My treatment started with dry needling and this procedure really helped with my pain. This was just the start as an hour more of therapy got me more mobile. I have seen progress in the few visits and continued workouts at home. My therapist, Michelle, is one of the best therapists I have ever used. She has given me hope to make my fall fishing tournament in Destin, Florida. I always make jerky for these trips and can drop off some of the jerky for my therapist and doctor.

The disappointing issue was after 3 years of returned visits to Dr. Miller, the only advise he had for me was "let's put a different bandage on it (literally and figuratively) and watch it" and purchase a wider shoe." Seriously? My toe is sending shooting pain across my foot and up my ankle. Apparently speaking louder to me will make me believe the pain in the toe is not the issue. Very unproductive visit, so after 3 years of co-pays I am seeking a 2nd opinion elsewhere.

But this Facility apparently was done with me. I understand going down to one day a week sessions, but what I couldn't understand was, why the deceit or run around. On July 05 at the end of my session I asked the receptionist if we could schedule my next round of appointments. She informed me my therapist wanted to discuss with me going down to one day (he was unexpectedly off after the Holiday) on Monday so she wanted to wait until I talked to him. So after my session on Monday I went up to her desk again and asked to schedule more appointments; this day she told me she couldn't schedule (apparently from Fri. - Mon. her story changed), anymore appointments as I needed to get approved first. I asked her. Approved from Who ? My therapist had mentioned the potential of Medicare being an issue. I informed I have TWO insurances and Medicare is Not my Primary, (in which they have this info.) they basically have nothing to do with this. So she says, hold on let me go check and she walked into the back, returning to tell me to call in 3-4 days to see if an approval came in. Again I asked approval from Who? (I know my 2 insurances were still covering this) She proceeded to say I had to wait for the Manager and due to the Holiday (4th of July), she is running behind so give her a few days. Really, this is how they operate? Knowing my insurance was still paying (& I even called them both to verify what I already knew), I called to schedule more appointments the next day. This particular women scheduled Two sessions for me and informed she was allowed to only schedule Two. (This was the very next day After the in house receptionist didn't want to be bothered scheduling the two allowed.) Then I was assured someone would call me to make the next set of appointments as soon as I was approved for more. She couldn't tell me either WHO exactly this so called approval was coming from. So I waited and waited, no one called. Plus the 2 I did get scheduled were 2.5 to 3 weeks away. Why does an established patient need to wait almost 3 weeks to get more sessions started? As I never heard back from anyone, I went elsewhere. But on July 22nd I received a phone call from Northwestern asking if I could take an appointment time available That day due to a cancelation. I informed I never had received a call to schedule more sessions and she informs me that they Are Indeed scheduled. I asked How? She then tells me her co-worker scheduled them for me. I asked, without talking to me? She sounded embarrassed and could only say her co worker must have thought she'd discuss it with me when I came in. I'd like to know if I couldn't do any of those days was I going to have to wait another 3 weeks to get in? So apparently it's the management who decides who's worthy of their time, they can push aside existing patients to allow room for New patients, so beware. Actually there is no really concern or care for their patients. I tried to send a letter to upper management but was only able to find a Patient Relations department for the hospital. I explained to her I did not want to discuss this with the local Bloomingdale office as they were the cause. She said she'd pass my name onto the next in charge. I never heard back, I sent a note telling the Patient Relations person that I didn't want to leave a bad review because I didn't want it to reflect poorly on my two therapists. Still I never heard from anyone. Now looking back at that environment I can truly say if you have a major issue this is not the best place to go. It's a large facility set up badly, i wanted to discuss the safety issues but no one wanted to call me and there were the bike that was positioned too close to it. Another time I had to use the Pullies directly after someone stopped using them (only one set !) Same thing with the armbike: None of the equipment is wiped off after use. No disenfective wipes are available in the therapy rooms for the Patient to wipe down. I saw a lot of Elderly people here, covid may not be raging but germs always exist. This facility has no weight bars for use and about daily I was given a Cane to use that surely was never wiped off from me or the last person who used it before me. My therapist attached a weight to the cane in which the velcro on the ends was worn down and it dangled over my face. When is it just going to fall apart onto someone's face? That's not all about the safety issues I spotted there but I'll just say I looked down when I walked I'm obviously highly disappointed in Northwestern but I think now they did me a favor because I'm in a much better place.

