So I'm getting back into yoga and will take teacher training in the fall. I have NEVER had a pedicure as I NEVER go barefoot. Yoga is really the only time except when I'm sleeping that I don't have socks and shoes/slippers on. Yes, I do wear sandals and often wear heels and dress shoes. However, I don't have that many peep toes and just don't think about it.
So when I was at a yoga retreat recently and saw all the pretty toes, I made a note to get a pedicure as soon as I got back to town and committed to yoga teacher training.
So I went on Groupon and checked out price, location and reviews. Angela had really good reviews, was pretty conveniently located, and was the best deal. BINGO! I bought the Groupon and made an appointment for noon during the week.
The shop was pretty easy to find and had parking right out front. It's a small shop with several booths - your basic salon for hair and nails. I was the only person there as Angela was the only stylist working at the time. She brought me right over, I took off my shoes and socks and she had me put them in a mini hot tub to soak. It felt wonderful!
We chatted and got to know each other a little better. After my feet had soaked a bit, she started with the left one. I had let my nails grow as I've no clue how long your toe nails are really supposed to be. I usually ignore them until they are too long and then just cut them short. She cut them pretty short which works fine for me. Oh, I forgot, the first thing I had to do was pick out a color for the polish. While I've had a few mani's in the past, I also got acrylics and French tips - never colored polish. So I totally had not thought this through. She offered a couple suggestions when I told her what colors I generally wore that I was trying to match (yoga outfits). I went with the lavender you see in my pics.
She cut back my cuticles which was likely not a pleasant job. I rarely take care of the cuticles on my fingernails - so imagine what my toes were like. UGHHH! After everything on both feet were trimmed, cut and dried, she applied the polish. A great job and time seemed to fly. We had a great conversation which also included the manager - a very nice guy who greeted me when I first entered.
Angela did say her real passion is hair. I have a friend who does my hair but I might call and she if here pricing is good as I just might give her a shot.
The final note - I wore booties that have open toes (i think they are in one of my photos for Clothes Mentor) the next day and as I was waiting for the bus back to my car, I got a compliment from a random stranger on the street (a lady - NOT someone hitting on me - not that that would happen. LOL!)
I highly recommend you give you a shoot and schedule an appointment if you're looking for a pedi at a good price and friendly service! read more
