Tre Kronor is a cozy spot in a corner, to say the least. The popularity is definitely there since we had to wait a bit to be seated. We ended up exploring North Park College as a time waster and enjoyed the walk through their campus. The food was aesthetically pleasing all around from the waffle to hot chocolate. I would recommend the waffle since my French Toast looked so pretty yet lifeless at the same time. I feel like I'm just used to the fluffy/airy French Toast look and this was not the case. Hence, the Cinnabon tasted like soap. Although, I think because of the busy day the plate may have been just washed and thrown back out. Overall, Tre Kronor was okay for the price and I would go back to try and redeem it. read more

After ordering we got our drinks about 1:15 and our food didn't come out at all, we ended up leaving at 2 and STILL NOTHING. All while other tables that were sat after us were fully attended to and served before us. When I went up to cancel and leave the server said "yeah I don't blame you"??? Unreal. Outdoor seating is available in summer time with about 10 tables sitting 2-4 people. It is a small garden seating arrnagement, surrounded by plants, which is great, but there will be many fruit flies. You enter from their side entrance on N Spaulding Ave during summer days. It's best to go early for breakfast otherwise you'll wait a bit. On a Friday morning, there were already 6 tables taken right at opening at 9am. Homemade Quiche (today's specials were broccoli cheddar or salmon dill which is pricey but delicious) is available even during breakfast time (it's on the lunch menu). Swedish pancakes were very tasty, just small portions. Ticket time was about 20 min for breakfast. Nice service overall, but very little conversation. -1 star for value/amount of food and many fruit flies, but very good food read more

I had seen this restaurant on a show on the Food Network and I wanted to try it as soon as I saw it. Not many cities in the USA have a Swedish restaurant. No, IKEA isn't really a Swedish restaurant, it's more like Swedish fast-food restaurant. I wish I would have done more research, we went for a late lunch on a Monday and turns out they only serve Swedish meatballs for dinner on Tuesday-Friday. They serve open-faced sandwich with meatballs for lunch though which my wife and son ordered which was pretty good. I ordered the pickled herring plate as an appetizer. It was so good, it probably didn't hurt that I haven't had good pickled herring for a number of years. It was also served with eggs and salad. They also serve Swedish crispbread with butter. I like it but not everyone does. It's hard and crispy but I like the flavor and texture. I ordered Anders' Hash as the entree. I asked our server and it's not a typical Swedish hash more of Swedish/American inspired hash but it was very good. It also comes with eggs cooked like you want it. I like sweet, red sliced beets with hash and the server was able to get me some which made the meal even better. The decor was nice and definitely reminds me of Sweden. They also have a very nice Swedish store next door which isn't to be missed. We usually come to Chicago once a year and we will definitely make sure we stop by on our next trip. read more

I've been coming to this place with my grandma for quite some time. When something is this good, there's really no reason to change things up. The inside is super cute, and always incredibly packed. We went a little after typical brunch times - closer to their closing time (but not so close that we were those rude people keeping the employees from closing, mind you.) and found that this was probably the best time to go. There are tables in every possible spot to maximize this tiny place. If personal space is your thing, Tre Kronor is probably not going to make you happy. The one thing that does rightly change is the menu. Based on different factors (I'm sure), there are different specials each time we go. I had a salmon benedict which was fantastic. Just the right amount of portion without being insanely stuffed. Grandma got the quiche and I'm now regretting not taking a bite when she offered - she said it's consistently great. read more

I came here again on a weekday evening to have a late meal with a girl friend. We sat ourselves inside and it wasn't crowded like it typically is for brunch, which was nice for a catch-up. The server was very sweet and put on a fresh pot of coffee for me when I stepped in at 5 pm. We weren't feeling particularly peckish, so we decided to get a cup of soup and share an appetizer. LOVE this place!! If we lived closer this would 100% be a go to spot. Service was absolutely lovely and attentive, good COVID measures were taken, and food was excellent! We started with good cup of coffee (which was kept very full throughout the meal) and a cardamom bun. We wanted to also try a danish but many were already sold out - go early if you're interested in the pastries! The bun was delicious - soft, chewy, just the right amount of sweet, and served warm. The eggs and hash was so so good. They make the hash in house I believe and it was very flavorful. Swedish pancakes were also very well made (though a smaller portion than the massive waffle with fresh fruit loaded on top - we jealously watched as others' waffles passed by!!) the lunge berry jam was tart and not too sweet, didn't even need the maple syrup. Cutest patio!! My friend and I came in for brunch and it was perfect! We had our own space to ourselves in the back with the nicest waiter - Joseph! We shared a salted Carmel danish that was heaven in desert form. Joseph recommended the Swedish meatball sandwich with potatoes and it was the epitome of comfort food. The potatoes were crispy and paired well with the gravy. We couldn't turn down desert so we shared a lemon tart. The perfect end to our meal. And a bowl of mussels that were delicious. We each chose the Ribeye steak for our main course, which hasn't been on their menu for some years now. It was incredibly delicious. We ordered medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. Accompanied by roasted beets and potatoes, which complimented the steak, ideally, this is a main dish they need to bring back. My boyfriend and sister both ordered the vanilla and orange French toast. The quiche was delicious and the slice was quite generous; it was served with fruit. However, I did feel that $15 was a bit steep considering it was not served with an additional side. The French toast was yummy but a bit underwhelming - my sister and boyfriend both said that "orange" flavor didn't really come through. This breakfast/brunch spot is just pure homey feeling from the gecko; it has two floors from what I've seen and my boyfriend and I were seated upstairs which felt like we walking in someone's apartment. The service is very friendly but the food does come out little slow in my opinion or it's probably because I was really hungry lol the atmosphere is relaxing and the noise level is quiet to the point you can hear people conversations. I ordered the Belgium waffle with fresh fruits and whipped cream with the side of diced potatoes. Omg! The waffle was very instagram worthy. Took the first bite and it immediately taste delicious.
