    three plates of food

We went here because it was the highest rated in town. We were glad we chose based on ratings! Appetizers and entrees were much bigger than expected after reading another review. We could not finish everything and didn't have room for dessert. The halibut was fresh and tasty. The scallops were cooked right and had a wonderful sauce to accompany them. I did not taste the pasta, but our third party member said it was delicious. Drinks (both nonalcoholic and alcoholic) were refreshing and interesting. Service was excellent. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone anytime. Make reservations! We made them just 3 hours before going, but were happy we did.

Great stop for lunch in this pretty little fishing town. Had the fish cakes and chopped salad and haddock both of which which were excellent. Great service, cozy atmosphere. Recommend highly!

We've been looking forward to eating here for some…read moretime so we invited the new neighbours for dinner before a show, but we definitely won't be back. We arrived before the supper rush and while it was busy, the place was not full by any means with multiple empty tables. We sat up in 'The Boat' which is right next to the bar which is an awkward step up but we weren't offered one of the empty tables so we figured it out even though it wasn't conducive to having a conversation with two other people. The server who gave us menus was friendly but failed to bother to bring any water the entire time we sat there (nearly an hour). The first round of drinks showed up fairly promptly and she took our food order right after that. We opted not to get appetizers because we didn't want to eat too much before our show, but had we known how long we'd have to wait, we would have gotten something. We couldn't even order something to share between the four of us because 'The Boat' is two separate tables. We chatted as we waited for our drinks that we finished and waited some more for someone to bring food. After the last drinks were empty for at least 10 minutes, our server came back to ask if we wanted another round. Seeing as we didn't have food yet (we'd already been waiting 30 minutes), I opted out while the three others ordered one. At this point, I wasn't willing to spend more money for poor service and a long wait. We watched as a large group that clearly arrived long before us, finally got their food after 35 minutes of us having put in our order. A couple across from us showed up at least 20 minutes after us, got drinks, food and the bill before we were even offered a second drink or told about where our food was. During the time, we watched as other patrons came in, were served their food and left before our food even arrived. After about 40 minutes, our server came around and said 'it shouldn't be much longer, we're training kitchen staff so it's taking a little longer'. Not our problem, and clearly not true seeing as so many others who arrived after us were getting their food. The entire time we were waiting, servers stood around the register talking and not really checking on tables. By this point, people kept rolling in, the place got busy and we still didn't have our food 45 minutes after ordering. When our orders finally showed up after 53 minutes of being placed, mine wasn't what I ordered. I asked for a pan fried fish burger and got pan fried fish. The server was adamant that's what I ordered and proceeded to tell me that 'the only difference is the bun and veggies, otherwise it's the same fish'. I was quite surprised at the comment rather than offering to make it right. Given we had a waited nearly an hour for our food by this point, I sucked it up and just ate what I got. Service here is definitely lacking and it's clear staff doesn't have the skills required to deal with people. While the food was alright, the sides looked like they were scraped off of other peoples' plates and just thrown onto ours. No one bothered to check on us or apologize. When the bill arrived, I noticed $5.50 taken off and no explanation. I begrudgingly paid the nearly $70 bill for the two of us and decided we wouldn't be back again!

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in years. I…read moredon't enjoy writing negative reviews, but this was unacceptable. We visited The Old Fish Factory to celebrate my nephew's 5th birthday -- a group of three adults and two small children. The restaurant was more than half empty when we arrived, yet we stood at the front for ten minutes without being acknowledged. Several staff walked by, made eye contact, and kept walking. When someone finally seated us, the table was still dirty. She apologized and offered to clean it -- I ended up wiping it myself because it was still covered in crumbs after she half heartedly wiped it down. Service continued to deteriorate from there. It took another 10 minutes to take our drink and food order. We ordered two smash burgers, a wrap, two kids' meals, and a hummus appetizer. We asked for the kids' meals to come out with the appetizer, which seemed like a straightforward request. Unfortunately, we never saw our server again. Our drinks sat visibly on the bar for over 20 minutes. We tried flagging someone down -- we were brushed off with, "I'll see if I can find her." Eventually, someone else brought the kids' meals and appetizer. We asked again about our drinks, which were still untouched at the bar. Another person -- not our server -- finally grabbed them. No one came to check in. After we finished the appetizers, we waited. And waited. The kids, now long finished, grew restless. Forty-five minutes went by without a word. Nearly 90 minutes after ordering, our mains finally arrived. The wrap was cold inside. The burgers were burnt and tasted pre-frozen. The $9 "potato salad" was boiled potatoes with a drizzle of mayo -- truly. When I expressed -- calmly -- that the experience was unacceptable, the response was silence. No apology, no adjustment to the bill, no effort to make it right. Instead, they simply handed me the machine and said, "You just have to tap," implying they weren't expecting a tip -- not because they took accountability, but because they knew they hadn't earned one. I rarely leave reviews like this, and I'm not a picky diner. But this place was disorganized, indifferent, and dismissive from start to finish. We left disappointed, $150 poorer, and without so much as a simple "sorry." Lunenburg is full of wonderful places to eat -- this just isn't one of them.

