I wish I could give this place more stars! After a terrible dye job by a friend, I was desperate for a fix. Most salons aren't open on Mondays, but as I looked through yelp, I found Trendsetters. My Mom had been there before but I had never tried it, until recently I was quite happy with my salon downtown. I decided to give it a try since I needed an immediate fix! Heather was my stylist and she was amazing!! She worked through the options for correcting the big mistakes and how we could ultimately achieve what I had wanted in the first place. After about 2 hours of her magic, my hair looks fabulous! I have never walked out of a salon so happy in my life. She gave me exactly what I wanted with fixing the funky color... and a super cute style! Definitely try this place out. It's tucked away inside of a strip mall, but the inside is super cute and clean! I can't wait to go back :-) read more

Went in for a trim and the girl did a great job even though I couldn't explain exactly what I wanted. It looks really cute and my hair needed it. read more

DO NOT go here. Sean is the cattiest, nosiest, most petty human being I have met in my life. He is a mix between a middle-aged soccer mom, who makes uncouth remarks about her relatives' appearance at Thanksgiving, and a 40-year-old former high school football star, who still thinks he's a big deal. He has asked multiple invasive questions about my plastic surgeries (because one in particular has resulted in a scar along my hairline), bragged about how supposedly gorgeous he is as a pageant "queen", acted like it's oh-so-obvious that I'm a trans girl, asked where I get the money for my plastic surgeries, and acted incredibly surprised upon hearing that I model for a living. He makes flippant comments about my spray tan (trust me, it isn't obvious), attempted to give my beauty advice, and even expresses doubt that I will be moving to Vegas in a couple months. He has been petty and pompous ever since I answered one of his typically nosey questions by simply answering that I'm transgender (the surgeries of which affect my ability to get my hair done regularly, as it creates numbness on my head, making heat products dangerous). He was completely bearable before that, but now he's intimidated and it shows. He has even given me the worst advice possible about my hair, insisting that I can use purple shampoo on it, without having to worry about it drying out, so long as I use a leave-in conditioner treatment afterwards. I totally did what he said (purple shampoo for ten minutes), and ten leave-in conditioner treatments haven't done jack for my hair. Neither has coconut oil or argon oil, and I'm sure he's going to write it off as me being a drag queen-wannabe when I look ten times better than he could with pillow cushions stuffed in his pants to make him look curvaceous. Utterly ridiculous. Avoid him if you want to refrain from being interrogated and negged the entire session. If he's assigned as your stylist, cancel immediately or ask for someone else. There is no worse service you can receive in the Indianapolis area, and that's saying something. read more

Apparently you cant leave a zero star review!!! My daughter went and got her hair done there today. The lady left the foils on for almost 3 hours and fried her hair. She asked for a balayage with natural brown and blonde. She got all over blonde foils. One side is all blonde and one side is highlighted. Pick and chose your hair salons ladies because this one ain't it. Her hair is broken off, She left in tears. And tried to charge her 225$ she's 16 you should be ashamed of yourself. read more

I went in with a photo of how I wanted my hair to look and left with it looking amazing!!! I got so many compliments on my new color and cut! the staff was super friendly and efficient with time and getting what i wanted! read more

One of the worst hair cuts I've ever had. Showed the beautician a good picture of what I want, and I know it will not look exactly the same. But what that beautician (I use that trem lightly) did to my hair is 10 ball parks away. It is a chopped up mess. I think this location doesn't care if you are a return customer or not. read more

First, they're open on Sundays, unlike almost all the other salons in Indy. Second, I got there early & Kristen was already ready. She was friendly & had a great idea. See, unlike normal people who make a hair appointment well in advance of their wedding day, I hadn't. She did my wedding hair, then. I was just going to get a normal, boring blow dry. She suggested & did loose spiral curls. They look great & it was only $25!!! Amazing. read more

Don't ever go here! My hair is ruined and it will take many months to grow it back out to my previous length. It is short and choppy and it looks terrible. I hate it, especially because I wanted to keep my length and Jamie cut it off anyway. Jamie did not listen to me, and Jamie did not respect what I wanted. Jamie was sure that she remembered me and thus remembered what I wanted although she had no idea if it were months or longer ago. Jamie asked me if I wanted it chin length and did not listen when I told her no, that would be much too short. Jamie was preoccupied with her personal problems and she was rough with the shampoo and was rude and argumentative when she ruined my hair. I did visit her 12 weeks prior and received a nice cut so I believed her when she said that she remembered me and that she understood my needs. She obviously remembered someone else. Again I just wanted it cleaned up and now I have a horrible cut that is too short to go to someone else to fix. I understand that Jamie is going through a hard time personally right now. But if Jamie cannot separate her personal life from her professional, then she needs a leave of absence. Jamie shouldn't take her personal frustrations out on her clients. read more

I would give my stylist 5 stars but the salon 3, so I averaged it to 4. I am newer to this side of town and have not had my hair done in 7 years besides bleaching it myself. Natalie was my hair stylist and did an amazing job with my hair which had grown out dark roots, home bleached halfway and spotty and very very long and thick hair. I called it my COVID hair..lol. I had about a ft. and a half cut off and my color corrected and roots fixed. I feel so much younger and have had so many compliments! She had another customer at the same time and still gave each one of us individual attention. I have had my hair bleached and colored for years so I recognize a stylist that knows what they are doing. Natalie was awesome and I am very happy and feel like a new women. It took years off of me! On the down side: A few of the stylist were gossiping and talking about things I felt would be much more appropriate outside of work and I felt uncomfortable hearing the conversation around me as there was one other customer there so it was relatively quiet besides the loud conversation. I put in my headphones to avoid hearing the gossip but it made me feel uncomfortable, which is a shame because my stylist was professional and amazing and this detracts from a professional environment. read more

