    Bumble Berry Crisp
    Raymond M.

What a jewel to have such a great dining opportunity in the middle of a very small town. I'm cutting it a little slack with the five rating, just because it's a small roadside venue offering great food, friendly service and occasional live music. If it were in a larger municipality I'd expect the washrooms to be a bit cleaner and staff available to greet us upon entry. With only one waitress, we waited around a bit before being seated. Easily forgettable when you taste the food. Between us, we had a burger, fish cakes, and seafood chowder. Topped it off with wonderful bumble berry crisp. All we're great and service was attentive and friendly. They offer many gluten free and vegetarian options but limited dairy free choices. The Menu has some traditional items like scallops, mussels and salmon. Burgers are made with grass fed local beef, tomato chow and brown bread garnish some meals, and they offer lots of pastas and other shareables. Will definitely be back!

Trellis was such a cute restaurant. I've heard from locals and friends who have passed through that they LOVED trellis so we needed to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. The waitresses were amazing, prompt and kind. The atmosphere felt like home and the food was like mommas home cooking. I had the county breakfast with a little bit of everything and my partner had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Both were phenomenal and the homefries were cooked so well. We were so impressed that we might even make the trek back without being on a weekend trip :)

Turkey cranberry sandwich with caesar salad

I would like to preface this review by mentioning that I have visited Trellis 7-10 times over the last 3 summers. I've always been satisfied for the most part. Although I did notice a slip in quality last summer. My visit today, was not satisfactory. I ordered the half turkey cranberry sandwich with a Caesar salad. The salad was good. The bread of the sandwich was good. However there was only 1 (maybe 1.5 if I'm generous) ounces of turkey on the half sandwich. The picture I've attached doesn't do it justice. The slice which can be seen in my picture was very thin. I wish I had taken a photo from another angle. Very unsatisfying. No one wants that much bread and cranberry with so little turkey. The only word I can use to describe this is stingy. It's worth mentioning that our server was excellent. Darker complexion lady with an Australian accent. She was very pleasant and understood my complaint when I raised it with her upon paying. Sorry Trellis. You need to figure this out. I used to rant and rave about the quality of your sandwiches. Now I will rant and rave about the lack of turkey on my turkey sandwich. EDIT: My brother had the seafood chowder which advertises to have scallops and lobster. One tiny scallops and a single small piece of lobster. Only one word I can use here, (and I'm sorry Trellis)... stingy.

Excellent Jager Schnitzel (freshly made, heard them pounding the chicken in the kitchen!)

Trellis was my favorite foodie stop in all the places we visited in Nova Scotia. Although we unfortunately got there late in the evening, we were very well welcomed, had great food and great music to set a good mood. I had their Trellis lemonde as per Egan's recommendation, the soup of the day (cream of broccoli and cheddar) and chicken schnitzel -- all of which was very tasty! I was sadly too full after the soup to finish my schnitzel but it was worth it. Our meal tasted like it was done by someone who enjoys and cares about food, unlike other places we've been that just doesn't feel homemade. Their coffee is also definitely worth it! Strong and bold, very good. I hope to stop by again on a future trip to NS to try something else on their menu and to get some dessert! Bottom line, highly recommended if you're in Lunenburg, Mahone Bay or going to Peggy's Cove! Thanks for a great meal, Trellis!

This used to be a great place to eat with decent value, but have now (June-9-2011) raised all prices on their menu to a ridiculous level. A clubhouse which used to cost $14 now costs $19. Same things just a new prices and they are over the top in my opinion. Sadly, i will not be venturing back anytime soon for a meal.

My family and I got lost on our drive to Yarmouth - and by lost I mean, we really took the road less travelled. But - that road brought us to Trellis! The very quaint, comfortably-classy restaurant was pretty empty during our visit - with only one other table seated. This left lots of time for my Uncle to talk up our server about the grape vines wrapped around the trellis above the patio. He was in all of his glory, although I'm not sure she was. The menu was a decent size, lots of choices, but a little on the pricy side. I seen lots of things I would have liked to try - I went with the fish burger, which was divine! and I really, really, enjoyed their potatoes - we all did! If I ever unexpectedly end up in the area again I will be sure to pop in!