Unfortunately, when you crack the door you are greeted by a dark, dingy 1980s decor, complete with deep teal paint, wildly floral burgundy wallpaper, and plastic patio tables with umbrella holes in the centres. We chose a table near the fireplace, one of three bright spots in the joint, despite the fact that it was lunchtime on Sunday. The remaining light emanated from a giant TV tuned to curling, and at the other end of the pub, the brightest glow leaked from the room containing the Video Lottery Terminals. It should have been a clue to us that the pub was nearly empty with the exception of that room. I took some heart in the fact that the sandwich board by the door advertised Propeller beer. I'm a huge fan of giving the benefit of the doubt and good beer is usually a good sign.. Our waitress was quick to provide our menus and ask for our drink orders. Troy ordered a Sprite and I asked for iced tea. She quickly returned with his Sprite, and a glass of water for me. The menu was extensive, however it quickly became obvious that most items were generic freezer fare. A page of "Asian Fusion" items and a page of Tex Mex items tempted me, but if there's one thing I've learned from experience, you stick with the safe and simple in a place like this. I chose the Haddie Tips with crispy fries and Troy had a burger with regular fries. If they'd had an all day breakfast I'd have chosen that as a safer option yet, but alas, they did not. When the meals arrived, the portions were a good size. Troy's burger was loaded with so much stuff it slid apart before it made it to the table. That may have been prevented if the chunks of iceberg lettuce had been replaced with a couple of leaves of romaine. His regular fries looked a lot like Macdonald's. The patty, at least, appeared homemade. My fries were also from a freezer, and if you know anything about me you'll know that I'm of the firm belief that restaurants have no business serving frozen fries. If you value your customers, take the time to cut the potatoes yourself. I'm not sure if my haddock was fresh or frozen. The fish itself was reasonably fresh, but the breaded coating was reminiscent of Captain Highliner's finest. Troy finished his meal with a slice of chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. I had one bite but quickly determined it wasn't tasty enough to warrant the calories. Troy, who lives for sweets, was also underwhelmed. I love pub food when it's done well. Unfortunately there was nothing about the End of the Line Pub that made me want to go back. Between the uninviting atmosphere and the plain Jane food, it's a better place to go nurse a hangover with grease than a spot to enjoy a meal with friends.

We just stopped on our way back for some quick supper anyways. I decided to go with a bro burger(play it safe) and substituted the regular fries(already had some earlier) with potato skins. When you get charged $2 to substitute your food you should probably get the same amount of potatoes as you would with regular fries. That wasn't the case. I ate those potato skins in just a few bites. No way this burger costs even close to $9! Price seemed a bit inflated. The burger had nothing other than some jalapenos and raw onions. Disappointing! My companions seemed more happy with their choices of food. I found the service average at best. Not sure why the waitress rushed to give us the bill in the end. It's not like they had any customers waiting in line at the door. Place was practically empty when we were there. Overall, I can't say the pub is bad, but doesn't stand out at all from the rest.

At places like this it's customary to offer several kinds of oysters identified by place of origin but I've never seen that before for lobster, of which they had four, from Cape Breton, PEI, and New Brunswick. In addition to the raw bar there are a few hot items, but don't expect the typical fish&chips or boiled lobster. It was crowded and too sunny on the outside deck so we elected to sit inside at the bar, which was surprisingly empty when we arrived. Behind the bar was a bustle of activity, the three bartenders busy shucking oysters and arranging plates of crab legs and lobster. (Is a raw bar worker still called a bartender?) I ordered the tuna tostadas, the wife a Baja from the tacos section, and we shared a Coctel De Camerones. Between the two small plates and the shared shrimp cocktail it was easily enough for lunch. The three tostadas were tuna, cilantro, jalapeno, pickled onion, green onions, and avocado crema served open-faced on the crispy corn tortillas. The taco was battered haddock, tequila-cilantro crema, chili mayo, cabbage, and pickled onion. Both excellent. The shrimp cocktail was enormous, and not what we expected - but in a good way. More like a thick gazpacho than the typical style. The shrimp were mixed into the thick, tomato-based sauce, sweet, spicy, and tangy, made with ketchup, Tabasco, Worcestershire, onions, and garlic. Topped with avocado and lime wedges, and served with saltine crackers. That's my only complaint: swap the saltines for a better cracker, or maybe tortilla chips. The unexpectedly tiny shrimp were not a flaw really; this way you can have a shrimp in every bite. I never did decide whether the fork or the spoon was the appropriate utensil. The cocktails were innovative, with curious names, many made with local liqueurs and intriguing ingredients (what, for example, is "grilled corn syrup", used in the "Dad Jokes" - and what the reason for its name?) My Pourly Fraised was Signal Hill whiskey from Newfoundland, Aperol, grapefruit, strawberry (thus "Fraised") and hibiscus syrups, and lemon was so refreshing, though perhaps not as strong at it should have been. A great meal, and for a very reasonable price. Lobster was "market price" but I didn't inquire. And the Seafood Tower at $140 or the Caviar & Pringles at $100 are available for those who want to splurge. Fortunately I'm not a fan of either so I wasn't tempted.
