may come back.
Very underwhelming service. I could tell it was going to be an interesting experience as soon as we walked in. Our server only checked on us about twice the entire time. The dumplings were okay, but I wish they had more flavor. The noodles were pretty bland as well. I did enjoy the calm music, though.
Biang Biang Noodles were my favorite! The Spicy Dried Chicken Cubes had my mouth numb. Spicy and delicious. Low lighting and a nice place for dinner with friends and family. I will be returning next time I visit Houston. read more

Food wasn't bad but I didn't care for it much. It was my first time having either of these dishes. I heard good things about Dan Dan and wanted to try. They were underwhelming in comparison to the vision in my mind based off of what I have heard about them. I also tried sui mai from Trader Joe's and wanted to get a more authentic experience. They were cute. Trendy isn't bad which is why I stopped by but I thinkni will be sticking to what they are most praised for. read more

Stopped into Trendy Dumpling on the holiday to enjoy a nice late lunch with my partner. It's located in a strip mall along 59 accessible if you're headed East. Tons of seating and a small bar area when you venture inside. Once seated, you find the menu is moderately sized with approachable and shareable items like dumplings with a variety of protein fillings, bao, noodle and rice dishes, and even boba. We tried several hearty dishes that were all really quite good. Dan Dan noodles were the highlight for me. A bit spicy, but still manageable, with crispy chopped peanuts, well seasoned ground pork, and scallions. All in a generous (at least 2 large servings) bowl. Just use the tongs to mix everything well and enjoy. The garlic eggplant was equally delicious. Tender, with a rich and slightly sweet sauce. Perfect to drizzle over and incorporate with sticky white rice. My partner tired the intestine dry pot with loads of whole garlic, bell peppers, and peppercorns. It's not my favorite flavor profile, but they fried up the intestines to perfection. This one comes with a little bit more heat in my opinion. Finally, the crispy bao were visually appealing with plenty of pork (I think) filling. The only downside to the meal was the bao were a bit dry once you take a bite. However, the flavor is there and if you try it with soy sauce it may help. Overall, we both really enjoyed trendy dumpling and thought it was among the better options outside of Bellaire/Chinatown. read more

This place is on my list to definitely visit again next time I'm in Houston. Easy parking, great service, and amazing food at a decent price. One of the waiters noticed I was checking the score for a gold cup match on my phone and put it up on the tv without me asking. Also got some great recommendations from our waiter. My favorites were the hot and spicy dumplings and the Sichuan style biang biang noodles. The noodles had a decent amount of spice with the peppers mixed in, but nothing overbearing. If you're looking to curb a dumpling fix, this is the place to visit! read more
We had a wonderful lunch at Trendy Dumpling. The perfect place to head when you want to share a meal with friends and try all the menu items. The dumplings came steaming hot, and were perfectly cooked. We all had our favorites but the overall winner was a simple but flavorful chicken steamed dumpling. Sometimes the simpler the better, allowing for us to taste the fresh ingredients. Service was simple but good. Prices were great. read more

I visited this place last night and I will say that the food is so yummy. The service was VERY lackluster, so do not expect service with a smile. But every single dish that my sister and I ordered was a 10/10. We got an order of cream cheese puffs (no krab rangoons unfortunately), crispy bottom Bao, General Tso Chicken, Chinese eggplant, hand pulled noodles topped with chopped Chinese green beans and pork, roasted pork belly in a garlic sauce with rice white and beef lo mein. We also ordered to special drinks - one Taro boba tea, one Lychee sparkling refresher with jelly and one Mango sparkling refresher with jelly. They were absolutely amazing. read more

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT TOOK THIS LONG TO TRY THIS PLACE!! Absolutely phenomenal!! The Singapore noodles are out of this world! Oxtail Noodle Soup is ridiculously delicious with bold flavor. Chili oil dumplings are a must.. I'll have to try more things in order to recommend but if you live in Houston, this needs to be a weekly spot. read more

So this restaurant is under the same ownership as hi trendy dumpling. I ordered the flat noodles with beef which was so good, much better than their sister store. I also ordered the soup buns which were only slightly soupy and for some reason stuck to the paper and busted open. Was a lil disappointed with the soup buns. I would return though and try other dishes such as the Peking duck. Service was decent enough. Plenty of parking outside. read more
So so so good! We came at around 5:30pm and were able to get seated right away. Their menu is very extensive, which was cool. To our surprise, the food came out super quickly just shortly after ordering! The dumplings really lived up to its expectations. We tried the hot and spicy dumplings, the pan fried chicken dumpling, and the pork soup bao. If I had to rank the order of my favs, it would be in that exact given order. The hot and spicy dumplings were actually spicy this time (amazinnnn) because they had some chopped peppers. The wontons were big too. I'm used to smaller sizes. The pan fried dumplings were chewy and crispy on the edges. The sweet sauce was perfect - we were double dipping like crazy cuz it was delicious lol. The soup bao was good too, but it felt like it was lacking in flavor, so I had to submerge it in the sauce. We tried the beef noodle soup with biang noodles and the dan dan noodles, both of which were yummy in their own ways. The beef noodle soup was warm and hearty. The broth wasn't too heavy, and the flat noodles were LONGGG. Beef was tender, and the flavor overall was great. The Dan Dan noodles had a slight tanginess to it, and it wasn't overpowering like the ones I've tried before. Noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portion was HUGE. It was pretty much never ending. I loved both noodle dishes! Our interactions with the servers were minimal, but they did consistently clear out our plates and provided us with what we needed. The inside is spacious and the lighting is quite dim. Parking is ample, so I had no trouble finding a spot! I'll definitely be back for some more dumplings. The ultimate star of the show was the hot and spicy dumpling. read more
I enjoyed my latest visit to Trendy Dumpling. We had our favorite dish - soup dumplings - in both pork and chicken flavor. They were just as tasty as we remembered, but I had a slight preference for the pork. The general Taos chicken was flavorful, but not too spicy, with a crispy outer coating. We also tried the Mongolian beef and the xin jiang biang noodles. Both were great. The beef was tender and flavorful with a nice amount of onions. Our favorite was the hand pulled noodles, which were covered in spicy diced chicken and vegetables. It had a nice kick and was a generous size. Service was quick and attentive. read more

