Two years ago, Nelson removed a huge pine from our back yard (using the crane) for $1800. We reached out to them again this year to remove two trees (medium-sized), and they got back to us with an estimate of $4500! That price sounded ridiculous, so we got another estimate from a reputable company -- $1400!! They did a great job and didn't need any heavy equipment. It took about 90 minutes. Shortly after, our neighbors got an estimate from Nelson for removal of two of their trees (large ones) -- $5000! After checking around, they contracted with another tree company for $1600. I'm not sure why Nelson's prices have more than doubled, but if you're thinking of using them, I would highly recommend getting another estimate.

I presume that because he is so busy that I've had to wait for him to service my trees. He's always been worth bothering wait. After the last big storm, my neighborhood was particularly damaged by the falling trees. One of my neighbors was hit by two very large trees. They called Steve at 5:00 am and Steve was there with his crew getting the majority of the damage taken care of that morning I had two trees that were leaning badly but posed no real threat to my property or my neighbors Steve told me that I would have to be patient but a lot of properties were in worse condition than mine and I had to wait about three weeks for him to be able get to me. We had another storm a two weeks later that brought down some limbs and I was concerned about damage to my home and my neighbors. I didn't have to wait to call. Steve anticipated my call because he was there the next morning. What a relief! Damage control is a big part of the tree business and I know how difficult it must be to manage it. I know that it may be hard to appreciate for some folks what aren't used to waiting fo service. I can't say how glad to have Steve in my address book.

Recently I asked Redmiles tree services to trim some of the trees around my house. Came to find out David is not around anymore. All I can say the service was not the same. The job was not completed on the first day. Workers did not clean the area before they left. I gave the young guy who was running the job a check. When I had a chance to inspect the work I was not satisfied. Call ed my bank and stop the payment. I called the company and asked them to come back and finish the job. They came back next day and finished the job but still did not clean the area as David used to do and any other contractor will do. As a mater of fact the young guy argued with me and gave me variety of excuses, why they can not clean. This experience cost me the fee for their service, fee for stopping the payment with the bank and another $200 for someone to spend several hours to clean the mess. In addition they damaged and destroyed some of the plants and ground covers in the back yard. I guess you can say my experience with this company was less than pleasant and very costly. Needless to say I will never use Redmiles again.

Thankfully, we had David out earlier to take care of our older trees and didn't have any serious issues. However, David made a point to come by after the tornado to make sure we were okay. While he was here, he took care of a couple of broken branches we couldn't reach and refused to charge us for it. That is the definition of ultimate customer service.

When they claimed they were done I saw there were many remaining dead branches. I spoke to Angel on the phone and he said that they "removed most of the branches." The had the tree down in a couple of hours, and then spent a lot of time cleaning up sawdust and detritus after the job was done, both on my property and on my neighbor's. Not only did they do excellent job in cutting and trimming, but they also left the area clean and tidy by clearing away all the cut branches and grinding the stumps perfectly. They also added top soil, seeds and straws. Hometown unilaterally decided to trim a tree in my yard because they deemed it too close to my neighbor's shed...DESPITE my neighbor EXPLICITLY telling them not to. In order to trim said tree, they also trespassed on my property to access the tree. The result was a very ugly, stumpy, lopsided tree on my property. It was so bad that I had to have it removed completely. Hometown said they would do this for free...well guess what...they never showed up and I finally had to have it removed by someone else. Now trying to get them to remunerate me for the situation they created, and they are refusing to do so. They will not put me in contact with the owners, and are no longer responding to communications. I have a feeling this is going to end up in court. STAY AWAY - FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER!
