Upon purchasing our new home 18 months ago we had to remove several trees, which were a nuisance. Growing either too close to our house or growing over and onto the cement near our pool. In addition we had about 13 ficus trees in our backyard which had started to push against our border walls. Miguel at Tree Geek removed an enormous Ficus tree and cutback the 12 ficus trees along the wall, in addition to trimming many of our backyard trees. After the job was completed, I contacted Miguel asking him to return to our property to further trim back and shape the trees. Miguel agreed to return the follow week. Miguel is a flake. Did two tree removal jobs perfectly, then upsold me on a massive landscaping job that would prevent weeds from ever growing back in. Weeds came in three weeks later. I then called or texted him asking for him to address the problem literally for EIGHT MONTHS. He kept promising "i'll be there this weekend!" in the same way that deadbeat dads say things like "we'll go fishing soon, champ!" I never saw him again. Suffice to say, he made out with thousands of dollars, and my lawn looks like garbage. Use his company for the little stuff if you want, but if you go for big ticket things then get ready to be let down and then ghosted, hard. I've had other landscapers come out to fix it, and they've said things like "jeez, the person that did this really needs to take responsibility." Imagine someone saying that about YOUR yard. Killed the biggest cactus I had while he was at it, too. read more

Tree Geek was working at a neighbors house and provided me a quote for some trimming, Completed the work at a fair price

NO LICENSE. NO INSURANCE!!!!! Rafael was referred by a good friend and I hired them (spoke to Rafa & Miguel) for tree trimming. Did ok job but the workers broke my lamps. Luckily pool man saw them break the lamps and they covered it with a sweater and he told me. I contacted them and was told by Rafael & Miguel they would fix it. After seeing acceptance of fault I told them to return and remove stumps and trees in the front of my house. As they were removing stumps I left to run errands and received a call from my stepson that he heard a loud noise from the window. He said he looked through and saw Miguel & his co-worker working on the stumps in front of the house with a grinder, and that the front window was hit, which they did not cover or protect. Upon my return I came to talk to Miguel and noticed he was leaving. I asked what about the rest of work and he changed his story saying that was NOT what was agreed even though I had proof of all texts. I was so upset I forgot to confront him about the window. Next day I texted both of them along with images of the rock which shattered the window and have yet to hear from them. read more

GREAT work, and super fast! Came out and gave me an estimate the day after I called, and then trimmed a tree in my front yard the next day. The work they did was excellent -- after trimming, the tree is still beautiful, and they cut back exactly what I wanted, and cleaned up after themselves. I have never written a yelp review before, but was so impressed with these guys that I just had to write this one. I was very impressed with this team from the first day. Rafael came out to look at my 65 ft. tree (that had been dying slowly for years) and give a quote for removal and stump grinding. He asked for my cell and texted me on the spot so I could reply with my email address so he could email a quote. He emailed a quote within a day and texted he'd sent it. It was reasonable. I had already gotten other quotes so I knew it was good. His team (4 guys I think, maybe 5), led by Miguel, came as planned the following Saturday and after 1 guy climbed to the top of the tree they determined it wasn't safe to continue as planned without the help of additional machinery to help with hoisting the cut limbs down to the ground safely because the level of dryness/decay at the top of the tree was worse then they realized. They left and said Rafael would call re any additional $ needed and to reschedule. Rafael arranged to rent a crane for a day and split that cost with me. Again, still a reasonable quote compared to others I had received so I agreed. It took a few more days to schedule the crane and they came back out to get started again. The crane parked in my front yard (small yard/no damage). The crane extended a large hook over my single story Tudor home (high pitched roof) to my backyard where the tree was. A single man climbed the tree again and did the job of connecting the hook to ropes/belts that he wrapped to the branches before he cut them. The crane hoisted them down safely. There was a touchy moment that almost disconnected my cable line but it ended well (no damage). They spent several hours that day cutting off all branches. Then crane left and they continued cutting the remaining bottom 40ish ft that didn't have branches. It was nerve wracking to watch (scared for the guy in the tree) but he was a true pro. I chatted him up after (forgot his name) and he said he'd been climbing trees since he was a small boy and just loves it. They spent 2 more days buzz sawing the main trunk into several pieces to haul off and to lastly grind the stump. The tree was 3 ft from my neighbors yard just over their garage. Miguel made sure my neighbor was happy with the level of cleaning done on his side and he was also happy that no equipment was needed on his side. They even cleaned my neighbors gutters on the garage. I had asked from the start that they please spread some of the mulched tree (they mulched all the branches) into an open dirt spot in my front yard and they said no prob. Win win. Less for them to haul and I get free (ok super-expensive, but essentially free) mulch. I couldn't have been happier. read more

My experience was different than those who have submitted high ratings. They left a card in my screen door. I called them for a job. They texted me that they would come by, and they did about an hour later than they said they would. They gave me a quote. I wanted them to go ahead, but time had run out. They said I should call them and schedule the work. The next day I called. No reply back. I called again. No reply. I texted them. No reply. I texted them twice more. No reply. I sent them a message on Facebook Messenger. Got a reply! He said he'd call me tomorrow. They didn't call. A couple days later, I sent another Messenger message reminding them of the phone number. No reply. Boy, do you think they're flakey?!! You bet! I think I gave them more than enough chances. It was starting to get insulting. I called another company. That other company came by the next morning, gave me a quote, and did the work right away. I don't know what Tree Geek's problem was, but that's not the kind of company I'd ever, ever recommend. read more