I never thought l'd be turning 30 years old while bed-ridden in an acute care facility. That…read moreunfortunately became a reality in 2023, after I was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver with dementia on I-39. I just wanted to take the time to recognize the staff at Thrive of Lisle, as they took great care of me. Shoutouts to CNA's Alan & Harrison; nurses Shirley, Mark and Gina. They are the best! Kellie from activities, Jerome and Sue are always roving the halls and engaging with residents. The positivity and enthusiasm of the staff is truly contagious, and made this long recovery journey easier for me. Therapists Susan, Ed, Keyenna and Tiffany have been helping me work towards my goal to be able to walk again and use my left arm. I love Thrive of Lisle, and the staff here. 2023 was easily the darkest time of my life. I nearly lost my life, and was not sure if I'd ever walk again, or be able to return to the career that I love. The staff at Thrive treated me like family. I can't tell you how much happiness and hope that CNA Alan, Nurse Shirley & Kellie brought into my life during this time. They are truly special people. I still come back to thrive and visit at least 4 times a year. It's rewarding for me to visit the current patients during activities time, as well as spreading positivity and encouragement. I also love seeing my extended family (the Thrive staff). My advice & words of wisdom for incoming patients and their families: * Advocate for yourself as the patient; if you're a relative; please advocate for your loved one. * Treat the staff with love & respect (I promise it'll come back to you ten-fold, and will be a much better experience for you & the staff this way.) * You might be shy at first, but take full advantage of the activities that Kellie puts together! From craft-making to group games; it's a fun time for everyone! (Even the patient's visitors are encouraged to participate). * It doesn't matter if you're bedridden, the staff will make sure to get you out to socialize, shower, or PT. You just need to communicate your needs to them early enough in the day. * Family: PLEASE don't underestimate the power of your visits. Frequent visits will greatly help your loved one as they strive to recover. I had at least 2 family members taking turns visiting me throughout each day. *Keep in mind, you ARE allowed to sit in on your loved one's physical therapy sessions. - Just ask the therapist as a courtesy* * Stay positive & Keep on thriving! Until very recently, he was only able to be seen (elsewhere) once every 2 weeks for Speech. At the same location, we were waitlisted for three months just for an OT evaluation! Needless to say, that was NOT working for us! My son needs more intensive (weekly!) services. Turning Wheels Therapy came recommended by another professional we saw. The owner, Amy, worked with me to get my son in for both therapies on the same scheduled day, and at a time that luckily worked with our crazy schedule. I am SO appreciative of that!! My son really enjoys his OT with Erin and his Speech with Kelsey. Both have been great with my questions. Erin especially has been great with providing me with resources and information regarding OT-based activities and supports. They are currently remodeling their basement area to better accommodate OT/equipment, and I am excited to see the final results! I am very happy that we found private services that works for us. My son is making great gains already, and that makes life easier for all of us!

I was terrified and he was extremely gentle and wonderful! I had surgery and him and his staff were the most wonderful team I could have expected. I will never go anywhere else. The nursing staff at Edwards Hospital is the greatest staff I have ever experienced. They clean one corridor after another and when all 4 wings are done, they start all over. The staff is wonderful- warm, friendly, caring, skilled, kind and dedicated. Even staff who was not assigned to my brother that day would stop in to say hello or share a joke or talk about sports. Some even stopped by on their days off to check in on my brother. I would say that for many of them, this is not just a job, but a calling. The care they gave was gentle, compassionate, patient, tender, respectful. They work hard to preserve their patients' dignity. My brother knew he was loved, not only by our family, but also by his Wynscape family. I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone on the staff. They regularly stopped what they were doing to provide help and assistance. The rehab staff is also excellent - encouraging, professional, attentive. The food is very good and the staff went out of their way to make sure my brother ate. The staff not only attended to the needs of my brother but were also very attentive and responsive to our family. From entering the facility to the time one leaves, the warmth and caring provided are evident. If I ever need skilled or long term care, this is the place I would choose. I am so very grateful for the care they rendered to my brother in his last year.
