I go for their New Years dinner every year, and It has been better every year I have attended. I loved going to hear Morgan Davis, but lately he has been MIA. Waited 40 min for a lobster roll, clubhouse, and kids grilled cheese. Slightly busy, but not enough to justify the wait. The sandwiches as it turned where excellent. However we went in at 12:30 and left at 1:45. Way too long waiting especially with kids. Also over priced. Just because they won at taste of Nova Scotia award does not in my mind give them the right to over charge. Many other excellent restaurants have won more prestigious awards and charge 3/4 the price. End damage; Lobster Roll $20, Club House $14, kids Grilled Cheese $8 + fries $3 = too expensive. read more

This used to be a favourite but the summer staff clearly lack any interest in the business. We seated ourselves after waiting too long to be acknowledged. The table was dirty, covered in crumbs and although the homemade style pies were tasty, they clearly weren't worth $8.00 a piece for fairly small portions. Server arrived with napkins as we were finishing. Never did wipe the table. The coffee was barley warm and at $3.00 each hardly cafe pricing-Starbucks serves a tall Americano for $2.50; What happened? read more

ive eaten there once, after being treated by a friend. i live in hubbards so i walk by the place all the time. Usually the parking lot is packed. Inside it's a feast for the eyes with all the unique and wonderful art and other things they have on display. i was gawking the whole time i was there simply loving the atmosphere the whole place had going. The only downside to this place that i found was it isnt for those with tight purse strings...it's quite expensive for someone who may be on a fixed income. However i suppose things are priced accordingly if you look at it as you are not paying only for the food, but for the experience of being there. in my mind itll always be that expensive little place to eat that is a real treat if ever i can actually get in there. read more

Waited 10-15 mins and had to go get our own menus. Had to order drinks 3 times and still didnt get the correct drink order. There were people who arrived after us who were waited on first. I ordered French toast it came out wrong and I told them I would not eat it. They told me I had to pay for it regardless. Our first visit to the Trellis Cafe was quite by accident... off for a Sunday drive on old Highway 3 led us to stop for coffee on our way to Chester. The service and atmosphere was such that we stopped on our way back for a light supper... and pie, of course. The salads were fresh and had some of the best strawberries I've had in a very long while. Served with big smiles and the pleasantries you hope for at a quaint little village cafe. The waitress was excellent... attentive, charming and never intrusive. The crowning glory was some delicious key lime pie... homemade of course! We will certainly be back! read more

We stopped in Hubbards for lunch on a road trip along the south shore and decided to try Trellis Cafe, and ended up going back for dinner that evening! They served some good quality organic coffee, and made good use of local ingredients. We enjoyed all of the things we ordered (fish cakes, pan fried haddock, lamb burger, spinach salad), atmosphere was laid back and service was friendly. The prices were a bit high but worth it for the tasty food. We didn't order any sandwiches while there because of the other menu options that were available. Would go back again next time we're in Nova Scotia. read more

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday early afternoon. The service was great and they served excellent coffee. I had an omelette and toast with jam, which was amazing. The homemade bread and jam was too good to pass up! My partner had the haddock burger which was just okay. We would definitely come back for breakfast again!! read more

Well what a disappointment! Lunch 1:00 PM on Thursday. Cold beer, but no glasses (fresh out of the dishwasher, but still hot). On the menu today, out of haddock, fish cakes, crab cakes and lamb for burgers!! Really? Five of us ordered lobster sandwiches. They came on a bare plate - no pickle, no chips, not even a piece parsley. The lobster was chunky, however, no butter on the bread, very little if any mayo, celery, lemon & S&P. Frozen lobster with a small piece of lettuce on bread for $19 seems outrageous! For desert, out of Key Lime Pie - suprise. One piece of gingerbread was enough for 3 people. Maybe they were making up for all the things that they were out of. The middle of day, middle of the week, middle of the summer, how can this be? On an up note - our server was friendly. read more

My party of four enjoyed this place a lot. Brittany, the waitress gave top-flight service on a very busy summer evening. Best of all was the local entertainment/jam session. Quite a few area musicians appeared and put on a very good musical show with guitars, violin, drums, concertina, spoons and great amateur singing. There was a lively, friendly atmosphere and all of us would readily return to the Trellis. The food was delicious, too! read more

Worst place we have ever eaten. The chowder -- what a joke--- watered down milk with floating bits of potato & seafood. Fish fillet was tasteless. Prices are very high for this kind of food. If you want tasty SEAFOOD go to Newfoundland-- anywhere-- it is amazing--- get this we are from ALBERTANS and travel to enjoy our wonderful CANADA. but after this???? read more

Nice relaxed atmosphere with great jazz and swing music. The Atlantic salmon was great as was the lamb burger. Key lime pie excellent. Waitress funny and very helpful . The restaurant had to close early due to a lack of water but the staff handled it it very well and we were not inconvenienced in any way. I would go back tomorrow. read more

I have never written a review before, but after my visit to this restaurant while traveling to PEI in May of this year I am moved to share my experience with as many people as possible. I had the great pleasure of having the seafood chowder (chowda) as they say in Rhode Island. Being from Rhode Island, the Ocean State, I know a little about seafood and chowda in particular. This is the best I have ever had the pleasure to experience. My only regret is that they do not offer it as all you can eat. It is truly to pleasure to savor. I have attended the Newport chowder festival and this chowder would win hands down. Thanks to the Trellis Café and the staff for a truly pleasurable experience. read more

Disappointing to wait over an hour to get two bowls of chowder and a haddock burger. The haddock chowder was very good as was the seafood chowder. The haddock burger was okay, but not phenomenal. The home fries were very greasy and the servers did little to alleviate the extended wait for the food. read more