Giving my review 4 stars, only because the servers lacked a little attention to detail. Barely check on us, seemed super in a rush. BUT, the food was 10/10....I was so impressed with the flavors and deliciousness of every plate. The hot and spicy wontons and walnut shrimp were my favorite. Also the chocolate dumplings were wonderful. As a Din Tai Fung fanatic, this place came pretty close! read more

When the whole group says the food is good and delicious, you gotta believe it. My friends and I really enjoy this place because not only are the portions pretty generous, each dish and dumpling is also made well and tastes great. We all thought the Pork Soup Dumpling was the perfect shareable for the table along with the Hot & Spicy Dumpling. Our various noodle dishes were all filling and flavorful with enough to go around to share. While the dishes already look appetizing, they taste better than they look which is a high compliment. The whole restaurant is tidy and pretty spacious making it welcome and great for groups. Service was attentive and food came out within a reasonable time. I definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a place to eat near River Oaks or Rice Village. read more

Trendy dumpling has been such a hit ever since it opened. The restaurant is usually always packed and I recommend it to friends if they're in the area. Prices are fair and service is quick and good. My personal favorites are the crispy bottom baos (always order more of these), peking duck, beef noodle soup, and spicy wontons. These dishes are so flavorful! Parking can get kind of packed on the weekends! read more
I came back a couple of times since the last time and wanted to update my review. Eggplants and green bean love 5/5 Still my favorite dish. It is so savory and flavorful. Veggies soaks up the sauce and is so soft. Chili dumplings 3/5 Dumpling wrap is just too thick for my liking but I can say the sauce is very addictive. Singapore noodles 4/5 It's good. Light curry flavor. I like the portion. Very easy to share. Buns 5/5 Pretty soft and insides were gushing with hot goodness. Beef 3/5 It's decent but I've has spicier from elsewhere. read more

Really good food...delicious drinks...nice atmosphere and service...I had an order of fried chicken dumplings...they were amazing...I also enjoyed an order of chicken lo mein...very tasty...the portion of the meal was enough for two...my wife had an order of pork boa...and she said they were very good as well...but what I really enjoyed was the hot ginger honey lemon tea...I never had tea that was this delicious...it was simply heaven...the one thing I have to say was unpleasant was the parking...the parking lot is too small for all of the surrounding businesses...but the food makes it worth it read more
Very clean and cute little spot with friendly and quick service. However, there was a homeless outside when we were walking in who also came into the restaurant to sit around the bar. The food were all tasty so we will be back again. --only the vinegar sauce for the soap dumplings were a little off. read more

Food was great!! Very good flavor, soup dumplings could have been a bit warmer when brought out- but flavors were all very well balanced! The restaurant is a bit loud, but lively! Beef in the noodle soup as very tender, chicken was very crispy! Usually love the tendon by it was a bit tougher. The biang biang noodle is deliciously chewy and delicious!!!! Beware it packs a punch! read more

Pretty good spot for some Chinese food and I hope to come back and try other dishes! Here is a list of what my friends and I got: Sichuan Style Biang Noodles: I really enjoyed these noodles! They are handpulled and I loved how bouncy and thick they were. The dish has a ton of green beans with ground pork seasoned with numb spice. The portion is pretty big and I would totally order this again! Xiao Long Bao (Soup Bao): There's a lot of soup inside these dumplings and the dough is great. This is just me personally but the pork flavor was really strong which isn't my thing. But my friends really enjoyed it and the sauce was good too. Crystal Shrimp Dumpling: Pretty standard but nothing to complain about. Similar to the Xia Long Bao, I liked the sauce ShuMai: I enjoyed these very much! The pork and shrimp were relly flavorful and I was hooked! Hot and Spicy Dumpling: the wrapping/dough was pretty thick which made it feel like it overpowered the filling inside but not too bad overall Pork Bao: The bao itself was warm and fluffy. I wish there was more pork filling inside but it was good overall Beef Pancake: Aside from the Biang Noodles and the ShuMai, this was probably one of my favorites. The outside was both flakey & doughy, and the beef filling was delicious. I would totally order this again Crispy Bottom Bao: my review for this is pretty similar to the pork bao but I did enjoy the fried bottom which added a crispy texture. Overall, I loved the food here and it is perfect for family style. The interior was nice and the service was fast too. Can't wait to try other dishes in the future! read more

What noodle dishes are tasty but not hot?
The flat noodles with beef and broccoli
Hello ! I was just wondering what menu items were peanut free?
I'd just cook at home so you can control what you put in it. Don't depend on untrustworthy answers with your life.
I don't see the lunch menu... so where is it or what are their lunch specials?
The lunch special is $10.50 and it’s about 10 items.
Any dessert dumplings here? Any desserts at all?
They only had brownies when I was there... I didn't try them though
Are the vegetable items vegetarian?
They also have a special vegan menu if you ask!