Wonderful dinner outside on the porch. Food was delicious and the service top notch. We are here several more days and will definitely be back for another meal. P.S. Don't miss the coconut cream pie.

Extremely happy we found this cute café. In the area on vacation and was one of the best meals we had in Nova Scotia. I got a feeling the waiter, Steve is the owner. We never asked but the server had such pride. I got a Caesar salad and mussels. I had got mussels all over the place and this was one of the best! Both my dad and husband got burgers. My husband's was the Gourmet and he loved it! Free WiFi is a plus. It was a great meal! Highly recommend this place for a meal. If back in the area would come back.

Stopped on the way to Lunenburg from Peggy's cove after the information desk lady recommended the food here. Friend and I split the seafood chowder and the lobster sandwich. They were both decent, but the sandwich didn't seem to have too much flavour. It was pretty simple, just mayo, lobster, lettuce, nothing fancy. It was still a good meal but I was expecting a bit more since it was highly recommended...service was great though and like much of the other small communities in Nova Scotia, everyone was very friendly.

Lovely place. Pre Covid we had a fabulous meal out on the patio. Can't wait to go back. Flexible on substitutions in the menu.

If you read their website former dairy farmers turned lobster restaurant cooks on weekends. The location did not have live music on Sunday. You get the funny bib if you want and the lobster meal for $44 with mussels and unlimited salad and rolls or $39 without the mussels but unlimited salad and rolls. The lobster was rather corny in taste, they were not over cooked and pretty nice. The mussels they tasted like the standard grocery store ones- apparently from farmed source. The waiters and waitresses frequently visited to check on us and empty out buckets. The meal also came with two dessert options and self serve coffee/tea. The experience- was nice but pricey and a bit touristy. It was sadden that the unlimited salad bar actually lacked green salad or spinach- which I was sort of craving. They generally had a selection of mayonnaise based salads- look at my photo. But some selection- but I didn't see anything fun like crab salad. The machine auto request for 15% tip, so if you're not a fan of being told what to tip be sure to manually adjust it. Washroom is located in the main floor and the lower floor. Water was self serve- which I thought was odd since the servers were visiting frequently already.

We heard about the recently-opened patio at The Shore Club (called The Lobster Pot) and decided to check it out after a swim on a hot day. We've been here before for concerts and love the location and vibe so we were excited about the great added space outside when we arrived. It's a great set up with a walk-up order style canteen. We saw the pizza oven and immediately decided we had to try one. The service definitely needs improvement. The person at the counter didn't really know what she was doing and staff that was helping her didn't seem overly thrilled or friendly. Only one older lady behind the counter was friendly and seemed to be enjoying herself. We waited over half an hour for a pizza that should have been ready in a few minutes. It wasn't busy at all and the few tables that were being served clearly looked like they had been waiting a long time for their food. I am so glad we decided to order a pizza to share! This is by far the worst pizza we've ever had in the province. What an absolute shame for such an iconic place! It was a pepperoni pizza and the salami looked like it came from a Spam can. The cheese couldn't have been cheese because after one bite, it was all stuck to the roof of our mouths and had the consistency of glue! For $20, we would have been better off at a roadside stand with fish & chips. I would definitely not recommend the pizza. While we didn't have nachos, we did watch tables have them delivered and they looked equally unappealing and small. The best part was the server let our pizza sit on the counter for a while before she figured out where we were sitting. Upon bringing us this dirty wheel, she asked if we wanted plates, cutlery or napkins? Newsflash, that should arrive before the food and it's not usually an option! If you're coming for a drink, you'll be fine, although they were out of most of their non-alcoholic options. Eat somewhere else and come here for a drink afterward just to say you did!