They did a fantastic job on my wife. She got a cut and color. She looks beautiful but OMG! When they told me it was $150 I almost fainted! They tried to sell her $30 worth of very overpriced shampoo and conditioner and kept pressuring us to make an appointment in 2 months. I bet she did with prices like that. This is not a Fifth Ave salon in NYC or anything like that. There are no prices listed anywhere. Not in a booklet or not on the wall. Laura did a fantastic job but I was unable to tip her the appropriate amount because I was completely floored by the amount they charged. With prices like that they should offer credit accounts or start insisting on deposits beforehand. They are talented but Good Lord they charge too much. I would suggest you find a cheaper place to go. Someplace better than great clips but less than this place. The work was excellent but not enough to justify paying twice the price. read more

This was the best haircut experience ever- I've had a problem with my bangs for years, and I went to several different hair salons that never resolved it. Finally, this place has answered my prayers! What I was completely blown away is that they KNOW hair, not only how to cut it. I had Melissa, who was seriously awesome, and she told me specific steps to take to fix my bangs issue. I will definitely go back there and recommend it to anyone! read more

I haven't had my hair cut since last year, and it was in rough shape. I went to Trendsetters on a whim, and I am sooooo glad I did. The receptionist got me an appointment right away. The salon is very clean and nice. Niki is amazing. She made my sad, dry, over processed hair feel like silk. I brought in a picture, and my cut is absolutely perfect. Definitely my new salon! read more

Went here for a hair cut and color, based on a referral (co-worker of my mom) and had a great experience. I was hesitant though, simply because the girl I was referred to, left 2 weeks before I made the appointment... but I went for it anyway - I was scheduled with Amy Hawkins. She is awesome. She listened to my concerns - (I have had one disastrous cut after another) - and she fixed it! Everything I said about the color I wanted and my specifics on the cut - she made it happen and I'm truly happy with my cut and color. I had my appointment on a Saturday morning and she was right on time. No wait and no hassles. My only concern was the money I spent - it's not a lot to some people, but to me $105 is a lot for my hair! Especially for how subtle my change really was. read more

Absolutely love my stylist Sean, he always goes above and beyond for his clients and makes it work when he knows it's good for your hair! I've been with him for three years now and will not let anyone else touch my hair! He knows exactly what he's doing and how to keep my silver blonde hair healthy and soft! No one ever can tell that I bleach it out as frequently as I do! read more

The WORST experience ever! Let me first say my hair prior to going there was in good shape. I Went for a cut and I was talked into a color and would receive a free hair cut what a joke.... OMG the color was horrible uneven, orange and white (instead of blonde) my ends ended up very gummy. The stylist did not know how to color and never listened to me or my concerns. I was not treated good at all, the staff said they have seen worse.... I am sure they have after they damage someones hair! The staff was rude stated they have a policy NOT TO REFUND, I did not see that policy anywhere in their store, also they did NOT want to fix my hair! I went to a REAL PROFESSIONAL that said Trend Setters Hair Design did damage my hair and they should have fixed it or refunded my money. read more

Bad customer service. They pushed my appointment back 2 hours, and then still couldnt accommodate me. There resolution was to schedule me a week later! What about all my time you wasted today. No thanks. My business will go elsewhere. read more

Went to Trendsetters after not being able to find ANYONE in this city that can do highlights without them being ORANGE. ALI is amazing. She took my dark brown boring hair and made it light up with beautiful highlights. Its a bit pricey BUT sooo worth it. I don't know how many times I left so called UPSCALE salons with orange streaks in my hair. Once I even ended up with a blob of orange in the back and didn't notice until I was drying my hair the next day. I highly encourage you to give them a try if you have had hair disasters. Like I said it will cost you a pretty penny but its worth it in the end. I will be a long time customer of ALI. read more

I would not recommend dudes get their haircut by Sean. Seemed like everything was going great then he literally chopped into my hairline on the side I brush it to. Was fairly unapologetic and said he just assumed I would want it that way?... I asked for my money back and they never got back to me. So here's the review! Thanks for making me look 10 years older. You should quit taking your baldness out on other people. read more

Most of the stylists here are great! Understandably, you get a better experience with a senior or master stylist, but even the junior stylists do a very good job. The junior stylists actually receive mentoring from the master stylists, unlike many salons where the employees just don't care. Prices range from $25 for a junior and $45 for the master, but you get what you pay for! I've been getting my hair cut and colored here with Jim for years and I've never had a bad experience! He listens to what you want, asks questions, and offers suggestions. I'd recommend him to anyone without hesitancy! read more

Do not get your hair cut here by Melissa. I asked her to thin my hair because I have really thick hair. Instead, she cut the layers even shorter and thinned out my hair on one side WAY too much. She proceeded to blow dry my hair which left a lump on one side because my hair was cut too short on the top. and didnt finish drying it as she was flat ironing it which frizzed out my hair. My hair actually looked WORSE when I walked out. Even the salon employees looked at my hair weird and NOTHING to say about the cut which usually is a sign that its bad. I had to pay $35 for this!!! She even said I had 7 days to decide if i liked the cut. I cant have my hair back and why would I want to come back to the person who cut it wrong in the first place? I do not reccomend this place at all and will also NOT reccommend this place to all my employees I work with. read more
